I don't think it started as a week's long conspiracy but I think they started listening to the lobbying over the past two weeks. There is no *logical* case to move Bama up for squeaking by Auburn.
I maintain that it’s more about dropping us down than anything else.

What’s funny is Bama knows they are playing with house money now, and will have a good showing in the SEC CG because of it.

They will be loose and at their best.

If they felt their backs were against the wall, they would have shit down their leg and got their teeth kicked in by Georgia.

Yeah, but Kirby also wants this way more than DeBoer or Alabama. Just have to hope Kirby gets out this mental funk he has about Alabama. I also think UGA is just a better team than Alabama.

I can't believe the universe is making me cheer for Georgia. It was bad enough I had to cheer for them against Michigan a few years back.

The logic is - they want Bama in the field, and swapping them with ND gives them buffer if Bama loses and BYU wins, Bama isn’t on the chopping block. I really think it’s just a conspiracy to protect Bama and nothing else.
Bama raised holy hell last year and damn near had Saban in tears of (un)righteous fury on the selection show last year and it worked. The move up is to protect Bama, they're locked in now. If they lose they can simply swap us and them but they're in.

Haha...they are a great fall back team to get into. When Kirby's visor goes sideways it's gonna get violent. In all honesty, I think ND and UGA are more similar than people think. Maybe it's because I get stuck watching a bunch of UGA games. But they both play with a certain intensity and I love it. Probably because they have the two best coaches in the game.

We really just need to man up and face the reality.

1. We are playing too soft of a schedule to overcome bad starts. We need more top tier programs on the schedule.

2. Marcus Freeman does not come out of camp firing on all cylinders. His teams peak at the right time but lose games they should not early on.

In this day and age, you CANNOT give them a reason to f*ck you, because they will. On the field, we drop a snap and allow them to blow a targeting and holding call to steal the game. Off the field, we have horrible soft game plans against Miami and allow them to steal a playoff spot from us.
Disagree, if anything we need to play a softer / less front loaded schedule. Look at Indiana and Ohio State for reference, #1 and #2 in the standings with worse SOS than ND.

Look at Texas. Outside looking despite meat grinder style schedule and a bunch of quality wins.

I guess that's the 2026 schedule

Agreed re front loading, but if we had one extra quality opponent coming down the stretch we would have been fine

I don’t think this is for ESPN ratings.. they didn’t even run any commercials during it iirc..
Yeah, it's like 20 minutes long and no one watches it really. It drives outrage on Twitter and social media, but how much does that actually mean to ESPN? They're going to get their clicks anyways.

Most of the Twitter thread comments I'm reading think that bama jumped us to keep them in as a buffer for a loss to Georgia. They won't be penalized for losing; they'll still get in but will drop in the rankings. If byu also loses, we flip flop with bama again and maintain the one team buffer with Miami.

Cross fingers.

Stay independent and NEVER take a knee to ESPN or whatever stupid conference. Next year, win the games we should win to leave zero doubt, as we have more enemies closing in on us than friends. Ultimately, the committee will be championed for excluding us. The revenue we generate is not enough. This isn't about the best teams. It's about the best SEC teams with the unavoidable Big Ten circle session. Is what it is.

There was entirely too much bitching going on for the committee to start looking at other metrics and watching games. It doesn’t matter how much money ND can bring right now it’s every conference against ND.

Bottom line you can’t lose those 2 games. ND is pretty much going to have to be undefeated or 1 loss to team.

Our game getting moved to 10:30 is another example of this. No one other than ND fans were going to watch this game.

I agree. Win and don't give them a choice. The lacrosse team got screwed in 2022 and then won two titles in a row.

I think this year is unusual because of the higher than normal number of 10-2 teams, and because ND lost to the two best teams on its schedule, such that they can take spots from ND. If we were 10-2 but had lost to USC and Boise State or something I bet we're in, even if we're still behind an 11-1 A&M team that (in this scenario) we beat.

Not sure how all this works. Is there a chance to see ND in the Orange bowl this year? I got tickets.

Well, the key factor in all of this is that I married into a family of Gator fans lol. Zero chance I was ever going to become a UGA fan. Besides, I lived out that way for a few years and really grew to hate that program. I was in Metro Atlanta for the 2012 season and the amount of insufferable UGA fans talking shit about the title game was too much lol.

Their record doesn't do justice to how bad they are. They got rocked by a Florida team without a coach.
For as dumb as it was, I watched that Alabama game. They are an extremely mediocre team and should have lost. But ESPN is going to rock their brand in the end.

What part? And if UGA called a time out in the SEC CG and got settled we would have been playing them instead of Bama. And maybe things go our way that year in the Natty.
