I'd throw West Va. in there. Texas Tech has to go to Morgantown, which seems harder than hosting a team from Florida in Utah. And Texas Tech feels like a bigger threat to steal an at-large from us as a Big 12 CCG loser than BYU - currently ranked behind us - would be.
A WVU upset makes the Big 12 a one-bid league for sure.

I think Pitt's offensive line has issues iwth Miami's D line but I also think Beck will throw a couple balls right at Pitt defenders. I think it's a one possession game that Pitt wins if they convert turnovers into points.

Yeah, if this game was in September or even in Miami I would agree. But Miami is 2-7 under Cristobal in November road games and there's just no way Beck has magically transformed into a deadly accurate passer without interception concerns. I mean Pitt is Pitt and could no show, but if I were a betting man I wouldn't bet on a Mario Cristobal led team from Miami to head to freezing temperatures in the north on the road and win an extremely important game.

Well they are likely to get the 5 seed so they are likely to win at least 1 game, now who the 4 seed is that they face? That will be a bit tougher.

It depends on their matchup. They do have an elite defensive line. If they get the G5 team or an ACC team like UVA if they make it they can win. Can they make a deep run? I'm skeptical, but they are good enough to win one game which is more than I can say for any G5 team and any ACC team not named Miami.

That's just not true. If ND slips to 11 because of BYU winning and Bama winning the SEC we will be out due to ACC champ getting an auto bid.

Why does the Group of 5 get an automatic bid? I know there was a reason that I can't remember....but it really seems dumb to guarantee them a bid. I could understand a guaranteed bid if a G5 team was in the Top 12 so that they can't just get jumped by the 5th place SEC team. Basically it’s the “UCF” rule from when they were good and claiming natty’s back in the mid/late 2010s.

I’m w/ Dale on this one. I think all eyes will be on this game & Pitt got some gravitas back after upsetting GT. I hear ya on Beck but now think back to what ND’s defense did to Heintschel. You don’t think Miami can do the same? Cristobal maybe Mr. September but Narduzzi is the Forrest Gump of coaches

All of the conference champs are eligible for the auto bids or none of them are. CFP cannot/does not (at the moment) differentiate the "power" of the conferences.

VT is 3-8 lmao. I know 4-7 in the SEC is the supposed equivalent of 11-1 in any other conference so kudos to you for adding South Carolina. 5-6 Auburn and Kentucky are tier one wins.

I really want Tulane to get a bid, but I agree. It’s kind of silly that they get an automatic bid. If anything, make them do some sort of “play in” game like they do in March Madness (Tuesday/Wednesday games).

Agreed, just pick 12 best teams and then also 86 the CC games so teams avoid playing each other 2-3 times most of the time and they can focus more on just scheduling their min. (9 or whatever) conf. games and have the remaining games be battles against P4 teams including ND. Done!

If nothing else there needs to be some clause that in order to qualify for an autobid you have to be ranked in the top 15 or something. It's ridiculous that a potentially unranked G5 team could jump 13+ schools and get a playoff seed.
