Colorado barely deserves to be in the NIT with that non-conference schedule.

Poor ODU and Pitt....At least Notre Dame just avoided Butler.

Not saying VCU should be in but Colorado deserved to be out. 8-8 in the Big 12 and there SOS outside the conference was HORRIBLE. Three hundred something horrible

For what it's worth, I've watched a couple VCU games this year (cousin goes there) and Colorado is head and shoulders better. Not saying Colorado deserved to be in, just saying they are a more talented team.

I think the big flaw in NCAA tourney seeding is that they are so dependent on the archaic RPI. RPI actually tells you very little about teams. In lacrosse they really focus on quality wins (i.e. top 5 wins, top 10 wins, top 20 wins, etc.) so you get credit not for playing a "tough" schedule in terms of metrics but for actually beating top competition.

An example of why RPI is messed up is that Utah State (a #12 seed) counts as a tougher game than any team in the bracket besides SDSU, Kansas and Ohio State. So RPI inherently contradicts itself.

Anyone else have somewhat of a boring bracket? In my serious pools, I have all #1 seeds in the Final Four, with OSU winning it all over Kansas. I have Gonzaga going Elite 8 and Utah State going to the Sweet 16 and Belmont over Wisconsin, but its pretty boring besides that. In my not serious bracket, I have ND going all the way lol. Couple other random upsets I have are Richmond over Vandy, Marquette over Xavier, Mizzou over Cincy. It doesn't seem as boring writing it out, but I really hate having all four #1 seeds in the Final Four. How does everone else's bracket look?

Almost identical. I have all number 1 seeds advancing as well. I have Syracuse in the Elite 8 losing to Ohio State. I have UConn losing to Duke in the Elite 8. I have Pittsburgh beating Florida in the Elite 8. I have Kansas beating ND in the Elite 8.

Upsets I have Tennessee over Michigan

Marquette over Xavier

I actually didn't bite on the Vandy/Richmond or the Utah State/Kansas State 5/12 matchups.

I took Mizzou over Cinci

I got Gonzaga over St. Johns

I went balls to the wall with purdue.

Something about them makes me think they will shock the world...... until they lose to ohio state in the championship.

Purdue lost someone for the year, discipline issues I think?! A D stopper, name escapes me...Bilas said big loss because it was someone to guard Benny if that matchup happens. Anyone help me out here (on the bus with my phone, my team is playing to advance to Michigan's Elite 8 2nite!)

Colorado should be in the tourney, period....VCU/UAB is a total joke...(I know I am late on this debate, been busy.) The RPI is a joke, and so is small schools scheduling tough non-conference schedules, and getting credit for it, when they DON'T win!! I don't care if you schedule Duke, KU, and Ohio St. if you get beat by 30 all three times. Colorado beat KSU 3 times, Texas once, and played KU tough twice...they had 6 top 50 wins, UAB or VCU (can't remember which) had 0...total joke...................................

Sorry, end of rant

I have a lot of chalk in my brackets as well, I like the #1 seeds, ND, Kentucky, Syracuse, Texas, UCONN as really the only non #1's w/ a shot (although I think UCONN runs out of gas). I like Belmont over Wiscy, Marquette over Xavier, and I think Washington has the ability to upset the Tarheels, but not sure if they will show up.

Agreed, I have all #1s with State over Kansas and I feel cheated.

Whats better, Waking up on St Patricks's day on the West Coast and having games to watch immediately or being on the East Coast and having games go until midnight?

I had trouble finding picks that I felt good about and when I was done there was a 'lack of excitement' that was there in years past. But I think once they start playing it will quickly get exciting. Especially if I get some upsets early.

in one pool I had all four #1's making the final 4, which for me is always a no-no. odds are, all 4 are not going to make it. for me Xavier is a great tourney team(historically), I usually treat them as 'worth one more win than I think they are worth' but I cant pick them over syracuse. Belmont seems to be a huge upset favorite, I know alot of ppl that picked Belmont over Wisconsin. I did take Clemson over West Virigina in one of my brackets. Originally I had St. john's winning a few games, but I remembered that Steve Lavin is the coach, and he likes to lose to inferior teams in the tourney (at least with UCLA he used to) and they wont be playing at MSG. My mystery team is San Diego St. in another bracket, I went out on a limb and picked SDSU over Duke in the west final. (really to avoid having all #1's in the final 4, but Duke can win it all)

For those that have an iPhone there is a March Madness app that streams all the games live and gives you upset alerts and such. I tried it out tonight and it works great... Some of us have to work tomorrow.

I got Oakland over Texas, Wofford over Byu, Belmont over Wisconsin, and Morehead State over Louisville for my MAJOR upsets.

I have us losing to Florida State in the second round. (Sorry guys). I got Kansas winning it all.

Either way this is gonna be a fun tourney.

Pat Forde is a douche.

Best Case: Mike Brey does what Digger Phelps and every other men's basketball coach in school history failed to do -- capture a national title. Riding the rarest commodity in the game -- lavish experience -- the heady Fighting Irish reverse the trend that says you must have surefire pros to win it all. The Irish shoot the lights out of three successive venues and win a succession of close games -- they beat Louisville in their third overtime meeting of the season, then take out Kansas State in Houston and slay Ohio State in the title game. Ben Hansbrough joins big brother Tyler in the fellowship of the (championship) ring. Phelps gives Brey a gold-plated highlighter. Notre Dame faces reality and officially becomes a basketball school, and to prove it, the Irish commit to building a new arena.

Worst Case: Experience is great, but athleticism can beat it. Notre Dame runs into that in a second-round upset loss to Florida State. The Seminoles blanket the Irish shooters and savage them on the offensive glass. Crestfallen Notre Dame fans remember that Mike Brey has never been to a regional final, much less a Final Four, as a head coach. Then they go back to scrutinizing the spring football depth chart. Meanwhile, Mike Krzyzewski unexpectedly retires after winning a fifth national title and Duke names Brey to succeed him.

Ya, his Dad played ball at ND too. Apparently ND didn't recruit him due to grades/attitude. Good call on our part.

sad to claim his as an alum of my high school, his dad (Ken Barlow) still teaches here and is a class A kind of guy, he was an NBA first round pick but decided to play ball in Europe then become a teacher and a minister, its very unfortunate that this happened to his son.
