I was strictly referencing recruiting. What about those who gave Rees credit for landing Minchey and will again if he lands a solid grad transfer QB but don't want him to be the OC going forward, and are also happy that Kelly is gone and are happy with Freeman?
Never going to happen. The moment he gets fired from Texas, ND should jump on bringing him in as OC.
Is that still a thing at ND? I know it used to be but I thought they chilled out a little bit with it. I think his divorce was just a regular old mom and dad don't love each other any more situation. He wasn't banging coeds or something. Then he spiraled into alcoholism because he was so broken up about it.Never going to happen.
He's made millions of dollars at USC, Alabama and Texas being able to recruit with little to no restrictions. Even if Notre Dame were able to get into the salary ballpark they'd need to be in to hire Sark as OC, why would he do it?
Then there's his divorce, which will not go unnoticed by the administration and any people who write checks that feel this is catastrophic.

I don't really have an opinion on whether he should/would be hired, just actually curious how this would be perceived these days.
There are things at ND that shouldn't be things. I'm going on assumptions here considering we are crossing our fingers about grad transfers from Northwestern and Harvard. Is that still a thing at ND? Assuming we land a transfer who is all but guaranteed to start - who among Pyne, Buchner, Angeli, Pawlus transfer out? With Minchey coming in, there might be enough schollies for them all (and that's a big maybe), but there sure as shit won't be enough snaps.

I'm good with Pyne, Buchner or Powlus departing. Honestly, simply due to opportunity and playing time, I'd want to keep Pyne overall. We really have no idea what we are getting in a 2023 Buchner. Pyne at least has a solid backup role. I'd hate to lose Angeli without any knowledge of his potential. There's just no way of knowing. Personally, I think you're foolish to transfer out without your degree. Pyne is close, while Buchner & Powlus III are already half way.
I don't believe anyone transfers, it may be a surprising take, but it's hard to see why. Buchner has little value if he were to enter the portal - no experience, and has an injury. Pyne, even as a back-up, would be one of the better backup QBs in all of college football, and as we witnessed this year, he was one snap away from playing and starting. And he knows that. And he loves ND. Even if he doesn't start next year, he will graduate with two more years of eligibility remaining.
Does he stick around "no matter what?" In other words, does he stay on the roster just because he's the son of a former starting QB at ND?Considering he hasn’t graduated and surely didn’t expect to play, I’m not sure why Powlus would transfer.
It is going to be interesting to see who has more sway over the Texas AD - the Manning family or the boosters. If they have somewhere between 6-8 win seasons the next two seasons, the boosters might very well want him gone, but if the Manning family likes how Arch is developing then does the AD pull the plug? The moment he gets fired from Texas, ND should jump on bringing him in as OC.

He could NOT be on the roster and still get his degree, unless the cost of the degree is an issue being non-scholarship
Da-Dum that’s bigDon't want to give too much away, but it was confirmed on one of the premium sites that Card is graduating next month, so he'll have his degree before he enrolls at his next college.
I was not thinking of that. Isn't their conversations each year with coaches and players about taking a "medical retirement" from the game?I would assume most guys aren’t gonna just voluntarily give up their scholarship
has powlus ever been hurt? hard to medically process him.I was not thinking of that. Isn't their conversations each year with coaches and players about taking a "medical retirement" from the game?
Especially guys who are simply holding a spot due to their name/family. Not sure this is the case with Powlus, but seems like a legit option if the spot is needed if you ask me. I am sure there as legal ways to "compensate" after he is graduated.
Ryan Roberts just reiterated that Card will be graduating next month and he has always been a high academic kid.Da-Dum that’s big
Noooo, not the beetusI could have sworn I read something about Powlus having diabetes...
