Mel Kiper the Younger posted his 2 round mock draft a couple days ago on the ESPN.com as an Insider EXCLUSIVE.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2020/insider/story/_/id/29023192/2020-nfl-mock-draft-40-mel-kiper-two-round-predictions-herbert-tagovailoa-more

Let's get it!

1st Round: Sadface.

2nd Round:

43. Chicago Bears (from LV)
Cole Kmet, TE, Notre Dame

Still rates as best TE of a not great bunch.

48. New York Jets
Chase Claypool, WR, Notre Dame

High ceiling choice.

54. Buffalo Bills
Julian Okwara, DE/OLB, Notre Dame

Versatile pass rusher who can get some early reps.

I'm really hoping Indy takes either Claypool or Kmet with either 34 or 44. I'd love both. We need an upgrade at X in the worst way and Claypool is + size with speed. I think we're better at TE than most think after losing Ebron, but I'd still love to snag Kmet. If not, there's several quality TEs that should be available through the 4th... but love me some Kmet.

I've said it for months that I think Claypool will be a steal and should go in the 1st round. I think Kmet in Indy would be dangerous, he is every bit as good as Henry and Rivers got him straight up PAID this offseason.

I think the Niners probably take Lamb or somebody at 13 and trade back the 31st, but I would rather they trade back the 13 for a boatload of picks and take Claypool in the 1st. Him, Deebo, and Kittle could be scary.

WR is funny in terms of the draft. 6-3 or more Xs seem to fall a lot, and that's really what the Colts need (so I guess that's a good thing). Higgins, who has played every position is the only one I think will go 1st. He could line up anywhere for any team. Mimms who is tall too, is likely more Z than X due to some short comings getting off the line even at that height, but could develop into an X. I'd be happy getting Claypool or Pittman (makes me throw up a little saying that).

TE is always a bit devalued like 6-3 or more Xs in the draft. But you're spot on. Kmet with Rivers would be really nice. I really wonder though what the Colts are thinking in general about TE. I could see them giving Moe Allie Cox a shot at the detached TE position, and taking a TE later. MAC was really developing well before the Brissett experiment.

Can't wait for the draft!

why i would love Kmet to the bears. They have bigger needs and not many picks. They also have plenty of TEs on roster

The week leading up to the draft might be better than the draft itself. And with the 2020 draft being as unpredictable than any other draft in recent memory, the rumors are better than ever. Jay Glazer is about as good as it gets when it comes to insider information.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">The third and fourth picks of next week’s <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/nfldraft?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#nfldraft</a> are for sale, obviously for right price, but that alone already makes this way more unpredictable than recent drafts</p>— Jay Glazer (@JayGlazer) <a href="https://twitter.com/JayGlazer/status/1251266281111617536?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 17, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I hope Detroit shocks the world and drafts a QB at 3. That would cause huge ripples throughout the rest of the draft. You'd probably see Jordan Love go in the top 10 if that happened.

Any idea on the ramifications of Tua's super low wonderlic score (reported 13, lowest for QBs in this draft class)?

I watch the draft, but not a huge nut and don't do the research.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...a-ranks-lowest-among-quarterbacks-per-report/

In the article below, you'll see that there are plenty of players with low wonderlic scores that went on to have Hall of Fame careers. Also, you'll see players with high scores that end up being NFL duds.

Personally, I don't put too much into it. It is about as worthless as the 40 yard dash.

I`ve drafted for Detroit using the pff simulator with which you can trade up or down. Detroit trading back with Miami for theirthree first round picks i(5, 18, 26) in the first and a second rounder and gives the Lions Okudah anyway or four picks in the first two rds with a top CB later than their first pick.

QB to me, especially in some more complicated O schemes, makes the score a bit more important IMO. There's a lot more processing and learning that takes place at QB. Not saying Tua is dumb, or won't be a great QB in the NFL, but it certainly is a flag to consider.

But ouch for both Bama guys (Tua and Hurts).

Nate Stanley (Iowa): 40
Jake Fromm (Georgia); 35
Joe Burrow (LSU): 34
Jake Luton (Oregon State): 29
Jordan Love (Utah State): 27
Justin Herbert (Oregon): 25
Anthony Gordon (Washington State): 25
Brian Lewerke (Michigan State): 25
Jacob Eason (Washington): 23
James Morgan (Florida International): 23
Jalen Hurts (Oklahoma): 18
Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama): 13

The NFL is conducting it's virtual mock draft/test run right now... and in news shocking to exactly nobody, the Bengals had technical difficulties with the first pick lmao.

It would make perfect sense that billionaire Mike Brown has 2mb internet in his house, and is sitting in his home 'office' that is probably 4 floors away from his router in the basement or wherever he had the cable company stash it, making it impossible for him or any Bengals staffers to make a pick via video chat.

Hopefully Zac Taylor can just send a text to Roger Goodell that says "Joe Burreaux" when the draft starts.

Reports have come out that the dolphins and lions have discussions about the #3 pick, but that Miami wants to keep the #5 pick as well. If you are the lions GM do you accept the 18th, 26th, 39th, and 56th pick in return to do this trade if dolphins agree.

I think what's between the ears is the most important factor. There are plenty of guys with great arms, but the great QB's are able to read the defense and process everything quickly once the ball is snapped. Manning, Brees and Brady never had cannons for arms.

The biggest thing about Tua is his health. He isn't the most athletic QB and got dinged up a lot playing behind a very good O-line. He had trouble getting away from defenses. In the NFL the defense is going to be bigger and faster. That along with his height is going to play a factor on where he gets drafted.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's still using an old AOL dial-up connection.

Lions about to do something stupid :/

Reports now are saying that Bob Quinn isn't going to deal #3 if #5 isn't included. Lions are guaranteed to get one of Okudah/Simmons/Brown at #5 so I think it's smart. The Giants might take Simmons at 4, but are probably going to draft a "hog molly".

I'd rather have it say "Joe Exotic"

taking Okudah at 3 is a reach but 5 wouldnt be so bad. I'd rather see them take Simmons though

I'm wondering if Miami gets real nuts and tries to trade their whole draft to Cincy for Burrow.

I'm really not worried about the score, but the score + health is enough to make me pass. I don't really think he's going to struggle with the playbook given time. He's just got to learn to throw the ball away. All of his injuries were him trying to extend plays (which worked a lot of the time). I think as long as he gets good coaching, he'll be fine in both mind and body areas.

I'm just not that high on Okudah. I think he's top 20 no doubt, but not top 10. Time will tell, but some of the film I watched just didn't punch me in the face as top 10. Not sure he'll do so well if he goes to a team without a great DL.

I'm wondering if Miami gets real nuts and tries to trade their whole draft to Cincy for Burrow.

Miami certainly has the draft capital to do it. Either team could literally become a competitor with Miami's draft picks. Honestly though might be better for Miami to trade into next year's first round and build capital to get either a Lawrence or Fields.

It's the most wonderful time of the yeeeeaaaarrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

Indeed:

Just saw this: Fun #Browns draft idea: Trade a Day 2 pick for Trent Williams and then take CeeDee Lamb at No. 10.

With no OTAs or minicamp, that’s a LT who knows the OL coach and a WR who knows the QB.

The offense would have 7 Pro Bowlers and 7 first-round picks. Good luck to all defenses.

"The Cincinnati Bengals have told the Miami Dolphins multiple times that they would not trade the No. 1 overall pick in Thursday's NFL draft, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Dolphins called on more than one occasion over the past few weeks but were told by the Bengals that they are not trading the pick and will stay at No. 1, sources said."
