I just can’t see Talich starting against Miami and A&M

CB depth a bit of a concern but I’m sure one of Dallas G or Zackery will step up like a guy does for Mickens every year.

If I’m not mistaken, nickel is essentially our “base” defense. As u mentioned, we’d be in more 4-3 against run first teams.
That is correct. 4-2-5 is the base. The run first look would be 4-3-4 with a LB (probably Ausberry) replacing Smith.

Not sure there's anybody left besides Navy in the run first category,

Crazy I figured Dawson would be with the ones? Regardless if you are a 1 or 2 they’ll play even snaps, Moore will already come out unless we are killing teams
You were wrong about Golden needing to get a look at WR.

Disagree on Talich. The fact he's running with the 1's this far in to camp seems to indicate he's a legit candidate to start. I believe he continues to be underestimated despite what he's shown in the B&G game and last season where he made impact plays on st.

My prediction in his personal thread looks better by the day.

No Cree Thomas. That's kind of interesting after he got so much hype in the spring. Was he not able to carry the momentum through summer or are Mark Zackery and Dallas Golden just so good that they already passed him?
I still wouldn't put a lot of stock into where they are in practice just yet. Its still the fall camp portion. I would imagine if it was Miami week, I would put more stock in things.

Against A&M I could see it if he’s the most assignment correct against the run. That game seems like it will be a ground battle once again

Curious who is Field versus Boundary between Golden and Zachary. Thomas has been #2 Boundary since Spring

I agree. LT was really playing well on ST last season and has the athleticism to be a difference maker. Throw in that he is a coach’s son - not surprised at all he is running with the first team.

I think it will be Stroman and Shuler

Thomas - Boundary, Zachary - Field, Golden - Nickelback

Hobbs is CB #3 and will be the backup for sure for Field & Nickel and best guess at Boundary as well.

I’ll just agree to disagree again with folks placing guys places they don’t seem to rep at.

Did all spring. Not like the media watches all practice

You can’t practice 3 spots at once. He’s objectively repped a significant amount more at nickel in his career. Until Mickens or other just comes out and says Hobbs is backup CB at all 3 spots, I don’t see it.

My bad for not explaining myself better in the other post. Hobbs at Boundary is only going to happen if it's a catastrophic injury and he becomes the starter. Best guess is Cree Thomas is the guy that spells Moore at Boundary. Any long term injury at either Field or Nickel and its Hobbs job. Hobbs IMO is #2 at both Field and Nickel. Zachary #3 at Field and Golden #3 at Nickel.

I find the LB coach to be an impressive communicator. He is intense but also detailed. He isn't all "jibberish" which some intense communicators can be at times. In discussing the details of how Sneed's size gains will improve his game, yeah, as I said, I am impressed.
