I get that he publicly criticized the staff but if he was sure that he would be transferring after this season why would the staff even keep him on the roster? Why is he still on campus? To me, it's just a kid that might be a bit homesick, frustrated at a lack of playing time, and he does what quite a few other kids would do - acts like a kid. I'm not ready to write him off yet. I can remember a couple of ND players that had similar problems that stuck it out - Louis Nix being the first one that comes to mind.

I'm not ready to write him off either, but we can be 90% sure that somebody will transfer after this season. It happens every year, can't be avoided. At this point, Hayes is clearly the most likely transfer candidate, so for the purposes of figuring out how many spots we will have left for this signing class, I'm counting him as a transfer. I'm essentially just using him as a placeholder for "somebody will transfer" because he's the most likely.

Lucky and Panda...

Currently, Wiltfong has the following CB's out:

Johnathan Jones
Aaron Hansford
Ikenna Okeke
Devon Studstill
Donte Vaughn
Melquise Stovall
Damian Alloway
Demetris Robertson

Javon McKinnley - went cloudy and for good reason from what I've heard

Daelin Hayes - never changed from SC

Khalid Kareem - went cloudy from Bama. (I haven't followed his recruitment)

Carlo Kemp - michigan but some think ND is in great shape (haven't followed this either)

What's up? Where do we stand? They aren't all possible, right?

I agree with what you said in the Kareem thread Lucky, I don't look at Wiltfong's CB's the same way I used to.

The bolded above they say confidence is wavering.

A wide lead for UM at this point for Kemp but we can make a push if we want to.

They think we flip Kentucky Davonte Robinson (OV for USC) and Khalid Kareem.

I guess my reason for posting what I did before is seems like this hype surrounding Kareem is similar hype that Irish247 created for Hayes, Hunter Johnson, Hamlin at one point, and McKinley as well. I think they're focused too much on getting the flashy quote or the quickest story versus maybe the right one. JMO

Maybe ISD Intel will have scoop on these Kalim rumors. I 100% believe there's no chance given he's a DE and committed to Bama, but I do love being wrong in these cases.

If they flip Robinson, who do you think is out (if any) from Vaughn, Studstill, Okeke?

Where are you on the possiblity they don't land either Alloway or Stovall? Maybe? Likely?

If the flip occurs okeke is out and others were higher on board from gug....stovall is most likely not coming if dead set on being an EE...has some gpa work to bump up..but if he decides to maintain the course he Will be Irish...alloway complete crap shoot

1. Vaughn commits Monday so Robinson won't have anything to do with his recruitment, maybe the other way around. Vaughn surprises and picks UT, then Robinson is a take no matter what. Still sounds like Studstill is a take until the end just like Hamlin and Fuller. So if those are my choices I'd say Okeke. With that said I think, as of now, Morgan already took Okeke's spot.

2. Really unsure at this point. Sounds like there some fairly big hurdles for both. Alloway is distance and Stovall is distance and wanting to EE, which he probably won't be able to at ND.

Thanks guys. I guess next Monday some of the questions will be answered. Of course that just makes for different questions on Tuesday.

FWIW, Irish247 said that the staff thinks Robinson is a "stud" so maybe he's a take no matter what. For those that haven't watch his Junior and Senior film, the kid can straight fly. Speed Kills!

I agree, his tape looks better than his ratings but even the best teams they play are 3 TD dogs to the Cincy and Indy teams.

All I really care about is Vaughn and his 6-3 frame. If he can stick at CB... great, if not I like a 6-3 FS even better. The staff will fill in the 5-10 to 6-0 CB's to go with Love. Overall, Hamlin is probably on top of the list because of ratings combined with he's at Pittsburgh Central Catholic, would like to be a top 3 destination for PA kids like the old days and David Adams is in the pipeline for next year.)

But I would give it all up for David Long. Hopefully he figures out he can't get a bachelors in business at Stanford. Plus, I'm on record that the Irish were getting 2 DB's from SoCal this year.

Kelly and the staff recently really seem to value athleticism more of than anything else when they recruits Cornerbacks. Seems to think that if you have the athleticism you can teach the technique.

Only thing I don't like about that is it limits the chance for us to bring in guys that can make an impact right away.

I'm sure if we had an elite CB actually interested in coming here, we would be welcome him with open arms.

KVR did. He was a Freshman AA. Not saying its likely to happen that way, most certianly isn't, but its not like this kid has no experience playing CB. He's been playing both ways for at least two years now.

IDK where to put this, but Evan Sharpley just tweeted 5 Shamrocks. I'm guessing it means we got our 5th 2017 commit?

I know the numbers always seem to work themselves out, but have a feeling this might be a year where we regret taking 2 or 3 early commitments from kids who probably wouldnt be at the top of the list with legitimate interest right now....

That news has already arrived

Did Loy post that good news was coming before or after the Hayes decommitment? If it was before then that had to be what he was referring to. I can't see a new commitment happening this late on a Sunday night.
