lol that dude got two tackles in the NCG last year. He's also listed as 5'11'', so that picture has to be an optical illusion / parallax issue to make him seem so short (i.e. there's got to be steps or something below the photo line of sight).

he had the opening tackle on kickoff if my memory serves me

I really hope Calabrese at WILL and Fox at MIKE is because Calabrese has improved not Grace has not lived up to his hype.

I know its been discussed that Luatua could play defense but could he play ILB?? We seem to be pretty good at outside linebacker but just curious if we could land Luatua if anyone thought he could move inside.

Staff loves Luatua at TE and that's where he would play here.

1. Ishaq is not playing Middle Linebacker in Dime. Dime is 1 LB. Ishaq is lining up in a drop position like he has always in Dime. Its about 6 yards off the los behind the end. It allows for a stunt and deeper flat coverage. Dime = 3rd and really long or prevent situation, its not setup to stop the run.

2. Everything i have been told Springmanns done for the year. 8 month recovery.

3. There are some injuries that were not disclosed that will determine the season, if they can get taken care of now and not be nagging injuries, that will be awesome in my book.

4. Luke pretty much has the nickel and #3 spot locked down barring a complete meltdown the last week of training camp and from all reports Butler isnt far behind him.

5. Its really good to see guys finally getting healthy and showing that they can contribute...Hardy, Collinsworth, Councell, Amir.

6. Chris Brown is about to put himself on the map. Kid has really locked in and got himself to the next level. I fully expect him to start opposite davaris with TJ in the slot.

7. Jarron Jones has had a good camp and will be more than fine to play the role he will be given. Just bc he isnt starting doesnt mean he is a bust. He has a pretty good 1st team line infront of him. This is his first camp in the system and should get better each week. There's a big difference in getting meaningful reps in the 2-3 deep over scout team, and getting looks as a player that needs a year.

So it's the 4 man front (Shembo, Ishaq, 2 DL) we are used to in Nickel w/ just Grace? That seems more likely than the 3-2-6 Dan Murphy alluded to

Isn't this his second camp?

You're right.

Opinions of development aside, it'd be astronomically huge if this year he can play the role that Sheldon Day did last year. With Springmann likely out and EV being a no-show, we need Jones much sooner than later.

Based on what TP said and practice reports, I would guess Watt is the one who is "unofficially" seriously hurt.

As far as Carlisle not being in the slot, I see that as a great reflection on Chris Brown. From TP's comments, he's been doing so well that TJ got moved to the slot in a "get the best guys on the field" move, and so Carlisle got bumped back to RB so that he would see the field more.

I think Carlisle seeing a lot of RB reps today is just the staff getting guys reps and seeing what they could do. The last time the media had access he took no carries and was almost exclusively in the slot

Also, we were missing three RBs today (Cam and Mahone to injury and Folston to family issue) so he was needed back there. My guess is he will see time in the slot and at RB.

1) Sad to hear about Danny Spond, thoughts and prays to he and his family, a true ND kid.
2) ISHAQ WILLIAMS NEEDS TO BE ON THE FIELD AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE THIS YEAR!!
3) The more videos of practice I watch Tommy looks more and more comfortable and he is throwing the football more with a confidence.
4) Corey Robinson could be a red zone threat that could give opposing defenses headaches.
5) I expect to hear more and more about Jaylon Smith and not because of Danny Spond. I think BK has been keeping quiet about him and letting him make the impressions to show he is everything as advertised.

Two weeks until kick-off!!!

That sounds right about Watt. Really stinky news

Admittedly, I don't know a lot about the recovery time for a concussion but shouldn't Watt be able to be cleared for the Temple game if a concussion is all that he is dealing with? That is 2 weeks to recover. And hopefully we don't need him that much for Temple so even let him rest for 3 weeks? I know when you have had a lot of concussions it can be a long-term issue but I haven't heard that Watt has a history of concussions, unlike Spond has had.

Depends on the seriousness of the concussion. 2 weeks for someone to sit at a desk is very normal, but 2 weeks for someone that is going to ram their head into someone else can be a very short time depending on how serious the first one is. You are much more susceptible to a concussion after your first one. They are smart to play it safe.

This whole guessing at Watt being injured is why I'm not a fan of cryptic 'news'. Either say something or don't.
