I have decided to add "Alabama Pro Day" to my bucket list. I need to see one in person before Saban retires.

Draft daddy Kiper has again updated his draft rankings this morning via an ESPN.com Insider article as we quickly approach draft weekend. We got some risers!

https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2021/...ospects-best-position-mel-kiper-new-big-board

JOK is actually down to #19 overall, which seems to be more in line with where he is projected to be drafted. Our dreams of a top 10 pick have pretty much fizzled out especially as QB appears to be absorbing all the oxygen at the top of the draft. Other ND players of note:

Tight end: # 4 Tremble
Offensive Tackle: # 5 Liam
Guard: # 3 Banks; # 7 Hainsey
Outside Linebacker: # 1 JOK

Gotta admit I'm surprised neither of the ends made the top 10 at their position this go around, but we shall see what other buzz shakes out over the next month. I think ultimately Notre Dame has 7 - 8 players picked which would be strong to quite strong.

I actually think 9-10 guys will get drafted. All 4 OL, Tremble, 2 DE’s, JOK and borderline guys McCloud, Wright and Book.

With Castanzo retiring, the Colts will most likely look at taking an LOT to pair with Q. The kid out of VT seems to be something of a consensus with a lot of analysis. Read where Liam doesn't have the skill set to play that in the NFL and will have to move to the right side.

I'm hopeful he still sneaks in the first round, almost every mock draft has a LOT of teams snapping him up with the first few picks of the second round, but hopefully that demand gets somebody to make a move and keep the Kelly LT streak alive.

If the Bengals take Jamarr Chase at #5, they're going best OL available in round #2.

It would be cool if it were Liam, but I doubt that's who they'll view as 'best available' based on his skill set.

REALLY hoping they target Banks in round 3. That's an instant upgrade at OG, even with his testing issues.

If they go WR - OL - OL in an OL-deep draft, I'll be satisfied.

Honestly just hope they draft Sewell and figure out WR later on, though. Protecting Burrow is more important than getting him the pass-catcher that he wants.

It's supposed to be a deep draft for O-line and the Bengals would be wise to get some protection in place for Burrows.

That's why I'm conflicted about the #5 pick. All signs point to them drafting Chase if he's there, which would be stupid.

BUT.

The draft is so deep at OL, that they can still grab starters on the OL in the 2nd (OT) and 3rd (OG) if they draft Chase at #5.

But Sewell is so good, that he's probably Burrow's LT for the next 10+ years, so I would prefer they take him, and rely on getting a speedster at WR later on.

Take the protection. Look what Q did for Indy. Castanzo became instantly better. Heard on the radio the difference in quality and performance was much greater between 1st and 2nd round O-line picks than it is for receivers. Also mentioned that if you took Chase, they'd be like Texas Tech. Put up a lot of yardage between the 20's, glossy numbers and a .500 record.

This all the way. Protect your future and give the QB time to find the open guy. You can find playmakers in the 2nd, 3rd or even 4th round.

I would not be mad if the Chiefs used every single one of their picks on OL.

Interesting discussions on Fields. Now I'm hearing he may drop down to around the tenth pick.

Didn't they already make moves to upgrade half the line or more? I am very curious to see where Liam ends up - I think he is a future pro-bowler.

I'm not sure that signing Kyle Long should be considered anything other than depth. He was pretty well beaten up his last year in the League, and spent a year retired before coming back. Thuney should be a great signing though, and trading for Brown is great.

Panthers traded Bridgewater to Broncos and will still eat most of his salary.

It sounds more and more like the Bengals are locked in on Ja’Marr Chase at no. 5.

Rd 1: Chase
Rd 2: OT
Rd 3: OG
Rd 4: EDGE
Rd 5: Robert Hainsey
Rd 6: ???
Rd 7: ???

Hainsey is gonna be a steal for some team that realizes he can plug-and-play anywhere and still operate efficiently with whoever is next to him. I hope it’s the Bengals, and I hope they plug him in at guard and somehow steal three starting OL from the same draft even AFTER passing on Sewell in rd. 1

He reminds me of a rich man's Brissett.
Quality backup, a better passer than JB, but still not the starter you want.
I know some MN fans that were unhappy they didn't keep him, and still would prefer him over Cousins.
I just don't see it.

Chase: Dude, I was wide open. Why didn't you hit me?
Burrows: It's hard to see anyone when you're lying on your back.

The way he's getting moved around, there are a number of GM's that agree with you. Did the Broncos get him to compete for the starters position or have a fairly decent backup on the roster?

Heard on the radio that there is a distinct possibility that no defensive player gets taken in the top 10 picks. That would be a first.

Who is the one player projected in the top two rounds that everyone is SURE is going to be a bust?

Mine would be Kellen Mond, followed closely by Davis Mills.

I don't know about a BUST bust, but I can't believe so many people are projecting Kwity Paye so high. I get that he's a crazy physical specimen but his production is so lackluster. Feels like an old school bust, he may be productive but i can't imagine it being worth a top 10ish pick.

Of the big 5 QBs. I think 2 will have big time careers, 1 will be David Carr, Bridgewater level, and 2 will be busts.

Wilson to me is a bust.

Oooh this is tough. Mond seems like a good choice.

of the highly touted QB's...hate to say it as a NDSU alum, but I think Trey Lance will bust.

1. Played on an all-star team and still had to win games with his legs. Multiple teams took away a run-first team like NDSU's passing game. He did light up some teams through the air, but had a few serious duds as well.

2. Unlike Wentz, never showed that he could shred higher competition (say what you will about Iowa State several years ago, but every single kid on Wentz's team would have killed for an ISU offer). Hate to hold the level of competition over his head but it would be nice to have seen him play against a team of superior talent in a hostile venue.

Overall, he threw a lot of passes to wide open guys. If nobody is wide open, it seemed like he'd tuck and run. Wentz on the other hand in college was dropping dimes left and right on a far less talented team.

Maybe he ends up being a stud, has a big arm and is apparently bright, but it seems real aggressive to take a chance on an FCS kid with one year of experience in the top 5-10 picks.

I'd guess it will be Wilson. You play QB for the Jets, you're doomed. Next would be Mac Jones. He was surrounded by so much talent at Bama, he couldn't fail. Third would be Fields. OSU rarely produces a QB that can transition to the pros.

Heard earlier this morning two teams inquired about trading for Aaron Rogers. Now being reported that Aaron Rogers does not want to return to the Packers. WTF?

Yeah, this broke and pretty much put the Tim Tebow news on the back burner immediately. Plus it's draft day, so these Rodgers rumors blow everything else out of the water.

I think trading up for Jordan Love last year kinda pissed him off.

I don't think he's going to be traded. NFL players just don't have the trade leverage of their North American counterparts. It's probably easier for an NHL player to be traded if he demands one.
