The first film I watched on Gilbert I was impressed- he looked like a hybrid WR/TE. Cam Williams has the star power of the class and Gilbert is going to be a sleeper at WR.

Our S&C bulked up Kedren Young- is he our next bruiser RB (Estime)??

I am surprised there wasn't more on our QB's besides they all looked good. For me I want to see if Angeli can build off the bowl win. Leonard is going to have to win me over, for him though he will have all the surrounding tools that can make him successful.

On paper our defense is elite, can they be?

I don't think many would be surprised if Gilbert had a better college career than Cam

The two players in question would only have to combine for less than 50 yards per game to eclipse 25% of 2600 yards over 14 games. I’m with NDependent on this. One long pass to either of them in a game puts them ahead of schedule. If they play regularly it will be surprising if they don’t accumulate 650 yards on the season.
Sounds easy except there will probably be 4 wrs ahead of them. Teams really don’t get 6 wrs involved consistently

Example- lsu last year had 3 wrs with over 250 yards, 4 with over 75 yards

If Gilbert and cam have 600plus yards combined my bet it’s due to other wr injuries of top 4 I mentioned above and that wouldn’t be good

Nd last year had 6 wrs with over 200 yards but only one over 400 (but less than 500), this was due to injuries

You want lsu 23 output not 23 Irish output at wr

I am more concerned about the offensive line. Coogan was downright bad at times last year. Reports were that baker got destroyed by Botelho. I was hoping Wagner would be the right tackle. His weight on the website is a whopping 281 lbs. there is no way he can be a starter at that weight. He needs to gain 25 lbs.

If he isn’t putting it on now either he’s not trying hard enough or it’s not working, most likely he’s just not really able to put more on right now… like you said, baker isn’t it

Baker concerns me more than cooogan, but yes I hope someone beats Coogan out. I just don’t think Coogan or spindler have the athleticism/agility/feet to be as good as we need

Wagner weighing in at 281 is flat out strange since it seemed the only thing preventing him from competing for a starting spot was gaining weight.

Unless he had an illness or something that caused him to lose a bunch before weights were taken, the fact that he lost weight says more about his willingness/ desire to be a starter, unfortunately. If he isn't a legit option, they need to hit the portal.

Based on photos of Wagner, there is no way in hell he's lighter than last year. I don't know if he's past 300, but if he was 288 last year, there is zero chance he's actually 281 now. Even Matt from ISD mentioned he's added noticeable weight since last season.

I'm taking those numbers with a grain of salt. The numbers also say Schrauth is smaller than Ashton Craig, which sorry, but unless Schrauth cut a ton of weight, that ain't right either. Schrauth looked well over 320 last year. He was a tank, and noticeably bigger than Craig.

Based on the Instant Analysis of II at 247, it seems that they believe the only offensive line battle that will occur is at right tackle. They think all the other positions are pretty set in stone.

Yes they won't be relied on as much as the freshman last year but we should also see a much improved pass game with Leonard and Denbrock. Conservatively speaking we should have over 2600 pass yards. I don't think it should sound crazy that Cam and Gilbert have a combined 25% of those yards with how talented the two are.

Just keep in your mind about love. He is going to be a extremely dangerous weapon out of the backfield in the passing game.

I hope Coogan is drastically improved which he could be, Jamie u hit on this this week - the interior o line was just flat out bad last year. I am hoping abshur or Pendleton step up

We have plenty of talent on the OL. Do we lack experience? Yes. But lots of talent. Get it on the field and let's see what happens.

I agree. I just think the younger guys have more talent than the older players. It’s just hard to go with the young players when your first game is at a&m. I definitely think this is a year where the starting five first game will not be the players who end the year

Next practice isn’t until March 20th. Isd hinted that freeman wanted to the media to keep things quiet about sessions with media availability

I know there is like 13 days between practice 1 and 2, not sure the specifics for the rest of spring
Hansen reported that the media has been given the spring practice schedule but were told not to make it public. Apparently, MF wants to cut down on the number of people who hang out around the practice facilities waiting for the players to finish practicing. He wants the players to be able to go from practice to classes without being stopped for autographs and such.

My theory is that Wagner is fixated on putting on good weight, and will eventually just have to suck it up and put on some "bad weight." They are shaming him with the roster numbers, telling him time is up.

He could get to 300 lbs if he wanted to--he's a big dude. It's not his body stopping him. He's a darn lean 285.

"BUT WE WANT GOOD WEIGHT!" The idea that most NFL o-linemen, much less college o-linemen, can weigh 300 lbs of mostly good weight is nonsense. There are not a lot of Q Nelson's out there. At some point, you just have to a bit fat. There are a ton of very good college linemen on both sides of the ball who have a ton of fat.

It will slow you down some, you won't feel as good, but that's the job.

Just a theory...

That’s not happening in 3 months, at least not legally.

He’s a Tackle, he needs to maintain his athletic ability. There’s not many “fat” DEs or OTs.

Is Rod Heard expected to be the Safety opposite Watts? I know both he and Collins cannot technically be part of the team until they graduate, so not surprised he wasn’t practicing.

Heard would certainly have the inside track. Only Shuler Talich and Minich and the true freshman in the way.
