Huge second half from Ian Book and the three wideouts and another terrific outing from the defense.

Special teams were terrible again. Kick coverage has been absolute garbage all year.

The OL has not been able to get any push at all on the ground in the majority of games this year, even with Bars, and that's a big concern for our playoff hopes. Gotta improve big time over these last five games.

Do yourselves a favor and stay off Twitter or sports talk radio for a week. The haters are going to come out of the woodwork.

Two quick thoughts:

1. ND now has a tell. Dexter is the main back and when Jones comes in it’s for pass protection. I think jones only had one or two carries.

2. The pass rush on the last Pitt play was awesome and sealed the game. They only brought 3 against what looked like at least 5 or 6 and forced the throw.

Nah. Jones was coming off an injury. I'll bet a bunch it's much more balanced come Navy when he's 100. And Jafar back shortly too. Lots of options. I'd bet something like Dex 35%, Jones 25, Jafar 20, and others 20%

Pregame prediction:

ND wins but doesn't cover in a grind it out game similar in feel to Ball State and some here panic while national media trolls latch to "ND hasn't beaten anyone and the creampuffs they did they barely beat" narrative... on to the bye and Navy.

Do yourselves a favor and stay off Twitter or sports talk radio for a week. The haters are going to come out of the woodwork.

So,... nailed it?

10 wins including the bowl game. I'm usually pretty bullish on the team coming into the year.

I think I was at 10 not including the bowl.
I never include the bowl game. How do you predict when you don't know who it will be lol.

Still afraid of USC

-will take the win and move forward
-hopefully break allows for some healing and rest, and prep for the final grind
-dismayed with how Pitt dominated OL
-Book overcame things to win
-ST still a concern
-7&0, let's go Irish

Elite teams know how to grind it out and Win games like these. I know that Is what the pundits should say. They have for everyone else all year long.

These games are incredibly frustrating, but survive and advance. Tough week for the team, a lot of stress and it showed. But they found enough to win, so I'll take it.
College football is so damn unpredictable. Week to week and year to year. I love this sport.
Bye week is coming at a perfect time.

I know everyone is disgruntled about specific aspects of the performance today, but gutting up, finding a way to come from behind, and win a tough trap game more than compensates for those things. A struggle win that boosts confidence and proves you can overcome adversity is better than having to work your way back up the ladder after a tough loss.

I already posted this, but...

And fellas, let's not forget..
In 2017, Pitt beat #2 Miami late in the year
In 2016, Pitt beat #2 Clemson late in the year

They did not beat the Irish.
Clean your shorts, grab a beer, put some deodorant on, kiss your love ones, grab another beer, and then,,, chill

Sorry, man. Didn't realize you and the wifey were into that. Cool.
Yes, of course you get credit then!

Don’t get mad that you’re Bridges of Madison County vibes infiltrated the team today.... we survived, let it go.

I’m keeping this positive.

It was fun in the 4th quarter.

I was at the game.

The crowd was fun in the 4th quarter.

We won.

7-0.

Georgia is losing to a LSU team that lost to a Florida team that almost lost to a Vanderbilt that we beat.

College football is weird.

Winning is always good.

Fun.

I don't put that much thought into it lol. In my heart every year is "12-0" onto the playoffs. Well at least since like 2013 anyway.

Much like 2012, don’t care how it looked.
We win.
Move on.
We will not remember this game in December.

GO IRISH!!!!!

The crowd was okay, but not really invested in being the 6th man to start the game. It was more like we were spectators expecting a blowout. Those turnovers also killed crowd momentum. When it became clear near the end of the 3rd that the defense was going to need that extra boost, it got really loud.

Little sad to see Mercy not post his enlightening thoughts here. Must have shot his wad in the game thread.

It was a frustrating game but at least the QB and wide receivers are still linking up well. The receivers would all feel pretty good about the day. I think these frustrating days are a lot worse when it is because the receivers cant get in the game.

They need to hand out red bull and vodkas before every game...
