Now 7-0.

Added another BC analyst CB last night.

I wonder if they interviewed him and got the feeling he may pop soon?

Sorry for the ignorance, not familiar with this kid, other than his brother...

I assume Irish are still in command?

He's never really stated this but it seems to be what most think. Very early offer, play with brother, Coach Lea, great academics, and big time football. Just a lot that works in our favor.

ISD freebie offering some insights as to some 2020 Defensive Recruits
https://irishsportsdaily.com/s/7563/2020-defensive-outlook

If you thought Shayne Simon kept a low profile during the recruiting process, meet his younger brother. Cody Simon does his talking on the field and it’s led to scholarship offers from schools like Notre Dame, Penn State, Stanford, Boston College, Pitt, Maryland and Rutgers among others. Penn State seems like it’s making a big push and we wouldn’t count out Stanford either. Michigan was one school Shayne took a long look at and his mother went there, so it’ll be interesting to see if Cody has a similar interest. But if Shayne enjoys the early portion of his career in South Bend, that could be as big a factor as anything.

Got a CB last week from Penn St analyst Sean Fitz. Still 100% ND.

Pretty safe to assume this is going to be a small LB class. Depending on Asa's decision, I could see taking Simon and shutting it down unless a real 5 star type LB wanted in.

Yep. Good year to have to sit out. Overall weak class as it relates to ND kinda guys. They didn't like Kaden Johnson enough to offer at Buck/Drop. The one guy I'd like to see them get on is Nikhai Hill-Green. I moved him to the top of my board and he's just a 3* for now.

Staff does not seem to pushing hard for LBs and rightfully so since they are taking a ton in 2019. They can choose to be picky, although I do like of the ones that are out there like Ethan West, Korey Smith, Kalel, and Jordan Turner.

Fairly surprised by that and somewhat telling. Seems like they're being fairly selective at Drop with 20' offers. I wonder if that means a position change is coming for someone like Ovie O. Also, seems like we'll need to take 2 SDE's in this class. I wonder if that means it'll be 2 SDE's + a swing player like Rylie Mills. Or if Mills will be one of the 2 SDE's.

We might be a bigger part of Sav'ell Smalls recruitment than we originally thought... He was visited by the staff today, and that hardcore husky board (which is just a terrible site tbh, and should not be considered very credible) has a rumor that a family member said that Smalls is mostly looking at Alabama and ND.

I think Smalls would be considered a Drop target.

Also, Mullings confirmed with BGI that the early target is 1 LB for the 2020 class.

The staff has been out multiple times to see Sav’ell Smalls in the recent recruiting periods. Clearly they are trying to make inroads which is awesome to see. However, I just don’t see it happening. He comes from UW territory and has been recruited by them for years. He’s got a great relationship with former UW DL Coach Tosh Lupoi at Bama and has already been to their campus on two separate occasions. FSU also has inroads in that their staff recruited his teammate to FSU (Tre’Shaun Harrison) after leaving from Oregon. To finish that off he’s also got a great relationship with the new Oregon staff who piggybacked off the previous staff and got him to visit twice this fall. Washington, Oregon, FSU, and Alabama might be a little tough to overcome for ND. That’s a lot of deep seeded relationships and he’s never even been to ND’s campus yet. If he ever gets to campus then that would be awesome and look out, but right now it’s an extreme long shot behind those 4 schools.

Is that if they get Turner in 2019 as well? I am all for taking Cody Simon, but if Smalls wants to LB they should let him.

Anyone hear anything about him lately? I feel like at this point if he is not committing the staff is low playing due to open spots. If, and that is a big if, they can take 2 LB's this cycle he should be one of them.

There are 12 linebackers right now for the 2019 season. Asmar Bilal is the only one who graduates which would bring it down to 11 in 2020. I’d think they bring in 2 guys for sure at the LBer position unless they already have a DB or two that they think will be a linebacker in the future which is always plausible. Right now I’d say the number is 2 and Cody Simon should be 1 of them. I really hope Kalel Mullings is one of them right now. They don’t seem to have much going on with linebacker right now. Many of the linebacker offers are actually Drop targets like Savell Smalls, Jaheim Thomas, Phillip Webb and maybe a few others. Not too sure who is left at linebacker. I think Drew Sanders might also be a drop, and idk about Cullen Coleman. The only guys I know for sure are linebackers and have expressed some level of interest are Jordan Botelho, Kalel Mullings, and Cody Simon.

New LB offers that are being made by Lea at least means the staff wants to expand the board.

I wouldn't be too surprised by a lack of info on the Simon recruitment, Shayne's was very quiet as well. So much so that in the weeks and days leading up to his announcement, because their was so little information, posters on here were blasting the staff in his recruitment saying they were failures because he hadn't committed yet which meant he was trending away. That sentiment was far from the truth.

This is one where you'll just have to be patient.

This

He remains a priority recruit for the staff and is getting the attention, we're just not hearing about it weekly.

Looks like Cody Simon will be on campus in a couple weeks when:

Chris Tyree
Tirek Murphy
Zak Zinter
&
Landon Tengwall

are all here.

I'm surprised 247 didn't bump him up to 4* in the last update. Maybe they wanna see him improve that 4.77/40 from last years Opening-NJ? Rivals has him at a 4* and #9 ILB
