They will be the conference champion.I don’t agree that jumping us is irrelevant. That would clearly be rewarding their win

I'd say yes but it depends on what the committe values more. Also, if Oklahoma flips with us and the "doomsday" scenario happens (Bama and BYU winning) it would trade one SEC team for another SEC team in the field. Right now Bama is in a precarious situation anyway if BYU wins and Bama loses. Oklahoma being at 9 just would mean they take Oklahomas place with a win in SECCG, instead of ND.Any chance we jump Oklahoma? If so, that ensures that we are in and there is no “doomsday” scenario.

I get your point - you shouldn’t get the reward without the risk. But I think the counterargument is that the reward for making the CCG is exactly that - you get a chance to significantly move up without the risk of moving down.I don’t agree that jumping us is irrelevant. I think there's a slight chance. OK has looked like shit. SOoners dropped two spots in teh updated FPI and one spot in the SP+. ND stayed the same. 3 in FPI and 5 in SP+.Any chance we jump Oklahoma? If so, that ensures that we are in and there is no “doomsday” scenario.
please articulate
Nice to see you found something to do with your time besides Freeman fear mongering.
Notre Dame is one of the best 12 teams in the country. There is no Miami vs Notre Dame debate. It's not the committee's fault that the ACC has some stupid tiebreaker that enables an unranked team with five losses to make their championship over the #11 team that is 10-2.
If you ignore the SEC CG Alabama is already first out if BYU wins. So the committee would have to reward them for losing ie reward them for making the SEC CG at all to include them. Which if they were planning on doing they could, but won’t, do this week.Last year the committee did drop several CCG losers by 1 or 2 spots (Texas, PSU, and SMU). But none of them dropped out. I'm not convinced they will never drop a CCG loser out, as some people think, and Bama already has two losses. But they are playing UGA (not, say, a team ranked 15 or something) and they already beat UGA in Athens. So I would be pretty surprised if they drop Bama out for losing.
Right, but none of those teams were two loss bubble teams going into their conference title game. I'm not saying they would definitely drop Alabama out, but they're on the bubble right now and have a bad FSU loss weighing them down. I also think that Miami is just a better team than Alabama, full stop.Last year the committee did drop several CCG losers by 1 or 2 spots (Texas, PSU, and SMU). But none of them dropped out. I doubt it. But it would be huge, I agree.Any chance we jump Oklahoma? If so, that ensures that we are in and there is no “doomsday” scenario.
The longhorns are delusional and entitled enough to think they could pull that off, tbhGotta figure out a way to get Florida out of the SEC
Well, "Sark" you could have put yourself in a better position to have a better record by, I dunno, BEATING BILLY FUCKING NAPIER.
Regardless of the merits of his position (there are none), this is just such a Charmin soft, bitchmade attitude I cannot respect it at all. If fate turns cruelly against us I could never imagine Marcus Freeman saying we should have not played A&M or Miami. You can quibble about the timing of playing those games, but I don't think any ND fan is out there saying we shouldn't have played them. We're lamenting that we should have won. This kind of soft attitude is why Texas will never amount to a pile of shit under Sark. Shortcuts have a way of turning into longcuts.

Incredible timing on our two posts making similar points lolThe SEC already plays only 8 conference games. That "extra" game vs Ohio State just gets them to the normal baseline of 9. The entire conference is fraudulent.
Oh, and I'd have a lot more sympathy for Texas if they didn't struggle with Kentucky and Mississippi State lmao
I want to ask Texas fans the same question I had for the Bama and OM whiners last year: how many losses does it take for you to think you're no longer deserving of a playoff schedule? I mean, UF and Wisconsin had absolutely brutal schedules, should they get in? Obviously not, you don't credit for a difficult schedule if you lose that much, but how much in their minds is enough? To me, under a 12 team system, 3 losses is too much. 2 losses are the limit. I really think UT people are delusional enough that they think 8-4 should get them. I'm not sure some of them have a limit. He should take it up with the SEC.
A&M and Texas both played a top five non-conference road game early, but drew such different conference schedules. That’s why A&M made the playoffs and Texas will not.
Right and even if Freeman would have been technically correct, I would never want a leader with that mindset. The schedule is the schedule, if you win your games you'll get in.I'm so glad that through all of this, Bevacqua and Freeman haven't been absolute pansies about us potentially getting left out in a doomsday scenario. I know it helps that we've been ranked solidly in the CFP field, but Freeman did stomp for ND's playoff case after the Stanford game a bit.
He never said "maybe we should stop playing the Miami's and Texas A&Ms and just schedule another FCS opponent."
Absolute cowardice. Love how he mentions "Are we not supposed to schedule OSU?" Without mentioning losing to fucking Florida. Barely beat Arkansas, MSST, Kentucky and only beat UTEP by a whopping 17 points.
But let's focus on the OSU game week 1. I'm sure that's why the committee is leaving you out.
Incorrect. Haven't you heard that 8-4 in the SEC is 11-1 to anybody else?!Lax said it.
I think the image of the SEC is drastically overrated this year. There's a lot of average to below average to bad teams in that league this year. Should've been no reason to lose to Florida. Sorry about their luck.
You look at SP+ and they have ZERO top 5 teams. Every single team is ranked higher by the CFP committee than their metrics suggest. Yet they are slated to get 5/12 playoff spots while everyone else fights over scraps. The playoff being half or more SEC + G5 teams is "fair" to no one.Lax said it.
