You have my sympathy.
I keep thinking about the past. And I keep wondering what might be lost. I’ve thought of myself, at age 9, devising my own mathematical ranking system for the sole purpose of finding a way to rank a two-loss Penn State team ahead of undefeated Clemson in 1981. I’ve thought about myself, at age 22, writing petulant columns for my college newspaper about the hypothetical outcomes of a Penn State–Nebraska national championship that would never be played in 1994. I’ve thought about all the time I’ve spent arguing and complaining about who should be no. 1, and how it should be determined, and I’ve thought about how much I’ve actually enjoyed the arguing and complaining.
The beauty of college football was always that. It's been sterilized, manufactured, and commodified losing all character and charm.Every time talk about playoff format changes comes up, I'm reminded of this Grantland article from 2013.

this sounds really f'n dumb
If 1A followed the 1AA playoff format
Don’t get me wrong. As a state it’s beautiful. My sympathies were directed to the confused aspect. LolEugene ain't bad
Well, it's fucking awful for reasons that would get into politics which this board isn't meant for
Oregon is a fantastic state.
We're just very confused
If IU plays any entry video and music, Irish fans will drown it out."Finally, for one round, the FBS postseason will have true home-field flair, and the CFP wanted to make sure the games felt like home games. All 134 stadiums were eligible. Although schools can choose a neutral site to host, Clark said Wednesday that every school in the mix this year plans to use its home field. Schools can hold their normal home game rituals, including run-out music, third-down crowd prompts and traditions between quarters. Clemson can run down the Hill. Oregon’s duck mascot can ride out on a motorcycle.
The visiting team will also be allowed to use its traditional run-out with music and a video, if it would like, according to the manual. If the visiting team brings its band, it, too, will perform at halftime. Both bands would get six minutes and 30 seconds as part of the 22-minute halftime – a break two minutes longer than the regular season but normal for previous CFP games.
The field will be painted as normal, with a CFP logo somewhere on the field, and the CFP will provide goal post wraps. The CFP will control digital signage and in-game entertainment. If you hate the recent trend of stadiums flashing all their lights after touchdowns, some good news: That’s not allowed. Schools must cover up any lower-bowl advertising that might show up on TV and use CFP sponsors, but their field sponsorships can remain. The game officials are pre-assigned by the CFP."

How will College Football Playoff home games work? Tickets, traditions and other questions
The CFP released an 87-page manual to schools in August, but the work is still ongoing to prepare for a quick-turnaround Playoff game.www.nytimes.com
So it’s just pregame then?Allegedly — and I read this from a Penn State angle, not ND — the CFP intends to let the host school basically run the show as they see fit from Q1 to Q4. Normal stadium announcer, video board control, etc.
I was at the Montana at South Dakota State FCS playoff game last Saturday and this is what they do for those. About 30 minutes before the game, they played the away team intro video then the home team intro video. Then after that, it was basically treated as a South Dakota State home game. SDSU has a countdown to kick-off video plays before home games during the regular season, and they played that just like normal. The band played like normal. The stadium announcer was the same as during the regular season. All of the video graphics were the same as during the regular season. I imagine it will be the exact same at the FBS level.Allegedly — and I read this from a Penn State angle, not ND — the CFP intends to let the host school basically run the show as they see fit from Q1 to Q4. Some interesting information here.
I heard people say early on this will likely end Title 1X. I think the ripple effect will be tremendous.Reading that tweet is like having the "it's terminal" conversation with your doctor but he thinks the disease is super cool.
"Athletic departments are going to need to cut their Olympic sports departments, so that's happening soon 😉. The good news is that the suits think we can squeeze way more blood from this thing since the NFL has already been monetized to the tits! Stay tuned bros!"
Herbstreit is on our side, which means ESPN might(?) be on our side. In the CFP selection show he was openly complaining about how some weeks this season had 4 or 5 marquee games and other weeks had 1 or 0 and he was pretty fired up about it.12 is a fine number, CFB had the best regular season in sports bc every game meant something. Networks could give a shit tho.
Wow. I figured PSU would toss some NIL to get him to stay throughout the CFP (as I assume ND has done). No backup QB and he actually plays specific packages already typically.
His numbers are actually better than their starterWow. I figured PSU would toss some NIL to get him to stay throughout the CFP (as I assume ND has done to get the current retention).
Would Notre Dame force a team to pay it?Does Freeman's new 4 year extensions have a huge buyout?
