8h45m Drive - Never Visited

Was going through Nicholas Singleton's II page earlier and I decided to post this. ND's chasing a good amount of RB's already. They've offered and are recruiting 5 currently. I listed the extra non-offered ones who are "in-region" prospects that aren't far away. That would be Jordan James, Arlen Harris Jr, and Gi'Bran Payne. Lance Taylor followed Gi'Bran Payne recently and he seems like a good fit with all of his high academic offers. I hope ND can get offers out to Payne and also Arlen Harris Jr too. Harris just got offered by Stanford so books aren't the problem. I believe his dad is Gabriel Rubio's HC and he's been to ND a bunch of times. I really hope ND gets at least 1 4* RB cause it is setting up that there could be up to 7 4*+ RB's with interest in ND. I hope Lance Taylor doesn't go all in on Nicholas Singleton or Gavin Sawchuk and then pivot when Arlen Harris, Gi'Bran Payne, and Dillon Tatum are all committed. I hope he's attacking all of their recruitments hard. We'll see but I think I am setting myself up to be disappointed when I see ND's RB board for 2022 cause I am excited and hopeful.

Every year.... Every year the offers go out to great prospects and I always feel like "next year we'll kill it in recruiting". With out fail, this happens every year. And what do you know? Here it is again.

Maybe Coronavirus prevents that from happening but if it opens back up and they’ve had Sawchuk, Singleton, and Harris Jr (no offer) on campus with the possibility of Tatum and Payne (if offered) driving less than 4 hours to visit. I know it’s not a dart board but at a certain point someone has to like the Golden Dome and Lance Taylor enough. That’s why ND’s visits in March were so important to be cancelled. I think and hope 2022 will be a rebound for some of these position groups!

I will say that Mike Frank today mentioned the fact that we didn't get our biggest visit weekend in before the pandemic affected us greatly. He can be the downer at ISD, but he was certain we would have locked in quite a few of our top targets already had they been able to visit.

Thinks we would have landed Shipley if he visited. Thinks we would have landed two of Rucci, Spindler, and Tengwall if not all three. Thornton might have jumped on board and Colzie would still be on board. Maybe Deuce Harmon and Fidone.

It was some of the biggest what if scenarios I have seen, and even if just half of that came true, people would have been amazed. Missing that weekend really killed us because kids haven't been on campus in forever.

Frank also cried about ND not having their visit sooner in a earlier pod. Said they won't make that mistake again. Like ND should have somehow known that "the rona" was coming. Jamie is awesome, most of ISD is awesome, but after that, I decided that Dude is a clown and I have better PODs to listen to. Frank has a very punchable voice

I think this is more to the idea of having more Junior Days than just the timing. There were guys in that March 21 group that would’ve come to a January junior day if invited. The idea is to have one maybe once a month in the spring instead of one or two giant ones cause if something happens or guys have schedule conflicts then it goes out the window. They had like 50 visitors lines for March 21. I know it makes it harder on the coaches cause they’ll have to work weekends more often but Penn State for example and Clemson throw junior days all the time like maybe even once a month from January-April to maximize the amount of unofficial visitors on campus.

I get that and get what you are saying. That is not really how Frank made it come across, at least to me. I don't have a Driskell level of disgust, but he is in 2nd forsure.

In ND's defense, I can see why having a couple big ones in the spring makes the most sense. Spring in South Bend > Winter in South Bend, and to have commits mixed with recruits and current players is a wise strategy for ND, a multi pronged approach.

Yea you are totally right! I can't point to the exact person but someone on staff was asked a few months back why they had their Junior Day in March instead of January and they basically said the exact same thing which is that the spring is a heck of a lot better in South Bend than the winter plus they can actually see the guys workout for spring ball which is better. I do think they should have a January junior day now that recruiting for ND essentially ends for the previous class in December. I think it makes sense to at least get some of the midwest kids up to South Bend in January so they can make it to campus and they won't be scared off by some snow.

Don't know where those drive times came from, but several are inaccurate if the time is from their location to SB.

Regardless, glad to see they're loading up on RB recruits.

Jordan James - 7h19m - 7h15m
Gi’Bran Payne - 3h51m - 3h45m
Arlen Harris Jr. - 5h52m - 5h45m
Dillon Tatum - 3h18m - 3h15m
Dallan Hayden - 9h4m - 8h45m

So sorry for the inaccuracies. Here’s the google map amount to the left of what I put. Example, La Salle High School in Cincinnati to Notre Dame Stadium. Thanks for the nitpicking though

My apologies if I came across wrong. Wasn't trying to be a dick. Distance and drive times for recruits and parents to watch games always gets discussed and I just happened to notice a couple seemed off.

Is Arlen Harris gonna get the "if we offer it's over so let's slow play' treatment? How about Joe Strickland? Or are we just purely not sold on them?

. . . .and Steve Angelli. So is this a situation where who ever commits first they take? If so Angelli is gonna commit quick.

People over on II seem to want Wimsatt over Angeli. I watched Angeli's tape and liked what I saw. His offer list is also very good.
