So, I believe Alabama will be in and the Irish will be in the Citrus.

I think there's a bit of difference between not winning a conference because you're not in a conference, and not winning a conference because SOMEONE ELSE DID. The latter suggests you're not the best team in your conference.

Also, we beat the Pac-12 Champ. Handily. Also the runners up in the Pac 12 and ACC (assuming we're in the playoff discussion, instead of crapping the bed in January). And barely lost to the SEC champ.

A one-loss ND this year doesn't suffer for being independent.

I am torn with Bama.. I have watched 4 of their games this year and they don't look like a classic Bama, but they also destroyed everyone except Auburn and Miss St, so I still feel they are one of the top 4 teams even if past years are playing a bias in that

ND remains independent unless Texas ruins the the current set-up and forces super-conferences.

I never researched what the committee's criteria was. Do you have something other than what I found below?

I think they should definitely mean something and the P5 conference champs should all get in in spirit every year, but if there happens to be a year when the Pac12 champ has 3 losses they shouldn't get in just because they won the conference.
