Shaun Crawford – St Edward (Ohio)
Crawford has done it all for St.Ed’s this year and Friday was no different. On offense he had five catches for 70 yards. Crawford then turned in seven solo tackles, three assisted tackles, one pass breakup, and two interceptions in a 35-6 win. St. Ed’s (6-2) will take on Cincinnati Moeller (6-2) and Eljiah Taylor/Jake Hausmann on Saturday.

Has anyone heard how the Irish played on Saturday night affected the remaining targets?

Still pulling for Soso, ESB, Aliz'e, Coney, and Marshall.

With the bye this week Kelly said, as we already assumed, that the coaches will be out in full force recruiting this week. I'm very interested to see how the next week or two plays out. Spots are filling up.

Definitely should be interesting. Hopefully Coney on Thursday, then maybe finish with one of SoSo/Brossette, ESB/Cager, Buncom, Ross/Reid/Marshall/Minkah, and obviously any late elite add ins. Personally, I would like to see us finish out like this:

Coney
SoSo
ESB
Buncom
Minkah
Alize'

Then get a surprise flip in Mekhi Brown at the very end. We don't really have the spots for it, but how could you say no to any of those studs?

I agree, I think ESB in particular better really start thinking about his spot. ESB seems to have lost some traction with other schools and we may fill up while he is waiting them out

Good stuff fellas. For me I'm interested to see who the next S and WR is that jumps on board. My gut says its ESB since he's already visited and Cager won't visit until December. Also, who jumps on the S offer. We seemed to make some serious traction with Buncom but he also seems set on taking a January visit to Stanford. Soso has long been rumored to decided in October. I'm starting to think that gets pushed back and I wonder if that means we make a little push for Bussey. At this point I think the staff is set at TE and its Alize or bust so we're content letting him take his time. Guys like Minkah, Marshall, Ross, Brown, etc. are takes no matter what, IMO. A run to the CFB playoff will do wonders for this class, here's to believing!

Spot on brother. I hope they wait it out with Buncom for the safety spot unless Tell is blown away and wants that spot but not holding my breath on him. ESB makes sense however he seems pretty set on taking some visits and I thought I read somewhere he wants to official to UCLA and USC before deciding. I actually hope we make a push at Bussey to cover our bases, it looks like Soso may drag this out with talk about visiting A&M and Oklahoma. Minkah would be the grandslam in my book, love him as prospect and he would be exactly the kind of corner we need to bring in routinely to play the aggressive man to man coverage BVG wants to run.

The only name that is not a favorite to land at ND from that list is Minkah. The other 5 names have a very good shot at committing to ND. I would be happy with those 5, but numbers sure are tight.

I'd be fine with the staff passing on another WR. Nobody is lost from the '14 team and there are already 2 FR redshirting. In fact, I think S, LB, and pass rusher are all more needed than another WR.

Getting another WR will not stop us from landing another S, LB, or DE. S and LB are going to be filled and another DE probably won't be due to interest. It has nothing to do with adding another WR.

I actually agree with this but have just been too lazy to say anything. Spots are limited and I'd much prefer another DB or DE over a WR.

That would be awesome in a perfect world. However, after reading through the "Roster Projections" thread, it looks like we will only have space for 3-4 more kids at most. Realistic finish IMO is Coney, SoSo, Alize, and one of ESB/top corner or safety/Mekhi.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

No you are right. I just wonder what if they actually all want in? There lies the conundrum.

Tough call, but if they all theoretically want in I think the staff takes SoSo, Coney, top corner or safety, and Brown.

I've been woefully wrong before, but I don't think there is a strong chance that ESB is coming (just because of how comfortable we are at WR). If he does, I suspect that part of the reason is because the staff is looking ahead to the rest of the St. Brown gang. I would guess the same for Alize, as I feel there are positions of more need, but he is the top TE in the nation so it's hard to say.

I'd rather have Carlisle, Farley, Schmidt, Hegarty, and probably even Hanratty all next year over adding another WR this cycle as well.

Getting another WR will, most likely, stop the staff from getting a quality player at a position of need.

2015-16 Academic Classes

20 Verbal Freshmen Commits
23 Sophomores
22 Juniors
12 Seniors (includes Baratti)
16 Fifth-Year Seniors

93 Total Scholarships

Scratch Tiers 2 and 3, scratch Baratti...That's 9 players and if my math is right, totals 82 players...room for 3 more commits. This does not count decommits, transfers, early departures, other medicals. Any more than that and Tier 1 players will start getting scratched.

I'd be interested to see what everyone thinks in terms of who may transfer. With the youth movement, wouldn't surprise me to see a few leave who have been passed over on the depth chart.

No doubt some will say Malik however I don't see that happening. Only ones I could think of who would consider it, pure speculation...are guys like Randolph and possibly Deeb and Matuska due to lack of playing time and scheme fit

I guess I'll put this here- Commit reactions: Notre Dame vs. FSU

DT Micah Dew-Treadway - "First of all, it was a great and competitive game. It could have gone either way. Both teams fought hard, but of course I think we played better... VanGorder schemed amazingly. It gets me excited for next year to play prime time under the lights with all the fans. "

WR Jalen Guyton - "They cheated us... but I yeah, I can't wait (for next year). Everything about Notre Dame gets me hype."

LB Josh Barajas - "Great game against a great team. Wish it could have turned out better. Can't wait to get there next year to help the team out."

WR Miles Boykin - "Great game but the better team didn't win. I'm excited to get to ND to play in these big games."

CB Nick Coleman - "Still pissed about the end, but I think we played well and also showed the country how good we really are. It's especially games like that I can't wait to play in."

DT Brandon Tiassum - "It was a great game. It sucks that we lost on a 50/50 call like that. A game like that just makes you want to suit up and give it your all to play. I can't wait to play for Notre Dame next year."

S Prentice McKinney - "Very competitive, good game, and we should build from our mistakes. Losses shouldn't bring us down, but it should make us come together and go harder and stronger the next game."

S Nicco Fertitta - "Thought it was an amazing game other than the last penalty! I can't wait to be apart of the team and play in big time games every weekend."

OG Tristen Hoge - "It was definitely a fist fight from beginning to end. Each player showed tremendous fight from the first to last whistle and true resilience."

Added 2015 four-star safety target and Alabama commit, Ronnie Harrison of Tallahassee (Fla.) Florida State University School, "I thought Notre Dame should have won."

Harrison will take an official visit to Notre Dame on Nov. 22 for the Irish's last home game of the season vs. Louisville.

Individual standout performances on the gridiron also highlighted the weekend for a few Irish commits:

RB Josh Adams (Warrington, Pa., Central Bucks - South) - 26 carries for 198 yards and three touchdowns in a 28-21 win over Pennridge

WR Miles Boykin (New Lenox, Ill., Providence Catholic) - Seven receptions for 104 yards and one touchdown in a 45-42 win over Brother Rice

CB Nick Coleman (Kettering, Ohio, Archbishop Alter) - Two interceptions in 49-0 win Archbishop McNicholas

CB Shaun Crawford (Lakewood, Ohio, St. Edward) - Five receptions for 70 yards as well as two interceptions in a 35-6 win over Eastern Christian Academy

WR C.J. Sanders (Sherman Oaks, Calif., Notre Dame) - One kickoff return for score (95 yards) in a 56-21 loss to Crespi

DT Elijah Taylor (Cincinnati, Ohio, Moeller) - Nine tackles, one forced fumble and one sack in a 34-20 loss to St. Ignatius

CB Ashton White - (Forestville, Md., Bishop McNamara) - Two receptions for 26 yards and five tackles in a 70-32 loss to DeMatha

QB Brandon Wimbush (Jersey City, N.J. St. Peter's Prep) - 12-of-14 passing for 202 yards and three touchdowns as well as a 15-yard rushing touchdown in 49-0 win over Bayonne

Deeb should be playing fullback,or any other big athlete there is that isnt playing D.

Deeb isn't playing linebacker because he is too slow. Deeb did not play fullback for his high school team, American Heritage(Plantation). How could he possibly play in the backfield of a college playoff contender?

Im saying there's no reason/excuse for kelly not to have 1. Teams put defensive stars in backfield/hback, surely kelly could manage to put decent athletes not doing anything in some special package.
