Proclaiming him the starter or predicting he would be declared the starter?"From the first practice through the last practice Minchey has been better and Carr has been arm punting throughout camp. Any rational coaching staff, would've chosen Minchey and therefore me proclaiming him the starter made perfect sense"- John Brice
Get this man a proper fitting hat
I'm only interested in what Irish Breakdown (for laughs) and Irish Illustrated (my "go to" source) has to say.Are the sites in spin mode?
Any chance two of those guys are Tommy Rees and Malik Zaire? Any others we would be surprised to hear? The inside baseball on all of this is that under Kelly there were massive leaks from both players and coaches. It was, at best, symbiotic... and at worst you had people pushing their agendas through certain "friendly" beat writers.
Freeman has changed that dynamic and does not tolerate leaks. The people who still have access maintain it by not spreading stories / rumors except when they have the green light. So there are a lot of people in the dark.
KizerI can't believe we're finally starting a big-arm QB with accuracy. Not only this year but likely next, and maybe even the year after. Big accurate arm, I can't recall the last ND starting QB that had that.

Pete and Fortuna are live if anyone wants to ask how Liverpool and Penn State are looking this year.
Of course it’s better to look at more than one stat. That’s why I used three stats to just the one you used.Fair. He was 62 in net so his hang time made up for his lack of distance. There were very very few punts returned against us.
I know it's attractive to latch onto a single stat but don't you think it's better to consider everything?
I would like him to punt better. If he adds 3-5 yds avg to his net, he's in the top quartile, maybe even top 15. That seems doable.
And are those people who were at practice in the room with us right now Matt?Fortuna - “me you and everyone else in the media talks to a lot of people who are (at practice) and I have not heard a single soul say CJ Carr has been the better QB in camp than Kenny Minchey”

Interesting. The people on this website that were either at practice or know people that were at practice tell a different story. Matt needs better sources.Fortuna - “me you and everyone else in the media talks to a lot of people who are (at practice) and I have not heard a single soul say CJ Carr has been the better QB in camp than Kenny Minchey”

And Driskell wanted Carr - no wonders RR got fired...Ryan Roberts article is similar to Brice where it’s just talking about how Minchey should have been named QB
Basically the long and short of this seems to be:
- the media is not at practice
- the media gets someone to tell them the INT tally at each practice
- they assume Freeman would choose the one who threw less
- That was Minchey
Every beat writer comes back to the INT tally as the core point of their assumption.
