That’s right, Blue - Gold Game Draft?!
I was gonna ask, that's new and kind of exciting. I go every year to the game, mostly just to road trip to campus and enjoy a tailgate, but I'm actually really looking forward to the game itself, more than usual.

Will be nice to see Freeman and the new staff and I'm looking forward to the Pyne/Buchner battle.

Now there's a draft...could be more competitive than previous years!

I take it that they are not having a Coach's Clinic again this year??

ND's gonna lose a potential starter because his feelings get hurt during the draft lol

This could honestly be a real thing. Not that the Draft doesn't sound cool, but someone is going to be the "Last" pick or a late pick or whatever and could blow up. Who knows

Full spring access only one day. Partial access (what does that mean-10 min of stretching?) 3 days. So it doesn't look like media access will be that much difference than before.

Hopefully the draft is moreso the depth chart is set and they are picking position units... 1st team OL, 2nd team LBs etc. A draft picking 80+ people sounds too drawn out of a process, and like you said could blow up.

I sincerely hope they'll have the "Draft" behind closed doors and not have it with all the kids present, and just announce the rosters. I can't imagine they're looking to fracture the kids' egos this spring lol

All the talking heads definitely had a sad on yesterday, they were all thinking the flood gates of access were opening.

Nah, line them up against the wall like Kickball recess style. Only the strong survive.

Where was this reported?

Additionally, I'm hoping for more position coach / player access. I don't anticipate a free for all on the field for media. But optimistic Freeman is going to let the coaches/players build their brand through media time.

5 sessions in total will be open to the media, with 2 of them being full access.

Nope, sounds like Freeman is out to spark some competition by putting captains in charge, feelings be damned.

They're even going to make the captains available to the media to explain their draft picks

The schedule on 247 had only 3/26 as full access and looks like a copy paste from the email they were sent. On3 and Tyler James had it at only 1 as well.

Maybe he was including the B&G game as full access.

The increased media access is more in the realm of access to players/coaches for interviews.

In that area, the media is getting FAR more than before.

I don't know how other programs do it, but I can't say I blame coaches for wanting to limit access to practice as much as possible.

I don't really know what to think about this.

I love the concept of competition, but I also want to see the first team units function in a live-ish game environment.

From accounts from folks like Cam Hart on the pod, I doubt a little draft fun will hurt more feelings than the jawing these guys do at practice. If it does that’s a problem with the kid upset. Anyways, yeah I doubt we’re lining up almost 85 + walks on and saying Styles you’re with me. There is gonna be something slightly preset to it.

Pretty cool article from 247 on the way Freeman is engaging the football alumni. I thought this quote was pretty telling:

He’s created a whole spring game weekend,” Pritchett said. “We come in on Thursday. There’s a cocktail party on Thursday night, a golf tournament Friday, a meeting with all the players in an interactive kind of thing one of those days. He wants all the players to come down on the field and be on the sideline for the Blue-Gold Game. This is powerful.

“On a scale of one to a hundred, we were at a one and now we’re at 85. Where this could go is all very positive in my opinion.”

I'm genuinely surprised that stuff like this hasn't always been the default. Just seems like such a no brainer and strong selling point.

Irish Breakdown reporting that Foskey and Jayson Ademilola won't be participating in spring practice. Not sure to what extent, or if it is injury related. Any other Talking Heads reporting this?

Sooo they wont be participating in implementing a new defense? I highly doubt that. I can see limiting them to an extent but I highly doubt they wont participating.

Maybe no participation in physical contact? Seems weird. How else do you get your timing down, work on areas that need improvement and work on new moves?

Agreed. Seems very weird and unlikely. Must be injury related, I would think. You gotta football to football well.
Injury related or injury prevention?
The fact that these are two guys who chose to come back instead enter the draft (and have no known injury issues) makes me wonder if there was some agreement to lighten their load - and thus injury risk - in spring ball as part of their coming back. Would be pretty stupid and costly if Foskey tore up his knee in a spring practice drill, after all.
Even then it's gotta mean no contact, not no participation, right?

I believe JA had offseason shoulder surgery.
