AhStay another year and let him play some WR as well and get TDs.
There are two positions on the field normally. Only one is playing good/greatI remember when people thought we were screwed at safety. Let’s see if Caleb Downs ever has a season like X is having.
Another year would do him some good i think. More reps!He definitely needs to stay another year to improve his uh…I don’t know but he definitely needs to stay another year.
We agree. Do you know if we landed him because we'd give him a shot at WR first? I was sold he would be a real good Safety (as many thought as well) due to his physicality, never claimed AA, but felt like starter ability on a good D.I mentioned this a long time ago, but I watched Xavier play two games, back to back weekends, his Junior year in HS at Burke when he led them to the State Title.
His HS is in West Omaha, the school district Father Jenkins & his brothers would have went to if they didn’t go to Prep, the prominent all boys HS there.
My wife grew up in the same neighborhood the Jenkins’ did, & she went to Marion, the prominent all girls Catholic HS there.
When ND was getting Watts I decided to check him out in person while visiting the in-laws in West O.
I was able to see him twice.
He was a stud.
I specially after the catch as a WR.
I was sold & talked him up & tried convincing people there is no way he was a 3 Star.
Driskell, of all people, felt the same way as me & thought Watts was a stud too.
His family was the ones who Nebraska fans tried ruining his father’s small business because Xavier chose ND.
And the NU fans said Xavier Watts would suck & the other Xavier, Xavier Betts, WR from Nebraska in same class who chose Nebraska, would be a stud.
I disagreed with them.
Betts has been horrible and in trouble, Watts has graduated ND already & possible All American.
I let the In-laws here about it now.
Can we work him in on offense for a few plays a game?!He knows how to catch the football that’s for sure. Some of his catches have been next level.
He should at least return punts or kick offs. When was last time we had a big run in those departments apart from the several in the last 2 games. Can we work him in on offense for a few plays a game?!
I hate quoting myself but here I am.I've wanted Xavier since he showed up on the radar but my biggest issue is which side would he be best on? He's a very good WR in those clips but it looks like he'd be a great CB. He's not afraid of contact, he has good reaction speed/acceleration.
Just get him in this class and let the rest get sorted.

That sorta thing happens here too. Kid chooses to go big time and (select) people who should be rooting for him suddenly sour and get very salty. I doubt it's just a Plains thing but I have no ideaI mentioned this a long time ago, but I watched Xavier play two games, back to back weekends, his Junior year in HS at Burke when he led them to the State Title.

Apparently he didn’t participate in the senior day activities. Could be something worth remembering.
He said he hasn't made up his mind, but he didn't want to be considered in the senior group. Honestly, I think his stock is probably as high as it's ever going to get being the country's INT leader, I think it'd be smartest for him to go and get drafted high.Apparently he didn’t participate in the senior day activities. Int numbers are not what any GM/talent evaluator in the NFL looks at. They look at the tape and see how a player diagnoses things, how they break on the ball, how quickly the react. His stock is not as high as it'll ever be because he can still go up another level. Even if his INT #s drop by half, he could still be more disruptive and assertive in his reads.Interception leader =/= high draft pick.
Us Irish fans are ecstatic about his play, but the NFL will see that most of his interceptions were gift wrapped with a bow on it. He’s played one full season as a starting safety, I think he needs to put more film out for the NFL to see.
Depends on how much Xavier gels with Joe Rossi i guess...Gotta wonder how much the Golden situation figures into this. Say Golden goes to Syracuse, does that change things?
Rossi missed his opportunity to upgrade big time last year … not doing so well this yearDepends on how much Xavier gels with Joe Rossi i guess...
Watts is a good football player but he still makes mistakes as a safety because he's still pretty new at the position. He'd be smart to stay.Int numbers are not what any GM/talent evaluator in the NFL looks at. I think he could probably go Rd 3-4 right now. If he improves his game, Watts could go up substantially. He's very athletic, he needs to improve his diagnosing skills.
Who cares about his best interests? He should come back.He said he hasn't made up his mind, but he didn't want to be considered in the senior group.
