1. I never said they were back. I said this is Big for the program.
2. When a school talks about job placement they are talking about if the person gets a job when they graduate. They don't talk about where they end up, all of the kids are not CEO's..... When a college football program is selling to a kid, if they are talking about players being drafted into the NFL this is exactly what are talking about. No matter what happens they have 8 players drafted in 2014.
3. I'm done arguing with another ND fan on a ND message board. It's idiotic.

We are talking about TWO different things here, NFL vs life without football. But when you are selling your program to kids, and they ask about NFL players they don't want to know about the 3rd rounders or later, generally speaking. They want to know how many first rounders a year you are sending the League. Same goes for schools when they expound upon how your children's education will lead them to better openings. How often do you hear Whiskey and others harp on the ROI that ND education has as compared to other football powers? Why? Because it DOES matter where you get your job. If you are spending $40K a year to go to ND and have to get a job that pays minimum wage then do you think that ND brags about the minimum wage earners to prospective families? No.

Sure graduation is great and getting a job is fantastic (believe me I am one of many people struggling to find a good fulltime job atm), but just graduating and getting a job via CareerBuilder, while holding an ND degree is not exactly what ND expects from its graduates because a typical ND graduate is not in that boat, simply because of their degree and the expectation students have that their degree will provide them opportunities that are not available to other students from "lesser" institutions.

And while I do think it is a positive step for the Irish program, I do not think it will be as big a selling point if 2/3 of the players wash out. It is not just a numbers game because when kids ask, they want to know WHERE your players were drafted.

Random question, if you put someone on the Ignore List, will you still see their posts in the Gentlemen's Club? Asking for a friend

To put it more simply, if a teenager is going to decide between LSU and ND about where to go play football, they will likely be swayed by the fact that LSU produced higher draft picks than ND did, not that ND and LSU tied for the most draft picks.

I went through and looked at some of the notable schools and how many players were drafted from there.

LSU:9
Notre Dame:8
Alabama:8
FSU:7
Stanford:6
Michigan:3
Michigan State:1
USC:3
UNC:5
Florida:4
Georgia:2

Just some of the ones I can remeber off of the top of my head. 9 was the most drafted out of any school this year.

Are these undrafted players?

Surprised Skov didn't get drafted.

If you're trying to say stars don't matter, the draft seemed to prove the opposite. I saw a stat yesterday that said 50% of the players drafted were either 4/5 star players, even though 4/5 star players only make up ~8% of the total athletes.

A few of those guys on the undrafted list had situations come up at some point during there career that either hampered their development or brought up some question marks didn't they?

Correct me if I am wrong on any of these because I am working strictly off of memory.

Skov - injuries and DUI
Bullough - suspended and/or kicked off the team
Redd - Transfer from Penn State after scandal and injuries while at USC
Wilder - arrested not too long ago
Crowell - trouble and transfer
Ikard - ate too much pasta

Thats just from memory. The last one is a joke obviously, but I would bet that most those guys would have been drafted if they would have followed the right path and stayed out of trouble and/ or stuck it out at their original college choice.

I agree, He did sign with the niners after the draft.

Is the draft over? I'm out of the house.

Very happy to see ND tied for most picks if it's final. Very impressive and a good thing to have in your back pocket when it comes to recruiting.

Hell, I even tip my cap to Longo.

WOW! That statement just crossed out #2 on my list of things I never thought I would see, right between "ESPN, Scout, Rivals, and 247 are reporting that Prairie View has the number one ranked recruiting class, beating Nick Saban & Alabama for 12 five *'s" And, "Republicans are trying a last ditch effort to get President Obama another term in office"! HAHAHA!

If Bryant Young did not win go to 4 Pro Bowls, as well as Super Bowl and retired as one of the Niners all time sacks leaders, then I would have a HARD time making the case that the Irish had produced elite NFL talent that year.

Really? Because Aaron Taylor and Tim Ruddy were in the same draft, and both of them had pretty stellar careers.

We're T-1st (w/LSU) in most 1st-3rd round picks with 5.

We're T-2nd (w/Alabama and trailing LSU who has 9) in most draft picks.

From 2008-2014 drafts:

2008: 4 draft picks
2009: 1
2010: 4
2011: 1
2012: 4
2013: 6
2014: 8

So BK has been doing a good job of putting us with the top dogs.
