After an early bye, we're back for week three, where we get to watch the Irish try to tune things up for their match with UGA. Not a great slate of games, but a bunch of matchups that are pretty interesting for various reasons.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 13
North Carolina @ Wake Forest - 6:00 PM - ESPN
- It's Friday the 13th... let's get weird while Mack Brown tries to get UNC to a 3-0 start (!)
- Wake Forest has an offense that rates very well. Could be a shootout.
Kansas @ Boston College - 7:30 PM - ACCN
- Les Miles takes his Jayhawks to try and stop AJ Dillon
- Boston College's Zay Flowers might be one of the most exciting freshman in the country, no joke
#20 Washington State vs Houston - 9:15 PM - ESPN
- Like I said, pretty interesting games even if they don't feature great teams squaring off
- Mike Leach offense vs a Houston offense that could be very good, but needs to get rolling
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14
#3 Georgia vs Arkansas State - 12:00 PM - ESPN2
- Scout next week's opponent
- Arkansas State has a pretty good offense... let's see if they exploit anything in UGA's defense for ND to attack
#6 Ohio State @ Indiana - 12:00 PM - FOX
- Ohio State has won 30-straight games in this series, while Indiana has given them recent scares
- Too much "winning streak" juju going on here. Upset alert?
#13 Penn State vs Pittsburgh
- A rivalry game where Penn State thinks they are worlds better than Pitt, and for almost zero reason (recently)
- The only game where I root for Pitt
#21 Maryland @ Temple
- Upstart Maryland, with a great offense, faces a legit defense for the first time this season
- Temple looks to make a statement... legit AAC contenders that are mentioned behind UCF and UC. Statement game?
Cincinnati vs Miami (OH) - 12:00 PM - ESPNU
- Go Bearcats
#7 NOTRE DAME vs New Mexico - 2:30 PM - NBC
- Knock off the rust early after a bye week
- Operate more efficiently than against Louisville
- Tune up for UGA
- Stay healthy
- Go Irish
#2 Alabama @ South Carolina - 3:30 - CBS
- Bama goes on the road
- Bama will probably roll
#17 UCF vs Stanford - 3:30 PM - ESPN
- This might legit be a make-or-break game for Stanford's season
- UCF is either gonna run them out of the stadium, or Stanford is going to show some fortitude and show they will be a tough out all year
- I hope UCF beats them so bad that Wimbush gets to play
#24 USC @ BYU - 3:30 PM - ABC
- Scout USC, and see if the freshman looks legit again
- Is BYU riding TOO high after beating Tennessee? If USC gets up by two scores early, it could get ugly
#18 Michigan State vs Arizona State - 4:00 PM - FOX
- Herm takes the Sun Devils on the road
- Any time Herm plays a ranked team, it's gonna be an upset alert because Herm gets weird
#19 Iowa @ Iowa State - 4:00 PM - FS1
- CyHawk Trophy!
- FNDHCCWL member Matt Campbell can make a statement with an Iowa State win
#9 Florida @ Kentucky - 7:00 PM - ESPN
- UK beat the Gators last year... can they do it again, or is Florida out for revenge?
- UK doesn't have Benny Snell, and they lost Bounce Pass Wilson to a season-ending injury. Florida wins bigly.
#1 Clemson @ Syracuse - 7:30 PM - ABC
- Syracuse knows how to play Clemson close... let's get weird in the Carrier Dome
- Seriously, tough, Lawrence is going to pick them apart and end the national love for Dino's squad
#25 Virginia vs Florida State - 7:30 PM - ACCN
- Virginia enters the top-25, making ND's schedule tougher
- FSU looks just plain bad under Taggert. No visible improvement so far. Do they finally put it together and pull an upset?
TCU @ Purdue - 7:30 PM - BTN
- Rondale Moore
- FNDHCCWL Jeff Brohm
#5 Oklahoma @ UCLA - 8:00 PM - FOX
- Jalen Hurts is just stupid good in Oklahoma's modified offense
- Chip Kelly has been a disaster... this would be a good game for him to pull out the genius that everyone was expecting to see
#22 Boise State vs Portland State - 10:15 PM - ESPN2
- First night-cap option
- Smurf Turf
Texas Tech @ Arizona - 10:30 PM - ESPN
- If this were a perfect world, this would be a wonderful night-cap shootout
- This is NOT a perfect world. Arizona is bad and Kahlil Tate lost his mojo.
