When you have most fans screaming about conference championships matter, be careful what you wish for. I do think they’ll give byes to the top seeded teams based on rankings going forward. Conference champs will get auto bids but be seeded accordingly. And fans will still be unhappy.

I agree there will always be someone unhappy but there are many successful playoff models to chose from and I feel the current model has major flaws.

It might lead to teams deciding to not play in the confernece championship if they're already an undefeated lock. They'd have nothing to gain, but potential injuries.

The current model only has flaws because it was made official before Texas and USC/Oregon etc moved conferences

They’ll get rid of the Top 4 seed thing and it’ll be fine. It was made when there was a P5 and now there’s a P2.

No doubt. Personally, I’d prefer an 8-team CFP or just go “all in” and adopt the FCS model. Instead they will continue to fly the plane while building it.

Agreed.
They'll have to remove the bye restriction on us if the seeding is going to go by rank. Otherwise there's a risk that a one loss B10 or SEC team gets a bye without playing in their conference championship game also.

The current model is flawed because college football is a top-heavy sport and there will *never* be 12 teams that are legitimately deserving of a national championship.

It doesn't matter how you choose the 12. The 12 itself is the problem.

This works under the assumption the sole purpose of a postseason is the find a champion, which it isn’t.

Every sport in the world has their post season function as a reward for the regular season, not the most efficient way to find a champion.

Is it just me or does it seem as tho the entire ASU team hates one another right now. I feel like there will be a fight on their sideline at some point in this game.

Yes, there aren't 12 teams that have legitimate chance to win, but the number is good for the sport.
This has been the best regular season I can remember because so many teams were alive for the postseason.
If they properly seeded Boise, SMU, Clemson, and ASU the first round games would've been really competitive and fun.

Hard disagree. It ruined the season because there were tons of matchups, including conference championship games, where the winner didn't matter because one or both teams was already in, win or loss.

It improved the 10 to 25 games but destroyed the games amongst the elite.

What game was destroyed?

Michigan Ohio State. Big 10 Championship. SEC Championship. Ohio State Penn State. Texas Georgia the first time.

None of those were destroyed in the moment. You’re looking retroactive and saying well they didn’t matter.

If you didn’t enjoy watching those games in the moment, I don’t believe you enjoy watching football very much
