I feel so out of the loop early on this year and am curious to hear who some of you think that we should expect to see in the class or at least some names to keep a close eye on? The second half of the season along with Harbaugh being hired and Urbie getting it done has really turned the tide imo. I still think we will have a great class, but with staff changes and a late start we have yet another set back on the trail as names I thought were shoe-ins are no longer the case. Thanks for any insights on this.

A guy to keep your eye on for a WDE is Cameron Brown out of Potomac, MD. He is a 6-6 210lb OLB right now but projects as a DE at the next level and already has a ND offer. He could be another Bo Wallace prospect. 4 star kid on rivals.
Cameron Brown Highlights

I don't care what position; the staff better go all out for this kid. He is the biggest, strongest, fastest, with the nastiest attitude!

Man I hate to nitpick but he's definitely not the strongest or biggest DE prospect we're going after. Rivals profile says 6'6 210, which you can easily tell from watching his film that he's not, 247 profile says 6'4 200. In terms of height, mass or perceived strength there are plenty of DE's we're going after that would be a head of Brown.

With that said I think he's a terrific prospect as an edge rusher.

Kind of reminds me of another runningback, one from the past : Autry Denson.

(I just wanted to be one of the first to do that!)

Notre Dame is expected to announce four new coaches on Monday — Mike Sanford, Keith Gilmore, Autry Denson and Todd Lyght. In addition to those four, Maurice Crum has joined the staff as a graduate assistant helping defensive backs.

Over the past few days, all of these coaches (with the exception of Lyght) have hit Twitter to follow some of their top targets across the country.

Sanford, who is expected to be named Notre Dame's new offensive coordinator, started following some of his top targets at the quarterback position.

Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic four-star quarterback Jarrett Guarantano
Columbus (Ga.) Carver five-star quarterback Jawon Pass
Potomac (Md.) The Bullis School four-star quarterback Dwayne Haskins

Gilmore, who is expected to be named Notre Dame's new defensive line coach, started following a few players he plans on recruiting including a top target committed elsewhere.

West Bloomfield (Mich.) Skyline four-star linebacker and USC commit Daelin Hayes
Saint Louis (Mo.) Chaminade College Prep three-star cornerback Roderick Campbell
Kansas City (Mo.) Rockhurst four-star defensive back A.J. Taylor
Lees Summit (Mo.) West defensive end Marcel Minniefield
Traverse City (Mich.) West three-star offensive guard Thiyo Lukusa
Wichita (Kan.) East four-star defensive end and Kansas State commit Xavier Kelly

Denson, who is expected to be named Notre Dame's new running back coach, started following a few targets including the No. 1 player on his board from Georgia.

Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy four-star running back Elijah Holyfield
Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) three-star defensive back Devin Studstill
Elfenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove four-star defensive tackle Antwuan Jackson
Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas five-star defensive end Nick Bosa
Pompano Beach (Fla.) Coconut Creek four-star cornerback Trayvon Mullen

Crum, who is the new defensive graduate assistant, followed two targets including one that is likely waiting for an offer to commit to the Irish.

La Grange Park (Ill.) Nazareth Academy three-star cornerback Julian Love
Westwood (N.J.) Old Tappan four-star WR/DB Jordan Fuller

Is it just me or does it seem like the new staff is putting in a lot more work on recruiting for guys to get on campus and extending offers than in years past? I like what I'm seeing so far.

Love his speed. I see more of an OLB because he's not a pure pass rusher, but he's one heck of an athlete.

Needs his thread, kid has more strength than I have seen for a long time (to go with speed). A fairly small motion and his opponent is on his a$$!

Grubl, in years past, the staff just waited for you to tweet them all about ND and open the flood gates.........

A new name to keep an eye on is Libertyville, Ill DE Ben Kimpler. Has been in contact with Denbrock and has an open invitation to visit for a spring practice or Junior Day. He's 6'6 215ish. More than likely a down the list type of guy since we're getting so many of our top targets at DE to campus early but really nice frame and would be a solid depth guy, IMO.

Lyght eyeing 3-star Fla. ATH

Andrew Ivins
BlueandGold.com

Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola three-star athlete Carlos Becker has gone from a relative unknown on the recruiting scene, to one of Central Florida's most coveted prospects in the span of just two months.

Becker entered the month of January without a single scholarship offer, but after a bid came in from Duke, the flood gates began to open. Florida State, Florida, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Louisville all offered Becker scholarships, and now it's Notre Dame who might be next to enter the mix.

Becker told Blue & Gold Illustrated earlier this week, that new Notre Dame defensive backs coach Todd Lyght had made recent contact with him.

"Coach Lyght just started talking to me on Twitter and following me, so I'm not sure what that all means, but we'll see," Becker said.

Becker, who projects as a cornerback in college, has plenty of length at 6-foot-3,180-pounds &dmash; and that's one of the reasons why Lyght is interested. The first-year coach is looking for prospects that can play multiple positions in the secondary, and are strong against the run. Becker fits the billing for both.

Becker said that he didn't have any leaders at the moment, but was interested in any school that offered including Notre Dame.

"Florida State, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Ole Miss, Kentucky and Tennessee are the ones sticking out," Becker said.

The three-year starter had 56 tackles and three interceptions this past season for an Osceola team that made a surprising run to the Class 7A state finals. The junior campaign was good enough to earn him the No. 9 ranking in the Orlando Sentinel's 2016 Central Florida Super60.

He had built such a good relationship with Gilmore that when he left UNC he didn't know what to do. The visit helped that with getting time to talk to Chizik. ND, UNC, Bama, South Carolina, UF, and OSU are all schools he's interested in. Talks to UNC and ND everyday or every other day. Not a great deal of ND talk in the article but its clear that he has a very strong relationship with Gilmore which should translate down the road.
