It's not just Bonzie though, as I said the starting the 5. Against PITT just a week or so ago ND won by nearly 20 and had control the entire 2nd half. Yet, Gibbs & Farrell both played 37 minutes and Rex played 31. They simply cannot do that again. To me, this is a perfect time to get a lead early, and make sure Burns, Torres, Mooney, Djogo each play 15 minutes. Keep the starting guards to under 30 minutes with a solid rotation.

I agree, it would seem like a good night for Djogo to launch a bunch of 3's and see if he can bump his 3 pt FG % up to 26%

Mandel at The Athletic has us as the 5th team out. Lunardi as the 4th. Bracketville (most accurate supposedly) as the 6th team out.

Pretty much no one has us in the field currently, but the general consensus seems to be that we need to jump 4-6 teams to get in.

Do we know which teams are those 4-6? I'd like to actively cheer against them in conference tournaments.

Not just the teams listed below, but need no major upsets in mid-major tourneys that could "steal" a bid.

Baylor
Washington
USC
Okie State
Lville
Marquette
USC
UCLA
Texas
Bama

just to name a few

Since it's always referenced during games, here is Lunardi's:

Last Four Byes: Kansas State, Providence, Arizona State, Baylor
Last Four In: Texas, USC, UCLA, Alabama
First Four Out: Louisville, Marquette, Oklahoma State, Notre Dame
Next Four Out: Syracuse, Penn State, Boise State, Nebraska

Going by other predictions, other teams to root against who are further down behind us on the bubble are: Washington, Utah, Mississippi State, LSU, Oregon

I would tend to agree, as long as Bonzie continues to impress. With the way he played over the last 2 games, he definitely has peoples attention and the momentum is building.

If we win the next two games (even if one of them is against lowly Pitt) and Bonzie continues to ball out, then we are in unless we get destroyed by Duke. There are far too many analysts talking about how we are a top 25 team with Bonzie and that VT got a crappy bracket because they have to play ND, etc etc. We beat Pitt and VT, the momentum will continue to build.

I agree we are defiantly a top 25 team when bonzie is on the floor. We should be in the tournament and no one is going to want to play us.

I don’t think beating pitt by a ton would do anything. Beating VT by a ton would be a different story

The public sentiment is in our favor. It seems as though if we were put in the tournament, no one would question why, even with our resume.

Even though it’s Pittsburgh, it is an extra game to showcase our team. We have to hope that many of the other teams lose their first or second game. I know Marquette plays DePaul in the first round, but as long as they lose their second game, we should jump them. Seems like everyone else has a potential tough first game.

Edit - this is all predicated on us beating Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech

Hopefully he will only be playing half the game again.

Ya I agree with this. We’ve been saying it a lot the past couple days that we would all like to see him play like 20-25mins and get some rest for VT game but if he wants to keep playing do you think brey would keep playing him or just tell him no get ready and scar energy for a big game against VT?

We need to send a message to the committee. A 4–10 point win sends the message we don’t belong.

If Bonzie, and others are rested for a good portion of the game, I don't think it matters. The committee will see that. And I hope they are rested given we'll be playing a bye and double bye team. Even with resting the guys, we should handle Pitt by 10 IMO.

I'd rather have a 1 point win vs Pitt, a win over VT, and a good showing vs Duke than VT or Duke killing a worn out ND in the 2nd half.

I agree with wanting our team rested. I disagree about the point spread not being important. Pitt is 8-23 and 0-18 in the conference. They only had three conference games where they lost by less than 12 points. We need to dominate this game.

Unless the Irish struggle and it's a 2-3 point win, I don't think the committee will care.

If they control the games and beat V tech and Pitt, play close with Duke, they will be in, IMO... Every expert is saying ND is a top 15 team when healthy.. They wouldn't go out and say this especially Joe Lunardi if they weren't hearing this from the committee

If this is the case, where would they seed the Irish in the NCAA tourney? Would they be in an 8/9 or 7/10 game? Maybe one of the first 4 matchups? I can't see them getting seeded any better than 7 IF they make it.

We need Gonzaga to beat BYU tonight in WCC Final or else the bubble will shrink by one spot.

Bit of a Catch-22 with Pitt - if we aren't beating them by double digits, we aren't resting our starters.

Pissed my Roku at work is not able to sign in to ESPN - spent 100 minutes on the phone this morning and still f-ed up. I may watch Pitt on my phone but I'm not doing that tomorrow.

Ya if they were to make it it would be a 10/11 seed and as the 11 seed it would probably be the playin game

That’s assuming we only beat Pitt and Vt and duke close. We beat duke then idk what our seeding would be
