Returning starters:
Mike McGlinchey - played well and will lock down one tackle spot

Quenton Nelson - played well and will likely stay at left guard

Players likely to compete for a starting spot:
Hunter Bivin - not much info but it seems like he's one of the favorites to lock down the other tackle position oppose big mike.

Alex Bars - I assume he's a favorite to land the guard spot opposite Q based on the staff's decision to start him when Q was injured last year (of course that can change given the development of others)

Sam Mustipher - Martin's back up last year at center and will compete with Hoge for the job in 2016

Tristen Hoge - highly ranked recruit who will likely compete with Mustipher for the spot at center.

Colin McGovern - maybe a dark horse to take one of the spots. He's got a few years in the program and looked good when he got some tick last year

The unknown:
Trevor Ruhland - seems like a tough kid and could be the player to watch out of this group if he can gain some good weight

Jimmy Byrne - probably still needs time to develop

John Montelus - not much chatter about him being a likely candidate to replace anyone

The freshman:
Tommy Kraemer - he's too big and talented to dismiss as a serious option but I doubt he'll be able to earn a spot as a starter (but I wouldn't be surprised if he cracks the two deep)

Liam Eichenberg - probably needs some time in the system before he competes for a spot

Parker Boudreaux - same as above

Losing three starters is never good for your offensive line but the open competition for these spots is going to make all the contenders tougher and better.

I would be shocked if Bars didn't take one spot. He was the first guy off the bench when Q went down and he played well. He's young and it's fair to assume he'll only get better.

The last two spots gets tricky, IMO. If Bars is good enough to earn either the guard or tackle spot, it's going to be a great competition between Bivin, Mustipher and Hoge for the last two spots that could lead to the following combinations:
MM - Q - Hoge - Bars - Bivin
MM - Q - Mustipher - Bars - Bivin
MM - Q - Mustipher - Hoge - Bars
MM - Q - Hoge - Mustipher - Bars

Competition is always good and it should be a fun spring and fall camp with these guys.

Idk why, but I gotta hunch that Ruhland is going to be a Nick Martin type before it's all said and done.

He's the nastiest blocker I've seen for HS film. Then again I don't watch much film.

I don't like switching a kid back and forth between guard and tackle. If Bars is going to be a tackle eventually, I say they put him there and let him focus on learning the one position well. Hopefully he is healthy.

Some lineman can move positions with relative ease. If you have the luxury of coaching these types of lineman, I think it's in the best interest of the unit to move players around to get the best five on the field.

Unless he grows a couple inches and loses some baby fat I'm not sure he's ready. He could be a good player for us down the line but not sure if he is ever a starter, we are just bringing in too much talent on the O line. You have to remember he wasn't a take for everyone on the staff

So excited to watch McGlinchey next year. Think he's gonna work himself into top 10 pick territory.

Boys, boys, I think there's no question that whoever starts for us will be good. The question isn't whether any of them will be drafted, but how many go day 1?

I say Da Bears trade up for the first 5 picks in the draft. Can never have enough linemen.

TIFWIW, Wiltfong think the loser of the Musipher/Hoge battle will start at right guard

If I may shift gears for a moment, gentlemen...Mike McGlinchey vs. a Hurricane, who would win?

Hold on, hold on! The name of the Hurricane is Hurricane McGlinchey.
