Ya hes a beast and him and hubbs together would be leatheal. They can both play PG and SG. Hubbs will be primary PG but they could easily switch. So if we get Luther then we will have Luther, hubbs, Harvey and Durham. Thats a great start

Durham is a big time get - not only for 2018 but to practice with the team in 2017. Exactly the type of big they need and hopefully the year off will do him well to acclimate, grow into his body and stay healthy. Kid sounds like he is ready to work and get coached up.

Brey is putting a monster roster together - really interesting to see what he does with the rest of those open scholarships. Be nice to get another rangy tall one.

Beachem signed with the T-Wolves.

Good for VJ

Carmody, Gibbs, Durham..... Brey shopping from a different aisle for sure this cycle. Good to see them cashing in on the successful run to kick it up a notch.

Per ISD, Gibbs is down 17 pounds. Is that good or bad? Lmao. He looked good physically last year. I didn't think he needed to lose almost 20 pounds

I don't necessarily think Gibbs needed to lose the weight but I believe it will be a good thing in the long run. Brey likes his guards scrappy and Gibbs looked a little slow at times. Anyone want to chime in on what Brey's thoughts were?

I was thinking about this yearns hoops team and thinking how they should be a really good team. But I could only think of 4 players that are pretty much guaranteed starters: Farrell, Colson, Pflueger, and Geben. And even then, I wouldn't be surprised if someone like Mooney surpassed Geben.

So who is the other starter? Does Gibbs play the 2 and rotate to PG when Matty needs a breather? Does Djogo surprise in camp and be the 6'7" shooter that Brey loves? Or does the freshman Harvey start right away?

Brey definitely has some options. I'd really like to see Harvey start as a freshman at the 3. But I think he might start Gibbs at the 2 which isn't bad either.

Tom Noie had a chat yesterday and had some good things to say about how Gibbs looked during the summer practices and pickup games. He said he looks like a different guy after losing 17 pounds. More aggressive. Athletic. Attacking.

I thought Gibbs looked pretty thick for a basketball player last year. I could see the change pay off nicely. I think Mooney and Djogo will be pleasant surprises this year giving Harvey time to grow into his roll. Pretty good 7 man rotation there (Bonzi, Farrell, Rex, Gibbs + Djogo, Mooney, Harvey) with Burns, Geben and Torres providing some beef in spurts. Those last three do not threaten from outside the paint and we know how much Brey likes to spread the defense out. That is why I think the rotation will be primarily 7 man with a minimal minutes for the other three - especially in crunch time.

Mooney also slimmed down from 13% to 8% body fat (good article linked below).

Chaminade has it made with the tournament really. Any time they win, it's a big boost for the school. They get, what, 3-4 games on TV as a DII school? And this tournament pays for their mainland recruiting each season. What a win.

The complete men's basketball schedule was released yesterday. I can't believe no one had posted it on here yet. Apparently all of you are too busy talking about the football game this weekend and have failed to realize that we are a basketball school now!!

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Notre Dame’s basketball scheduled came out today. Here’s the rundown. <a href="https://t.co/ysNOP1TBgV">pic.twitter.com/ysNOP1TBgV</a></p>— Irish Illustrated (@PeteSampson_) <a href="https://twitter.com/PeteSampson_/status/905900233909039104">September 7, 2017</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I think this squad has a legit chance of going 14-4 (or better) in ACC play, assuming nothing unforeseen occurs. Louisville, @ Duke, @ North Carolina, @ Virginia are games I think Notre Dame could lose, but I wouldn't be surprised if they went 2-2 in those games.

We'll be tested early with MSU. First time playing arguably the best player in CBB. Don't think anyone can beat us if we are hitting our 3s (going far out on a limb with that one, italics)

In-depth article on Elijah Burns and his journey to being the likely 6th man this year.

https://www.ndinsider.com/basketball/mens/notre-dame-junior-pf-elijah-burns-takes-different-path-to/article_ea0c857c-b833-11e7-8a6b-fbb85b1f0d99.html

Just a little blurb of the article to emphasize how surprising Brey's announcement at the media day was concerning Burns being the 6th man.

Basketball media days seldom steal any headlines. Everybody is eager to get started, excited for the journey, anxious to see what the next six months have in store. Trotted out are the standard responses of just wanting to get better every day and blah, blah, blah.

Irish coach Mike Brey raised a few eyebrows during his 25-minute session late last week when he revealed that Burns had done enough barely 11 practices into this season to be considered the team’s sixth man. Aside from Colson, who seemingly gets every ball that bounces off the rim, no Irish had more rebounds through the first 11 practices than the 6-foot-8, 238-pound Burns.

Mike Brey and his squad open up their season on the road against DePaul at 4:00 EST. You can catch it on FS1. I believe this is the first time they've started the season with a true road game since 1999.

I have pretty high expectations for this team this season. I love what we have for our guards and not much needs to be said about Bonzie. I think Rex can and will have a bigger impact on offense; if he can average 10-11 points a game this year, that would be awesome. I'm excited to see what we have in Burns, Mooney, and Niko; all three have had plenty of time in Brey's system, they should be ready to contribute. If Burns and Mooney can give Brey meaningful minutes this season, that'll make this team even more dangerous. Hopefully, Niko can give Brey that 6'7" SG that we might not have this year since Vasturia is gone.

I predict this team will have at least 25 wins overall and at least 14 conference wins.

They could be playing a pretty tough OOC schedule with MSU, Michigan/LSU, and potentially Wichita St.

I couldn’t agree more. Can’t wait to see Harvey too and see how much time he is gonna get. This team is gonna win a lot. A couple ESPN guys choosing us to get to final four so very high expectations and as we know for us when we have high expectations it doesn’t seem to work out but i think this team is different and they have a different toughness about them that they don’t wanna lose and they are gonna give everything. Their gritty.

So excited for the season to start.

Letssssss goooooo!
