IF Texas Tech loses to BYU in the BIG12 Championship game, is there reason to worry that they would still be ranked ahead of us, currently sitting at #7?
Yes I think that is one of the only ways we can be left out at this point. Especially if it is a close game, it would be very similar to SMU last year where they didn't kick them out altogether, just gave them the last at-large spot.

It's amazing that college football has been as successful as it is with how dumb the sport is run.

Conferences have way too much power.

Do away with auto bids.
My man! Exploitive labor practices can paper over a lot of holes.

Yes. Their current odds are -6000.

But it is interesting. Why would they be ranked ahead of #9 ND at that point? Or, why would BYU?

That's a fair question. I think TTU is being over-ranked right now and think they belong at 7. Here's the metrics compared side by side:

ESPN SOR: TTU 10, ND 12
ESPN FPI: TTU 7, ND 3
ESPN SOS: TTU 56, ND 34
ESPN GC: TTU 2, ND 5
SP+: TTU 3, ND 5
FEI: TTU 8, ND 4
Sagarin: TTU 8, ND 2

Wins: TTU 2 ranked wins (1 playoff team), ND 2-3 ranked wins (no playoff teams)
Losses: TTU 2 losses (1 playoff team and 1 possibly ranked team), ND 2 losses (1 playoff team and 1 higher ranked team)

I would happily drink some bourbon and watch the entire Big 12 meltdown occur if we won that battle in the committee room.

It would be good for us if WVU somehow beat them, right?

I really don’t want a mini NFL to be honest. If they were to “blow it up” I’d prefer a different route that’s distinct from the NFL.
I have been saying this for years. The NFL model requires no polls. No human bias. No committee. Just Wins and Losses and getting hot at the right time. I’m all about blowing up the conferences.

As a Giants fan I love that the NFL's greatest team did not win the championship

That is part of the reason the NFL is a soulless corporate product. Why would I ever care about Detroit and Green Bay fighting for a playoff spot? It doesn’t matter to my team at all.

TTU vs BYU? OSU v Michigan? Washington v Oregon? Huge implications across the board in each one. I have a rooting interest in all those games plus more.

Sounds boring as hell. What do they talk about for two months?

Alright, I don’t get fired up by much on the internet but this guy fucking sucks.

First off, did he ever walk back or admit he was wrong about being adamant Freeman and Florida were a thing?

Congrats on throwing a TD on 4th down under a minute to pad the score. You really showed ND and won by 17. ND’s worst performance of the year was a 15 point win and every single ND affiliate agrees it was a bad performance.

Also, very ironic he throws around dumb political buzzwords for a college football argument when he is actually a woke loser in real life…

I don't think we have anything to worry about with BYU for an at-large. They're behind us and they're not going to jump us with a loss.
For Texas Tech it's more complicated:

Like us, they have won most of their games by a large margin. They're not a fluke.
Their two best wins (Utah and BYU) are a bit better than ours, but also Big 12 teams so who knows, really.
Our two losses would be better than theirs (Arizona State, BYU).
But their second would be in a CCG, which we did not play.
And, mostly, they are #5 right now. How far do you drop a team for losing a CCG, especially to a team they already beat once handily?

I think we're the better team, to be clear, and we are a bigger brand. But it would be hard for the committee to keep Texas Tech out for losing to BYU. Which is why we're hoping they lose to West Virginia this weekend.

What’s more soulless than the pre season polling and the self fulfilling prophecies of the same teams being ranked with out playing games and then all the worthless and meaningless weekly rankings and polls only to have a corporatized committee be the final gatekeepers.lol. I’ll take the play the games and see who wins.

What is interesting to me is Bama's prospects. They are currently -200 to make the playoff on DK. Obviously they have to win this week. However, what happens if they lose to TAMU/Georgia in the SECCG and then fall to 3 losses? They would be up against BYU/TTU and dare I say Miami.

They shouldn't be in.

Just cut the preseason ranking crap and the cupcake pre conference scheduling. Bring strength of schedule into play and roll with the top 12 at the end of the year.

Vegas agrees by a very slim margin.

Oregon is -6.5.
Miami is -7
Ole Miss -7
Sooners -10

I think Pitt's offensive line has issues iwth Miami's D line but I also think Beck will throw a couple balls right at Pitt defenders. I think it's a one possession game that Pitt wins if they convert turnovers into points.

Yeah, if this game was in September or even in Miami I would agree. But Miami is 2-7 under Cristobal in November road games and there's just no way Beck has magically transformed into a deadly accurate passer without interception concerns. I mean Pitt is Pitt and could no show, but if I were a betting man I wouldn't bet on a Mario Cristobal led team from Miami to head to freezing temperatures in the north on the road and win an extremely important game.

I’m w/ Dale on this one. I think all eyes will be on this game & Pitt got some gravitas back after upsetting GT. I hear ya on Beck but now think back to what ND’s defense did to Heintschel. You don’t think Miami can do the same? Cristobal maybe Mr. September but Narduzzi is the Forrest Gump of coaches

Only path I see for Pitt is Miami while having an OL that can impose on Pitt’s front, they don’t have a RB that can be explosive with it. It’s more 3, 4, 5 yards at a time. As long as they contain Toney that should make Miami drive the ball long enough to possibly have Beck make a mistake.

Their OL is gonna get wrecked again. Best hope is Heintschel isn’t a deer in headlights this time and they use the ND game as a map to set forth adjustments.

Louisville has a bad OL as well but studs in Isaac Brown and Chris Bell and they jumped Miami early before doing nothing most of the game. That is your hope.

Funniest thing about him is he went to some low-rent community college in Dade County, not UM.

Big 12 is a ponzi scheme - have no one to compare them to bc all of their OOC schedules suck, so they get the benefit of the doubt that they are actually good. They should be punished for their shit scheduling accordingly because it’s all planned by Yormack to pump out high win loss records.

IU also played 2 FCS schools and ODU. Embarrassing. Should be behind A&M for that alone.
