I'll step in for them.
Buster, the original poster did not say that our nation's obesity problems are the fault of the south. They said that it is more prevalent in the South. Which, according to the info you provided, is absolutely true.
It is also true that the south has more people on welfare and have poor public education.
but but but... I thought we scattered like roaches??
Mississippi is still one of, if not the fattest, least educated, and tax-wasting state in the nation. Maybe they should try to make it on their own if it's all the federal government's fault. It would be fun to watch. They could even outlaw the interracial marriage they hate so much.
But the case can be made that the south is simply ahead of the curve and that the netire country is still going to ****.
Well let's look at this. Poor education = remaining poor. So education is the problem.
Who runs the education in schools? You guessed it: the government. I find it highly ironic. I'm not saying that the government can't solve this problem, but when we rip a state as poor and uneducated... who is educating them?
BUSTER = THE LIGHT
SCATTER
I'm not here to defend Mississippi. Please elaborate on "tax-wasting," please.
You two are like dumb and dumber.
At least when Buster argues, he has points. You two are just bumbling weirdos standing behind him waiting for your opportunity to make another knee-jerk comment.
I posted a chart in the presidential thread about federal tax money used compared to federal tax money given. Basically Mississippi has the 2nd worst difference in that category.

If you can name that "CHART"... you win a prize!
I name it Frank McGinley. What's my prize?
This is just a cluster of a thread. Shut 'er down.
Ahead of the curve in being fat? What does that have to do with the fact that they are... in fact... worse than the rest of the country? This is just spin, buster... and you know it.
Wrong. The majority of education decisions ranging from how much tax revenue is used and how the schools will be ran come from the state, not the federal government. So the same local government that is failing the south both socially and economically, are also failing them in the classrooms. Only failed programs like "Every Child Left Behind" are instituted from the feds.
No, some people just need to stop trying to turn it into their personal, and pathetic, attempt at trying out for Def Comedy Jam.
Why does it have to be Def Comedy Jam? Why not Redneck Comedy Tour?

Dude, if you're going to bring nothing but garbage to this thread please leave. You're detracting from the conversation.
First of all, the idea of states seceding is dumb. But I see that you all aren't really talking about that anymore. Because I value my sanity, I'm not going to go read back through this thread or try to interject in the impressive debate taking place here.
I will just say that I would absolutely LOVE for the "red states" to secede and make a go of it. They would be a third world country inside of a decade.
Talk about "I lol'd"

I had always been under the impression that Vermont had the highest percentage of active secessionists.
