Confused why they left Ykili Ross off the board while including some of those others.

I have no idea but I'm assuming its because not too many people are sure what to make of his recruitment since he's been so quiet.

Yeah, but relative to some of the other names on that board?

Also, considering there are a lot of different people saying we lead for Reid or are at minimum in the top 2 with PSU, I don't see how his interest could be construed as "mild"... only thing that keeps him out of this class is us filling up.

It is kind of refreshing really. It's weird because the less I hear, the more confident I become. Still, I will be quite thrilled as long as we land one more of these stud CB's! I keep thinking Reid is the one we end up with though. Just my gut on this one.

Agreed, I don't want to offend anybody but that board isn't really relative. It needs some work.

Wiltfong with a solid piece this morning on recruiting from here on out. From a source with knowledge of the situation we are targeting 22-23 players for this class but we won't turn away great players. Needs, none. We are looking to add difference makers regardless of position. We'd like to take a QB but won't take one just to take one. We'll be monitoring QB's throughout the fall. We look good for Bilal and remian in Coney's top 2. RB's to watch are Soso, Brossette, Aca'Cedric, Scarlett, D. Williams, and Cronkite. ESB best bet at WR. KLS and Gustin are perhaps the most important recruits left on the board for ND. Will be interesting to watch Gallimore's recruitment unfold but we expect to get an official.

Great situation to be in. Can shoot for the moon but missing won't be the end of the world. I just hope we have some guys lined up to fill out the class if we miss out on Soso, Bilal, and others. Can't stand undersigning.

We still have some needs. We need at least 1 more LB, and 1 more RB. Every other position is met though for sure.

Wonder if Wiltfong / ND is counting Bilal and/or Coney as practically in the fold with the 'no needs' comments, because I do think we need at least one more LB - preferably two. Also, I think I would consider a nice DE and another RB as 'needs' as well.

Besides that, I do believe we are in great shape roster wise. BK has done a fabulous job building a talented roster with no gaping holes (which have plagued us in the past).

My prediction on 2015 class :

-we got 17 and are aiming for 22-23
- assume we will lose one to a decommitment And pick up one that is not on the radar.

Most likely

Rb-soso
Wr-ESB
Lb-Bilal, Coney
Db- Ross

That leaves 1-2 spots for:
-QB
-Gallimore
-K.L.S.
-Gustin (won't play until 17)

Is 247 currently updating its rankings? I tried searching for a prospect and they all come up "N/A."

In the category of possibilities include the defensive ends from Georgia - Austin Bryant and Mekhi Brown. Both have scheduled fall official visits.

(it's a free one)Each year, the Butkus Award is given to the nation's top high school linebacker and Notre Dame has a few top targets up for the award from the class of 2014.

The award is named after Dick Butkus, arguably the most feared an intimidating linebacker in the history of the NFL. He played his entire career with the Chicago Bears and was inducted into the NFL Hall Of Fame in 1979.

Merrillville (Ind.) Andrean four-star linebacker and Notre Dame commit Josh Barajas made the annual list. The 6-3, 215-pound recruit pledged to the Irish on May 30 after flipping from an early commit to Penn State. As a junior, Barajas racked up 92 tackles, five sacks and two interceptions.

Indianapolis Ben Davis four-star linebacker Asmar Bilal also made an appearance on the Butkus Award watch list. The 6-3, 205-pounder is arguably the top player in the state of Indiana and a decision on his commitment is expected before the end of summer. Notre Dame and Michigan are the two favorites to land him. Per the 247Sports Crystal Ball, 10 of 11 predictions have Bilal headed to South Bend.

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., four-star linebacker Tevon Coney has become a hot name over the past few months and is now considered one of the more talented linebackers in the nation. The 6-1, 222-pound prospect has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Miami and others, but Notre Dame and Florida make up his top two. Like Bilal, a decision is expected prior to the end of summer. Per the 247Sports Crystal Ball, 19 of 23 prediction believe Coney will end up a Gator, but the last few predictions have him choosing the Irish.

Salem (Utah) Salem Hills four-star linebacker Porter Gustin made his way on to the list and there are very few more physically impressive players at his position nationally. The 6-5, 240-pound recruit has offers from Notre Dame, USC, UCLA, Ohio State, Florida State and many others, but the Trojans holds 100 percent of the predictions on the 247Sports Crystal Ball. Gustin is expected to visit South Bend for an official visit for the game against Michigan on Sept. 6 and the staff is hoping to make their pitch at that time. Those close to his recruitment believe Gustin will end up at either USC or Notre Dame in the end.

Bo Wallace will be taking an official for the Michigan game. And here's what TJ had to say.

We have a shot here. Family had a fantastic visit a month-plus ago and have been thinking long and hard about ND. Bo knows...we need pass rushers, especially a weakside speed type (or two). Overcoming the "distance from home" issue might be the key here.

Also, expect a few more top adds as OVs for Michigan, including CA CB Ykili Ross (UM or Stan weekend plan) and possibly PA CB John Reid (if he can accommodate that schedule).

Good, that game should be a really good one. I know I'll be doing my part to make it loud in there. A win could go a long way for us.

How high are you guys on Bo Wallace? I know we need a speed pass rusher in this class but I like some other guys more. Also worried about LSU possibly offering late.

I think he's got a lot of upside but I also agree that there are better prospects at WDE than him. He would be slightly below the group of Brown, Gustin, KLS, Cowart etc. With that said he doesn't plan on deciding soon so I'm not sure we need to worry about an early commit and then defection.

Yeah, if ND were going to sign 3 or 4 DE's, then I'd think Wallace would be great to get.

If they're only going to sign 1, then I'm a lot less excited if it is him.

I like Brown, KLS and Cowart but right after that I would take Wallace. He has a ton of upside and is a freak athletically. He reminds me of a taller Kolin Hill.

Best available was basically the theme of Wiltfong's article and TJ has said a lot about that as well recently. 1 is a must and 2 is ideal was the exact way that TJ phrased it.

Not to mention Bo's HS produces some of the top talent in the country most years so a foot in the door could be valuable. I thought we were going to get that last year with Alexander.

Remarkable story here, and an appropriate place for a foot in the door. The school, and the football team, are family run. As coach, J T Curtis II has won over five hundred games. Since 1975, every four year participant in the football program, has been on at least one state championship team(26 state championships). Question - Besides Michael Stonebreaker, have there been other John Curtis players at Notre Dame?
