Hey All!

I have been MIA for a long time. As some of you know, I have been in the process of (A) retiring and (B) relocating from Southern California to the Nashville area. It has been a dream come true for my wife and I to be able to retire and move to Nashville and we are loving it.

It is quite a change, but we are having a blast. IrishinTN really gave me a ton of advice and helped with the transition a lot. I owe him more than a few cold ones!

Took about three and a half weeks to get our internet hooked up and I just don't like to do much on my stupid phone, so I have been out of contact for a long time. Now that we are getting more and more settled (and I have A LOT of free time on my hands these days) I will be back a lot more.

Thanks to everyone that sent well wishes through the whole transition and IrishinTN, your beers are forthcoming very soon!!!

Cheers!

Welcome to Nash-Vegas!!! You will love it here. We moved to the out-skirts (Dickson) to have more property. I wouldn't live anywhere else! Just got to get used to the SEC idiots. The oddity is the SEC idiots in TN are not Vols fans!

Anyway, hope you find your new city as wonderful as I do.

Go Irish!!!

Thanks! Yeah, we are on the outskirts too in Hendersonville. We are in the very Northwest corner of H-ville. We are absolutely in love with the area. It is such a good change from Southern California both the scenery and the people. We couldn't be happier.

So true about the SEC fans. Very few Vols fans, but a lot of Bama fans. There are several "Bama Bound" signs here in our neighborhood.

Thanks again for the well wishes!

I was there yesterday. 8th and Woodland. Watching the fireworks. Grew up down there. Went to the high school that the Irish practiced at for the MCB. It was not at that location, however.

If you buy a boat and get on Old Hickory, try and find a Topo map of the lake. It can get real shallow, real quick where you wouldn't think it would be - and it is full of stumps in some places. You picked a great area. We wanted more country and Dickson is growing. We live in a secluded 15 home subdivision in the middle of no-where. Was in Nashville City limits for years and loved it. But Kids are gone (1 more at 16 to get rid of !!!) and we stumbled across this during the 2008 recession and couldn't pass on it.

Diz, is that sand bar still straight out from Shutes Lane ramp? In the middle of what appears to be the channel? It used to be about 2 foot deep there at summer pool. I haven't been on Old Hickory in years, so I am not sure. I know it could be quite treacherous back years ago.

About 1/2 miles north of the ramp towards Metabo. It's still a bear for boaters. I only fish it twice a year for a couple of charity tournaments. I will NOT pleasure boat Old Hickory or Percy Priest.

The first house on the right after the 109 bridge, headed east, is Reba McEntire's House. Numerous Titans still live on Old Hickory in Henderson and Gallatin. He will have good company.

Well, we ended up keeping our Kings tickets at Staples. We will be home for a couple games and I will sell the rest. As luck has it, the Kings play in Nashville twice this year, so I have already budgeted for decent seats to both games.

As for the Mexican food, there are a couple decent places we have found already. Not the best, but no bad either. My wife is really good at cooking Mexican food and I have a few items I am pretty good at so I think we will be able to scratch the itch when we need to.

I love to fish and so does my wife. I wouldn't call myself a "fisherman" because I don't have a lot of knowledge about the sport, but I definitely love to do it. Hunting is definitely the same thing, but I have only been hunting a couple times. Would love to go more though.

I live in rural TN, plenty of places to hunt and fish. Between myself and my father-in-law, we have several good spots. You would be welcome to come up and try for a deer or turkey sometime. Most of them already have stands or blinds in them.

Agreed. Dale Hollow is the best lake I have found for pleasure boating. Almost no debris, plenty of depth, and clean water. Center Hill is nice as well.

DH is the best lake in TN for joy boaters. Nickajack is not too bad and only an 1 1/2 hours from me so I go there.

GO IRISH if you want to go to the TN or Cumberland to Bass fish, let me know. Or, if you go and need some spots, I will give you a couple...... couple ;)

My friend who used to let me hunt hasnt called in a while, so if you luck into some good hunting ground, let me know. And i'm ready for those beers any time.

GOIRISH is as good as a dude as you'll ever meet. You'll enjoy getting to know him.

GoIrish, looking forward to seeing you again my friend. The Blackhawks camp will be in town the weekend of one of the home football games for the first time, and of course there will be ND hockey games as well during some home games. When I first moved to South Bend, we went 12-0 and went to the natty (the horific loss to Bama happened in 2013 so that wasn't on me). Hoping you can bring the same luck!!!

I just recently moved to Clarksville, Tennessee for work and that's about 45 minutes north of Nashville. Welcome to the area!

Thanks for the offer. I might hit you up on the hunting, especially the turkey. I have always wanted to go turkey hunting. As long as you don't mind taking a noob on a hunt. I am not a noob with guns, just with the hunting part.
