I had forgotten to update for Weishar. I also threw Coney back in as returning, because I think he will.

So here is a conservative finish:

85) CB3- Houston Griffith
86) OL3- Luke Jones
85) WR3 - Lawrence Keyes
86) TE2- (Tommy Tremble)
87) Josh Adams

Back out Porter at #70

Make a Medical column because that's where Cage and maybe/probably Elijah Taylor end up.

Ooops, I erased Micah Jones instead of Porter. Fixed it.

I put a parenthetical marking Taylor as a potential medical. I think everyone is assuming Cage is gone.

It's seems like the staff wants two more DB's. If we don't get Gordon for the first signing period, we'll push for Boykin, and maybe even others.

I love the new signing period. It is incredibly helpful for ND, IMO, because it forces kids to show their hand, and emotional decisions work against the school that is farther away and harder.

I'll update the list for Houston!!!

Departures
1) Quenton Nelson -- NFL Draft
2) Jonathan Bonner -- NFL Draft/IT Management

Last year we took 98 and ended up with 83 (15 departures). We have 11 RS SR that are non-guaranteed spots so we can technically go 11 over the 85 mark. So I'd guess we can get to 96-98 which would say 4-6 more spots.

I moved this over from the old thread. This is the one we've been using.

Looking at our depth at OL is scary considering the 18 class commits look like depth players. Yikes!

D Line ...wow would any make third string at Bama Clemson Georgia Ohio st? We do however got some star power coming in with the 18 and 19 class.

Football at the highest level is won or lost in the trenches. We are far from elite!

10 wins and a New Year’s Day bowl again are my hopes, but don’t see playoffs with those lines

I'll bet you that from a recruiting R&R point of view, that's better than half the teams that have ever made the playoffs. Go look at the interior linemen who've been drafted over the past 3 years and most their bio's will look a lot like Ruhland and Gibbons coming out of HS... if that good.

You would know far better than me. It just seems we whiffed this year at OL when we really needed 2 studs and 2 depth. We just got the latter imho.

Love what the roster can potentially look like next year, we should be solid at OL, TE, WR, RB, QB-3 guys battling it out.

Defense-
DL should be solid and deep, LB will depend if coney comes back or not, if he does we should be in great shape, DB we will have tons of depth

We are still in it for NPF, and I think Dirksen is a little underrated. Plus, we are in great position for Carroll and Olmsted in 19.

Obviously, but the 2018 class will have nothing to do with that.

True.

Well hopefully NPF comes in and Dirksen max's out his potential and they contribute strongly in 2020-21.

Q and McG came in 4 and 5 years ago and it took them that many seasons to become truly dominant, so the O-line probably can't be counting on its Soph's and Jr's to be dominant yet.

it's good that Bars and Mustipher are back to help stabilize the line. I really would hate to see a line of......

Eichenberg Kraemer Hainsey Banks Lugg

jump right into the deep end next season against a very strong Michigan D-line.

Dude, we stopped LSU on the one yard line twice yesterday and held one of the best running backs in college football in check. Our defensive front won that game and, aside from Trumbetti I think, all the linemen are back. I agree we’re not Bama, but these aren’t the old days there anymore.

As for individuals, Tillery and MTA would contribute just about anywhere, IMO. Khalid Kareem flipped from Bama to us so yeah. Daelin Hayes was highly recruited as a pass rusher, even if we haven’t seen it. Okwara’s a ballplayer. Jay Hayes came on this year. With the guys coming in I’d say D Line has actually become a position of strength for us.

And I, for one, worry not a bit about the offensive line. We’ve graduated plenty of first round draft picks under Heistand. There’s always another. Would like to get NPF tho.

Missing Jonathan Bonner.

Also Jamie Jones will be a junior, he is listed as a freshman.

I think Bonner said he was likely hanging it up, not coming back for a fifth year.

Te’von Coney back for his senior year
Defensive coordinator Clark Lea won’t need to develop the next Te’von Coney just yet. That’s because the original breakout linebacker will be back for the Irish next year.
Pete Sampson - 6 minutes ago

Te'von Coney's breakout season will have an encore in South Bend.

On the final day underclassmen could declare for the NFL Draft, the junior linebacker stayed out of that pool, giving his Notre Dame career a fourth and final season. Now Coney can build on a year that took him from rotational player to arguably Notre Dame’s top linebacker.
