I don't buy that evaluation. I don't see him as a second round pick. Not even a second day pick. But what do I know.

Agreed, I could see him as a late round pick but he would need to really improve this year to be any higher than that.

It's the Andrew Luck/John Elway factor. People will overvalue Stanford QBs for the rest of our lives because those two are so good.

I don't understand their rankings. Their top QB rankings have Kiel at #7 in the nation when he hasn't even taken a single college snap.

Anyone on the board familiar with MSU's defense this year? Will they be a tough test for Mariota?

Scout's Notebook: NFL prospects show well in marquee games - NFL.com

Looking at the Michigan-Notre Dame game, I believe Everett Golson is going to be an interesting prospect to monitor going forward. Although the Notre Dame star lacks prototypical dimensions (6-0, 200) for the pro game, he is a strong pocket passer with enough athleticism to make plays on the perimeter. With Russell Wilson emerging as a force in the NFL, evaluators could view Golson as an intriguing prospect due to his unique skill set.

Also notes on a Gardner and Funchess which are surprisingly positive.

I wonder what it would actually take for him to see a considerable drop.

So honest question, do you think Jameis Winston's problems make him more or less likely to come out for the 2015 draft?

He said he was planning to come back, but college doesn't seem to be the right environment for him at all (BB guns, crab legs and screaming vulgarities as a joke in the student union. Not to mention the more serious allegations), and he's already a hot commodity. Do you think he just tries to make the jump ASAP, or do the issues he's faced make NFL scouts want to see another year of good behavior from him?

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>NFL scout: Jameis Winston is "a fraud," hurt draft stock "significantly." --> <a href="http://t.co/ZZUx7dWVjc">http://t.co/ZZUx7dWVjc</a> (via <a href="https://twitter.com/AlbertBreer">@AlbertBreer</a>)</p>— CollegeFootball 24/7 (@NFL_CFB) <a href="https://twitter.com/NFL_CFB/status/513039343720488961">September 19, 2014</a></blockquote>

"It'll hurt him significantly," said the area scout, who is assigned to Florida State. "Especially with all the stuff going on in the league. This may force him to stay another year to clean up his image. He's a fraud. You can't believe anything he says, because he keeps doing the same things over and over. In my mind, there are night-and-day differences between (Johnny) Manziel's and his character concerns. Winston has some serious issues."

I think guys like Winston are going to suffer more so now then they would have been in the past.

Not to me. Taking a QB in the first makes you married to that QB. Add to the fact that Oakland is bereft of talent all across the field means that the GM, whether it be Reggie or not, should take BPA and it's hard to argue against Ogbuehi as BPA. They'll still be awful for a few years so they will have another shot at a high first round pick.

I just think either Jameis or Mariota are going to be in such demand that if you don't take a QB with the first pick, you shop it and get a few extra players. Like you said, their rebuilding project is going to be a multi-year plan so bringing in a bunch of guys will help get a young, cheap but talented foundation.

Colts should look defense pass rush but not at 3-4 DE. They will re-sign Redding and then have Jean-Francois and Arthur Jones making boatloads. They need to get a rush linebacker because Werner is trash and Mathis may never be healthy again. This time draft a rush linebacker who is fast.

That's a great point. I doubt we'll see another king's ransom like the RGIII trade though. Only if it's another Luck-type minimal risk prospect.
