So two guys that are vying for one spot and 2 guys that don’t have offers. Seems like a reasonable response.

These posts are disingenuous. That’s not the entirety of the board, no need to act like it is. Just like we don’t need to complain about UM out recruiting us if we, in fact, wouldn’t trade classes with them.

Hunter Spears has also joined the oline. So 3 recruits this cycle would be fine.

Forgot about him. I read it is temporarily permanent haha. Kinda one of those things where if they have numbers then he’d be back at DLine but he was just a matter of depth for spring ball. He’s definitely OLine right now but I hope he’s back at DLine ASAP cause he’s got no future at OG vs I could see him helping out at DT at some point. DT takes a lot more bodies to operate and it is an easier path to playing time. Maybe not starting time, but playing time.

The possibility of a 2nd TE got me thinking that I’d rather just add another one of the DB ATH’s. So, here’s a theoretical rundown of what I was cooking up.

I agree with everything except I think one of those 7 above will be a DB/LB or LB. Taking 1 this cycle would seem low. Other than that it seems totally right. Don’t know why they’d take a 6th TE when technically none of them lose eligibility until after 2022 (except Brock Wright). Technically you could take 1 in 2022 and be at 6 TE’s as well. I think that’s the year where they’ll shoot for 2 cause Tremble and Takacs finish potentially their 5th years after that point. I’d go 1-2 every year and #2 should be a special prospect if you can get one.

Lot of new offers recently. I guess our coaches realize we aren't getting traction on most of our outstanding offers, as has been reported on 247 and elsewhere.

Gotta widen that net. Evaluation is tougher this year. I suspect our class won't be full on Dec 1st like it has been in recent years. That's OK if our staff turnover is not bad.

What a weird year. I do feel like the fire is burning in our coaches for when they can get to recruits in person again. No sources on said fire, just a hunch. BK called a top 5 and they had a monster freaking weekend set for commits. Covid took that out. I think they believe in the plan.

Execute this year in weird times and get after that plan next cycle. I won't be shocked if we don't grab 3+ flips this year.

You'll get a kick out of this. Dallas Turner was a big time hoops prospect up until he blew out his knee in 2018. His Dad's Delon Turner, he was an All American at FAMU back in the early 90's that Dick Vitale nicknamed , Baby Barkley. Didn't make the League, had a good career overseas, came back and bought some Subways and Foot Lockers. Did very well, had to go back and finish his FAMU degree and then got an MBA from Kellogg. Now he's on Wall Street.

SO... if ND would've offered a year ago, this is the type of kid who MIGHT listen to dad and pick ND, NW, Vandy, etc...

But everyone seems to think it's Bama so nevermind.

He’s got the Stanford, Northwestern and other good academic offers. But for kids especially in Florida when the big factory schools come calling it is hard to turn down. Especially when they come calling so much earlier than ND. If you bring up Kevin Austin as an example, I’d mention yea ND was his 20th offer but he really had UM, Kentucky, and Tennessee as his Deep South offers before ND. ND was before UF, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Oregon, USC, Auburn, and Clemson. Philip Riley might be another but ND was only really “late” by one month behind Clemson and behind USC, Penn State and Oregon. Many of the big schools offered right around ND’s time. Anyway I’m rambling but Dallas Turner is at 0.35% in my book of coming to ND.

My understanding of the situation is that if he were to choose sooner than later, we're out. However, the longer his recruitment goes we could see us gain serious traction.

It's a positive update...but still wouldn't count on it. The longer this goes, the better for ND imo. Landing Spindler might help.

Yep. This is one of those, I'm the best QB and I'll prove it situations. He apparently went back to Minnesota because they told him he'd play QB but they have another QB in this class, Athan Kaliakmanis, who's a stud. Sam probably realized he didn't have much of a chance competing against him.
