I was giving Brey the benefit of the doubt for his sub par coaching this year because of injuries. But, healthy or not, they're just bad at basketball.

You posted a couple weeks ago about how this season was Brey's worst coaching job in years. Benefit of the doubt?

I agree it means nothing. VT is the game we have to impress people with.

Also we shot 16% in 2nd half. Probably the worst shooting half that I can remember. Hopefully they got it out of their syatems

This game really means nothing. It's all about VT.

This. We looked like crap and it's not what anyone wanted to see.....but, in the grand scheme of things this shouldn't impact whether we make the tourney or not. Win or lose tomorrow, this Pitt game will be forgotten about.

Not that this matters, but according to the ESPN play by play, Marcus Carr committed his 5th foul with 22 seconds left and the score 63 - 61. He somehow stayed in game after that?

Is this a mistake on ESPNs part? Or did the ACC refs actually let him continue playing with 5 fouls?

Apparently there was confusion but I thought he had 5 but idk what happend. The scores table gave us an extra pt at one pt so idk what they were doing today

You're right. But when when Colson came back, I started to think to myself that maybe they could turn things around in a hurry and Brey could lead them to another NCAA run. This game killed all my confidence in them doing that.

BGIF where are you? (Car 54 where are you?)

I wasn't able to find an outlet (I don't have cable in any package form) and missed his running commentary/reporting.

Am I correct in assuming, by the tenor of the posts, that we lost?

Our offensive flow has been stinking it up for quite a while. TJ and Matt are not doing a good job creating and making others around them better. TJ disappears for huge stretches. I don't get the lack of Mooney - kid is fighting out there, 9 boards today, and has to be respected from three.

I give Pitt some credit for taking their week off before the ACC tourney to regroup and put in a good effort. They did not look like an 0-18 team or anything like the team we spanked last week. I'm not sure if they did a good job denying Bonz the ball or if we did a bad job with movement to create space and opportunity. This iso offense stuff isn't going to work though.

They were being very physical with Bonzie in denying the ball or pushing him out as he was receiving the ball.

Pitt was very physical - second half especially they were all over Bonz. Only six boards for Bonzie is damn near unprecedented for a full game. They were hyper aggressive boxing him out and keeping him out of the paint.

Dan Dakich is a fvcking moron, btw. 3-4 times in first half referred to Bonzi Wells - how that guy survived the downsizing is a small miracle.

Tourney game, and Pitt played their last game of the season. I don't think it means anything outside of that. Wish some of the guys would have got more rest. Was hoping Bonzie and Farrell would stay under 30 min.

Survive and advance..... Take care of business tomorrow and the hopes are still alive. A lot of folks are saying we're likely in with another win, but I think we'll need a little help and a strong showing vs Duke.

Teams to cheer against:
Louisville
Syracuse (tonight)
Baylor
OK
OK St
TX
Baylor
Marquette
ASU
USC
UCLA
Washington
Bama
LSU
MissSt
St Bon

Lunardi says we don’t have to beat duke to get in

His first four out are: Louisville. Marq. Ok st then ND

Howie Schwab has them in the same place (4th in first four out).

There's still a lot that can happen with other teams so I'm not going to count any chickens just yet. A poor showing vs Duke is the last thing we want on the committee's mind. I agree a win over VT and close game vs Duke could very well be enough, but several teams are thinking the same thing we are right now.

Just win!

Exactly right just win! Biggest game of year is tomorrow.

Also can someone explain to me why djogo is playing so much? He hasn’t scored in like a month. Is he a really good defender? It seemed like geben didn’t play the last 10 mins

Mooney had 9 rebs today in very limited time. I know Mooney comes in for bonzie but why not play both.

Djogo has actually been playing hard. It seems like his defense and rebounding have improved a lot recently.

My favorite thing about this is loomis predicted a close game and was still wrong.

Props on the +16.5 bet though.

1 point off. If that's wrong...I don't wanna be right.

That's right as rain when it comes to sports betting.

No rest for our starters either.

Cuse took care of business over Wake by 10ish which sucks.
Zags up by 8ish over BYU. Last thing we want is BYU stealing a bid as Zags will get in regardless and St. Mary's should be in as well.

Depending on the team, you might see both (Mooney and Bonzie). As far as who is playing, Mooney and Djogo were the only ones off the bench to play..... With DJ gone, not a lot of proven depth.

Just looked and geben only played 23mins? What the hell is that about...

He looked good today in that limited action. Maybe they wanted the big fella to preserve something for tomorrow. I though the team played OK today. They played good defense and they hustled after loose balls. They just couldn't get anything to drop the second half. This is an easy win if the Irish shoot 30% the second half. Glad they could get that out of their system vs a team like Pitt. I see this being a wakeup call for the team. Irish win tomorrow!!!

FTl shooting was great and is what won the game IMO....
but FG/3pt were OUCH.....

We'll have to do better than that tomorrow. Hoping VT is NOT shooting lights out from the 3.

Zags pounded BYU by 20. That should squash any hopes.
Would be nice to see St. Mary's drop off the radar but I doubt it.
