Well the teams that had byes this week got the treatment#8-13 all within 50 points. I wouldn’t be surprised if these positions get rearranged after ND’s bye this upcoming week
It's fun how bye weeks seem to help us more than wins.On paper it might not look like much when the rankings come out, we might move up to 7th if we jump Penn State but there is also a chance Indiana jumps is. But regardless of the ranking yesterday was huge for us.
A Penn State loss puts them close to us
Iowa State, Texas AM, Clemson were all right on our heals last week in the rankings and all lost.
Pitt and Kansas State at 17 and 18 lost
It was a big day for our playoff rankings
Dave Preston has ND at 11th#5 in both AP and coaches
Mostly #4 or #5 with some #6s…
#7 on two ballots - crappy espn host Rece Davis and David Jablonski from Daytona OH.
…andddd the most egregious at #10 from an even crappier guy, Brian Fonseca from NJ Advance Media/ Star Ledger…Rutgers beat writer and alum graduating in 2018 - so he’s likely under 30.

He has shown bias against ND ranking all year. History shows he had ND preseason #10, up to 5 after A&M, 25th after NIU, then 24th after Purdue, and dropped them out of the poll after Miami(OH) when ND was otherwise 16th.
After Louisville win, ND went to 14th but he still had them unranked. Week later after first bye, they were 11th and he had just edged them back in at 25th.

Totally due to making the newly formed 12 team playoff. And winning therein, of courseWhen was the last time we beat 3 teams that finished in the top ten??? Has to be a first, right?
That doesn't change what an awesome accomplishment that isTotally due to making the newly formed 12 team playoff. And winning therein, of course

And the ‘89 team beat the winner of the Big10, Pac10, ACC, and Big 8 along with winning 4 games against top 10 opponents. The ‘88-‘93 squads were truly elite teams capable of beating anybody. That year Miami was 11-1, only loss to ND
Michigan was 9-2-1, losses to ND and Miami in the first 2 games of the season, tie to Iowa. Big10 Champ
West Virginia was 11-1, only loss to ND
USC was 10-2, only losses were to ND and Michigan in the Rose Bowl. Pac-10 Champ
