Tuitt is not up for a 5th year at this point LOL. I do hope his mom gets in his ear and makes sure he stays for his senior year though!

Of the 5th years, I think you take Lombard, Moore, Collinsworth, and Hendrix, but everyone else only if there becomes room.

Is it sure that Everett will be reinstated for spring semester?

Andrew Hendrix is damn near 100% as things stand right now.

Also, nitpicking but Tuitt isn't a 5th year... he'd be leaving early. Nix would be a 5th year, but we all know he's going to skip that.

DL/ILB depth looks scary bad for next year. Better hope some frosh can play right away.

Sure would be nice to fill in some the gaps at DT and ILB with a couple JUCO transfers. This team could be elite.

The bad news is that ILB and DT is crap.

The good news is that other than Stanford and Navy (and maybe Michigan), we don't really play a power running team in 2014.

I think Kendall Moore will more than likely be asked back for a a 5th, similar to the two in the middle this year. The only difference is of course he hasn't played meaningful game snaps at the position.

I think with the depth there you almost have to bring him back, and see what you have there. Also, I don't see a way that Collinsworth doesn't come back, if he doesn't get fully unseated by the end of the year. If someone comes on and takes his spot, then I think you can safely say he may be gone.

I agree with the Hendrix assessment. I was leaving it up in the air whether he's accept, but I bet he would.

He's still projected as a 1st round pick. Unless something really bad happens (injury, completely tanks rest of season, etc.), he's unlikely to return for his senior year.

Moore's a near lock with our poor ILB depth. Collinsworth is also very likely to get asked back, even if he gets passed up. He provides veteran leadership in the secondary, and was a key contributor on ST.

IIRC, Hendrix explicitly stated he's returning if they ask him back.

Kendall Moore is one of those players that seems like he's been with the program forever... didn't he room with Frank Stams on his official viisit??

The three things that scare me about next year:
1) losing Martin and Watt. I know the OL has a very bright future, but I still think the unit takes a big step back next year without their experience.
2) D line. If Tuitt leaves this defense is in trouble.
3) ILB. no explanation needed.

No matter how you feel about them, losing Anzalone and Vanderdoes was devastating.

At the time, I thought Kendall Moore would be better than Shembo... NOPE.

I think that projection may change if the QBs in this class continue getting hype, i.e. Bridgewater, Manziel, Mariota, Hundley, Boyd, Carr, Mettenberger, McCarron, etc. If five or six of these guys go in the first round it's going to throw the wrench in his draft projection. He's round 1 talent but NFL teams love reaching on QBs.

Five or six quarterbacks are not going in the first round. I mean there is a ton of first round talent, McCarron not being one of them. I think if anything some will return that can, and the seniors will leave. Is there five or six teams that will draft a quarterback in the first round?

Tuitt
Day
Springmann
Jones
Rochell
Okwara (CAT)
Williams (CAT)
Hounshell

Not the worst situation on the DL. Tuitt needs to stay or it'll get too "interesting" for my liking.

Toss in potential medicals for Hounshell and Springmann, and "interesting" doesn't begin to describe it.

I agree with you but I didn't think EJ Manuel would go in the first this year.

Off the top of my head - Browns, Vikings, Texans, Jags, Bucs, Raiders and Cardinals all have a QB need.

1). If we insert Elmer and Bivin in ZMart's and Watt's positions, our OLine will still be VERY good. All of NMart, Lombard, and Stanley should rise up. I am not worried about OLine.

2). We will still have mighty weapons all over the rest of the offense. Both Koyack and Niklas will be very good. Daniels may finally decide to work hard off-season with his QBs and become draftable. People like Fuller and Robinson are ready to explode. Our RBs are also poised for a leap forward.

3). So guess what it {AGAIN --- Damm, will Coach never catch a Break?} comes down to? Will we have a mobile QB capable of running the offense? If so, we'll score a LOT of points.

4). I expect a very good defensive backfield awaits next year. Quality there tends to jump from one player's year to another. Russell and Luke should be great. Elliot MUST be able to manufacture some decent safety play out of Collinsworth, Baratti, Redfield, Shumate.

5). If Springmann is fully back, I think we'll survive on the DLine; he's better than almost everyone gives credit for. {Just like Kona this year}. Day will be NFL-good. That leaves Diaco with the choice to go big with Rochell, Jones, Hounshell, and some of the rookies --- and we've ALWAYS used rookies lately --- or go small and fast with IWilliams, Okwara, Rabasa and other rooks. I'm also interested in how Matuska is coming along. If he's another Springmann/ Schwenke then very good.

6). The edge linebackers should be very good. JSmith, Councell, IWilliams, Okwara, Rabasa, and even transplants like a Baratti or a Turner could up the speed quality in space.

7). So, the middle...... PRAY PRAY for Jarrett Grace's full recovery. If he's healthy, he could put up Te'o-numbers of reps and fill the scorecard at one of the positions. For the other? Deeb.... Randolph.... Moore {unlikely but maybe the light will go on}.... Schmitt {I am getting a bit more comfortable that this guy can play}.... Martini { I think that this guy is likely to be VERY good, but it's asking a lot of a rook}. Unless something very surprising happens [like the mythical shift of Councell to ILB], I think that we should start sending healing thoughts to Jarrett and Monster-in-the-Middle thoughts to Michael, Doug, and Joe.

If Diaco fixes the Will [he SHOULD be able to; THAT's his old position], and Jarrett's OK, and Everett or Malik get their sh!t together, I think that we'll win 10 again.

Expect the offense to carry the load next year. We may see the vaunted hyper-speed offense after all. We are going to need to outscore a lot of teams!

As far as position switches, I think we are at the point where experimentation is required, not optional. That's why I think the Councell to ILB is all but assured. I also think we will see some crazy experimentation at NT, like Montelus.

OMM touched on it, but shouldn't Schmidt be added to the ILB depth? Also, shouldn't Massa be added to the 5th years? He's a senior this year.
