I loved how excited Tirek was after his visit, it'd be a shame to pass on a such a high quality RB when we've historically recruited it so poorly but....

I defer to the coaches in regards to roster management, if that's the issue here.

I'd be ok with 1 if Bartleson is one of the DB's. A couple of injuries and a transfer and you can be in trouble quick. Having a back up option to switch to RB in each class is a nice luxury to have... like Jafar was. Like KAR and Isaiah Rutherford could be from last year's one RB class.

(Isaiah Rutherford is a guy who ran for 1500 yards as an underclassman)

I agree. I would hate to pass on this kid as well (if thats what actually happens/is happening). Especially if it is because of landing Tyree. I DESPERATELY want Tyree, but i am also feeling that he will be a recruit we have to fight EXTRA hard to keep IF he does commit. The big boys will surely keep on him regardless of a May Commitment.

Yep.
Though if we're going to pass on someone, and assuming we're confident in Tyree, would it be wiser to take Murphy and let Henning walk?

If it is Tirek's backing away because of a potential Tyree commitment (fingers crossed) it would be a little silly because Tyree doesn't strike me as a bellcow downhill runner. And not to take a shot at our RB stable but we have:

2018: 2 3*
2019: 1 low 4* outside of the top 250
2020: (possible) 1 back listed at 175 lbs.

At most big-time schools he wouldn't have much of a better opportunity to get playing time than he would at ND. If the coaches decide there's no room well then they know better than me but I don't see playing time as being a huge barrier based on what we have at the moment.

Per BGI interview with EJ Holland and Tirek Murphy...

Mentioned he cut his 16 to 8 and wants to get it to 5 soon and then do his OV’s in the summer followed by a commitment before 9/7 (his first game of his senior season).

Just as an FYI to remaining dates for all recruits. There’s not a ton of weekends left before the fall

5/18 - I don’t think ND is doing OV’s on May weekends during eval period. Some schools are but I like ND’s strategy
5/25
6/1 - haven’t heard anything for that weekend but could include some OV’s eventually
6/8 - smaller ND OV weekend right now that could grow
6/15 - 15,16,17,18 they have tons of camp stuff. Doubtful ND mixes in OV’s that weekend
6/22 - huge OV weekend
7/27 small 1 week recruiting period to host visitors before training camp

In regards to RB recruiting I don’t know how they’ll figure out how to fit in Murphy’s OV after Tyree’s decision is made. I’m hoping they’re taking two RB’s at this point cause I love Murphy but I’m not so sure that’s happening at this point. In 1 month and a couple of days we’ll have some real clarity on the class.

I'll be rooting hard for Tirek. I wish the coaches would've had room. Maybe if we didn't take two RBs in prior classes, we would've had room for him.

Still love his game and think he's a great in-between the tackles RB.

Good for him and Brohm. Need to build Brohm's resume for a shot at the next step. Brohm's got a good start in '20 and his '19 class is the best UTR class in the country. Whoever Purdue's Papa Rees is, dude's knocking it out of the park.

Dammit. Tirek is one I wanted to see at Notre Dame. Hoping he tears it up at Purdue.

Freshman running back Tirek Murphy was arrested by Purdue police on preliminary charges of possession of marijuana Saturday morning before the Boilermakers' opening game.

The four-star recruit was stopped by police while driving without his headlights on at 1 a.m. on Saturday, according to Capt. Song Kang. Police stopped him and reportedly smelled marijuana as they approached the vehicle, Kang said. Police then searched the vehicle and reportedly found about 30 grams of marijuana inside.

He was not under the influence at the time, Kang said.

Murphy was issued a citation rather than being detained, but "from a legal standpoint, it's the same thing," Kang said. Murphy will still have to appear in court and can be charged officially by prosecutors.

Murphy did not see the field on Saturday, according to the box score, but it's unclear if he didn't play because of this incident or another reason.

As for why Murphy was cited and not detained, Kang said it "depends on the circumstances."

He also said that PUPD doesn't want to take people to jail for minor offenses "under the COVID system."

Purdue Athletics said in an email that the department "is aware of the situation and will address accordingly."

According to previous Exponent reporting, Purdue administers drug tests for marijuana randomly throughout the year. If a student-athlete tests positive, punishment could range from a meeting with the sports medicine director to a partial or full suspension and rehab process.

Purdue Athletics did not offer specifics about a policy for student-athletes who are cited or arrested for drug violations.

That's over an once of weed...Could this behavior be one of the reason ND cooled on him?

In 2020 who still has to turn on their own headlights? Do his windows hand roll up and down too? Brahm needs to be chatting with his bag men... Terrell Pryor never had this headlight problem.

Every time after an oil change, because those dirty bastards always turn it off of auto for some reason.

The aroma does have a tendency to hang around in a confined area like the inside of a car. A friend told me that.

When my cousin comes over I can smell the sticky as soon as he enters the neighborhood. I think he is always riding dirty...
