Surprised IE's Chili Tech brotherhood didn't post this already.

Full schedule is out and it's tailor made to get to the playoffs. Four true road games, 8 home games and Wiscy at Soldier Field... ND's other home field.

Sept. 6 - @ Florida State

Sept. 11 - TOLEDO

Sept. 18 - PURDUE

Sept. 25 - Wisconsin (Soldier Field, Chicago - an away game on paper but ND owns Soldier Field)

Oct. 2 - CINCINNATI

Oct. 9 - @ Va Tech

Oct. 16 - Bye Week

Oct. 23 - USC

Oct. 30 - NORTH CAROLINA

Nov. 6 - NAVY

Nov. 13 - @ Virginia

Nov. 20 - GEORGIA TECH

Nov. 27 - @ Stanford

Tailor made? We gotta get through the 2020 and 2021 Heisman Trophy winner, Rondale Moore.

What are the chances this schedule remains intact? I know its an impossible question to answer but interesting to think about after this year. I like the schedule and its funny what 1 year can change. That run of Purdue, Wisconsin, Cincy, VT could be tricky.

Post bye week is an absolute gauntlet if it stays intact.

Serious?

I think this year's team (as of the last two weeks) sleepwalks backwards holding a beer w/o spilling vs that schedule. Wiscy loses by 10 at best and that's as close as it gets.

If Book does what all the experts say he won't and returns, ND gets to the final four once again.

I agree, this year's team steamrolls that schedule. Next year? New Oline and possibly new QB? May be a bit tougher unless Buchner is the answer and these young receivers finally show.

I think a lot is conditional on Book returning. This year's team would smack them all around. Next year could be very different.

USC may have a new coach then which would make them dangerous. Even if not they're still USC and it's a rivalry game.

UNC is going to be a top 10 team next year. If they become even half way decent on defense that's going to be one of the games of the year.

Navy is a pain in the ass to play.

@Virginia feels like a trap game and they're always banged up after Navy.

Georgia Tech is going to be improved, to what degree is TBD.

@Stanford may be the easiest of that stretch to be honest.

It is all around a solid, tough schedule IMO. The trickiest one in the first half IMO is Virginia Tech as it comes off what will likely be pretty big games against Wisconsin and Cincinnati back to hack and pre-bye week. We know Wisconsin is the biggest game of the year and they will be ready to play.

Solid schedule but there isn't a game we shouldn't be comfortably favored in.

Feels like we're entering a Clemson circa 2015 phase. Damn good but just short. Hopefully we can keep pushing and get over the hump like they have.

I get that it's essentially a home game, but I'm a bit worried that with Hayes and Ade moving on, the run defense might suffer. I expect the interior to return, but maybe Hinish leaves too

It may look difficult at the start of the season but as the season gets played out a lot of these games will start looking easier, similar to what happened in the tail-end of 2017 and 2018.

I think its a really bold prediction that UNC will be top 10 next year, btw. Most people expected them to ranked at this point this year, but as we saw they aren't immune to dropping games against lesser opponents. Not saying they won't be ranked, necessarily. I'd be surprised with top 10 though.

Our offense could be almost completely overturned next year with the exception of Kyren and Mayer. Our defense should still be real solid with losing a couple of key pieces.

It’s hard to project schedules even a year in advance, a lot can happen. FSU and USC are loaded with talent, those games could look a lot different if someone competent replaces Helton and Norvell recovers from an erratic COVID complicated first year.

Also, see the North Carolina 2020 game thread. Their offensive playmakers (besides Howell who is the most important and makes the world go round) are Juniors and Seniors. If Brown, Newsome, Carter, and Williams all jump to the League, their offense will look different.

I don't want to come down too hard on Skowronek and McKinley, because they've been gamers for us this year, but getting Austin and Lenzy back in a full capacity is huge. Also think ND has a lot of young talent that should be able to make the jump. Between guys like Johnson and Watts, potentially a day one impact guy in Styles, ND should be better at receiver.

OL was a concern for me, but the silver lining of the Patterson injury is that it forces some of next year's starters into action. Next season was going to be a situation where Correll bumped Patterson out to guard or Hainsey was moved to center and Lugg or Carroll replaced him. ND gets a head start in that regard. If Banks returns at bumps out to LT, that mitigates the loss of Eichenberg a bit, and I'm not in the least bit worried about guard. This group has a lot more talent and depth behind the top 5 than they did after 2017.

Also, not totally convinced Tremble leaves early. Don't get me wrong, his blocking is easily the best among any TE in the country, but I think he could stand to prove more as a receiver. I was also going to say that he could really use a bit of a weight gain, but found that he's listed at 6'4 247 pounds, which is WAY bigger than I had him pegged at his biggest. I was expecting him to cap at 6'3 and maybe a little over 240. Having him and Mayer back, with a generally more dynamic receiver corp will make life easier for whoever the QB is going to be.

Can't imagine USC lets Helton go this year, unless USC completely tanks. USC was in dire straits financially before COVID, but now, I can't see how they would be willing to eat 3 years of his contract with all the bullsh*t going on in that dept and with COVID ravaging their revenue streams.

As for Norvell, I'll be straight up. He is not going to have this program on the right track for a while. Florida State is rotten to the core and things are not getting better this year. Things under Jimbo Fisher got so toxic and it continued to perpetuate during the Taggert years. Norvell is dealing with Tennessee-levels of incompetence and dysfunction. This is post-Mack Brown Texas but ten fold.

Not to mention, FSU isn't really all that loaded with talent. Their recruiting has been decent over the past few years, but nothing special. Their recruiting classes have ranked 11th, 18th and 22nd, with their current class sitting at 21st. ND is not only the better program, but they are now more talented.

And almost completely barren at OL IIRC.

Anything above 10-2 should be gravy considering the likely loss of Book + most of the OL. Should have a top 10 defense but expect some growing pains on offense that may cost us against Wisconsin, UNC, Cincinnati and USC
