I thought this was interesting. Players still on current roster from NFL Draft. This was from 2020. NFL roster is 53 players.
NFL teams have an average of 23.4 of their own draft picks on their current roster.
Another thing is the guys signed to an extension after their rookie contract. The most players on a team that originally drafted them that signed an extension or resigned after their rookie contract was 10 (saints), 9 (Bengals, Steelers, Eagles, 8 (Ravens). The two teams in the Super Bowl that season was the Chiefs - 18 players drafted, 12 on rookie contracts, 6 signed and stayed on after rookie contract. Bucs - 25 players drafted on the team, 21 on rookie contracts, 6 signed on to stay later.
The team with the most players drafted were Bengals, Steelers, Panthers.
Its interesting to see to pick apart if the draft really matters. A lot to consider though. Some team draft well and some don't. It also helps having a top 5 NFL Franchise QB.
Being able to evaluate, draft and retain talent is essential when building a successful NFL franchise. Teams that continually have success in finding serviceable players through the draft put themselves in a much better situation than teams that have to build their roster through free agency...
