Man with the transfers, number changes, incoming players, it’s getting difficult to remember everyone by number anymore. Either that or my CRS is kicking in high gear as I get older!

one thing i HATE is seeing numbers recycled from basically all time ND greats straight to freshman. There's no way Flanagan should be playing TE and wearing 87 after Mayer. Just give it a break for a year and then assign it to some WR or something

I take it these are for people who come here for football rather than food discussion?
no no we spend the time on here discussing the beat report, and when the beat report gives an actual report we keep it behind closed doors.

It's brilliant.

What if the outgoing player gives the freshman the number?

Maybe Mayer should have shown a little more hustle. Just sayin...

meh a freshman gotta do something to deserve that. Just signing with ND isn't enough
There are 105 players on the team, who have a jersey. Some kids double up, but pretty much every number gets used.
And if you want a kid, & he asks for a number that is available, you give it to him.

Oh i'm on the side freeman did NOT have a plan with Rees and clearly learned a tough lesson. Freeman is stating he has plans for everyone, i don't think that was true until after Rees.

Others are stating coaches would never be prepared if someone left right before fall camp.
What makes you think he didn’t have a plan? You’re wanting this to be fact instead of it actually being fact.

Competing philosophies:
Aisle #1: Savvy Jack: “Hire from within, it’s cheaper”

Aisle #2: Nick Saban: “Let’s fire up the jet and get who I want.”
Wow you brought up Jack again. I’m so shocked. He brought in the top DC candidate in the country two years ago and beat out LSU doing so. But yes, keep going off because of Andy fucking Ludwig

"Savvy Jack" "Five Stars" and "top 25 vs. top 10 program"

It's the same few posts over and over and over

He looks like he threw that with ease... Maybe Angeli has the makings of a good QB

Something I thought was notable that Pete said on the last II podcast was that all the QBs were getting a lot more work than prior years. Said he could remember previous fall camps where the backup QBs would get only a couple of reps in the whole practice, which seems crazy to me. I'm hopeful the new approach helps with the development of some of the promising QBs waiting in the wings.

Yup, makes me feel so much better about player development. I fully expect us to actually blow teams out and then let the backups get some action.

Which is just dumb if that was the case. There's plenty of drills that can be structured in a way to have them all throwing. Sure, once you go 1v1, or 2v2, it gets tougher. And that should be for pretty much every position. We haven't worked backups in hardly at all in recent years.

Is this what development feels like?

I want to believe he didn't have a plan and learned his lesson vs the way the OC search went down. If that was him executing on his plan that would be even more alarming

Have a starting QB that needs fewer practice reps, spend more time on QB2 and 3. Harder to do when the starter is what they've gone into camp with the past couple of years.
