In a previous post the total I believe was 23 max. 21 minimum. We have 15 commits and it appears that the staff wants a QB, a LB, an OL, 1-2 DL and 1-2WR. At most that is 22 with no TE. As we get closer to NSD they will no more as usual but I'll be interested to see where they go with remaining spots.

I sure hope they get Asa Turner or Trisen Sinclair to round out the LB class. '19 has gone from a horn of plenty to... uh-oh.
It's been a great class so far and there's a lot of talent in the clubhouse but I know the staff would like to start all over again at the QB and RB positions... and LB if they don't get one of the two Rovers.
The Cade commitment/decommit didn't help. I'm at a loss on RB but I like Kyren. WR I think they are just being really picky but them waiting on people doesn't help either. Very surprised they lost steam on LB with Henrich. I thought they would have put all their efforts into him. I am also wondering on some guys they haven't offered as well. I know closer to NSD they will try flipping some guys. Not they they "flipped" them all but last year 5 guys were committed to other schools before committing to ND.

Choosing Cade (and Morris) over Mertz lst spring turned out to be a very bad decision.
At RB, they got there man but the way they handled the Brock recruitment was bad. I'm fine with one RB this class. ND's Oline and scheme will make 3* look like AA's. BUT, I'd still sell my soul for lowly 3* Keenan Christon if I were them (maybe selling your soul + ND is bad terminology).
LB... If Turner and Sinclair pass, letting Lytle walk comes back to bite you a bit. There's still a few LB's to like in this class ND could go after and oddly both are Northwestern leans/commits. KJ Wallace's teammate Nick Jackson has NW, Vandy and Duke as his leaders and little known Michael Jansey from the Chicago area is committed to the Wildcats. Like them both a lot.

ND has 15 high quality recruits and 6 months to go before early signing day.
With no glaring holes to fill ND can be very selective how they want to allocate their final 6-8 schollies.
And as NDIrish88 wrote....I fully expect ND to poach a committed 4* or two before it's all said and done.

The lack of a QB remains a fairly glaring hole. Even if we’re just looking for someone to hold a clipboard between Phil and Pyne, it’s important to have one. Hopefully Clark signs on next week. WR, too.
I think the angst comes more from there being so few guys left on the board who you’d say we have a strong shot for, at any position. We’ll essentially be starting over when the dead period ends. That’s not a comfy feeling.
Not so much angst but more hope that they don't waste a scholarship just because they can. I don't want to say C'Bo was a waste because the kid looks good now in camp IMO physically compared to last year, but last year it seemed like a stretch.

There aren't *glaring* holes, but there are holes at basically every skill position. And it's not so much a lack of great committed players as a lack of remaining great players who we're currently favored for.
There's exactly one uncommitted kid ranked higher than #200 with a Notre Dame crystal ball. That's Nick Cross, and 93% of CB's are to Florida State. Ramos probably just forgot to switch. By comparison, I count nine uncommited kids with half or more of their CB's to USC, and seven for Ohio State.
Take Notre Dame's current class rank, add ten, and that's where you can expect us to finish in the rankings without some major coups.

If I'm the source of today's "angst" it's commentary on their individual handling of a few recruitments at QB, RB and LB. Overall, it's all good as I don't think any of those positions suffer because of what has or hasn't happened this cycle.

In terms of holes. I think QB is fine but they need a body. Ideally they can get a Brendon Clark or a late flip candidate. RB is fine in terms of numbers and I’m starting to think that the lack of recruiting for a 2nd RB might mean some good things for CJ Holmes possibly being back July 2nd (no inside info just a hunch). TE is interesting cause the staff is definitely taking a gamble if they do skip the 2019 class altogether. If Mack comes back for his RS SR year then great, but if he leaves when he graduates and then one other guys doesn’t wanna be part of those doubled up classes then they could be in serious trouble. I think this position will be fine though because the guys will want to stay with the amount of TE usage. WR is underrated in the fact that I do think it is a problem. Most people think that 1-2 guys is fine for the class, but I think that ND needs to get back to back good classes of WR’s to start building up a power position in terms of talent. Not having a QB in the class hurts, but the fact that they can’t sell a probably redshirted Phil Jurkovec to them is laughable because that’s one of the most talented QB’s in the country that will be throwing them the ball. I know David Bell is not giving ND the time of day and Kyle Ford is never actually making it to campus, but ND’s offered 24 4-5* WR’s and there’s a distinct possibility that they miss out of every single guy (TJ Sheffield is the best hope and idk if he’s even high on the board). I think missing on some good receivers in the class is an underrated issue on the offensive side of the ball and I hope Del Alexander changes the script on WR recruiting this cycle cause I think he can. Offensive line is totally fine and looks great in this recruiting class for Jeff Quinn.

It's the "it looks like we are done with 6 months to go type posts".
I think we can poach some kids and get highly rated recruits more interested with a good 2018 season.
As everyone know leading in CB's in June, is a far cry from getting the signature in December.
I think at WR we will get guys but they might not be top tier guys. I'd be happy with Cam Hart and Cornelius Johnson. If no Johnson and we get Abur Rahman. That works too. I have list below of guys we could offer or flip if things go south. Crusader please add accordingly.

Also I just noticed that this may be the first year that we do not land a player from Cali or Florida. Cali seems reasonable but Florida looks unlikely.

Sinclair's article was good and went over pretty much every receiver on the board and what the realistic chance for each person is.
Also the reason for the no cali and florida is kind of designated. Brian Kelly and Jack Swarbrick said they wanted to focus more on Georgia then Florida or Private Prep Florida schools. The reason for this is because they want people that fit Notre Dame more.
