"FYI Notre Dame and Martinez spoke again tonight. Things are moving in the right direction."

247 is all about the click... so much so that the home office can take intel from Columbus and share it with ND to increase click while ISD (or any independent) has to wait on a text back and hope they had a good relationship with the player throughout the process.

Loy can't be BSing... right?

Who knows. Wouldn't make sense to BS this. Only reason I can read the ND content on 247 because I share an account with my Illinois basketball fan buddies.

The other factor is that (lately) ISD seems to be leaning towards the "state media" side of things, where they have concrete info that they could share, but won't drop the news until ND and the staff give them the green light.

They don't want to burn the coaching staff, the kids, or the coaches involved with potential changes.

247 doesn't seem to go quite so far to protect the interest of the recruits or the staff, though I know they DO hold their stories when possible (aka when they know other sites aren't going to leak things or beat them to the punch).

In this case, I'd bet Mike Frank is laying down the old "haven't heard anything" smoke screen for Martinez and the staff while both sides see how compatible they are at the moment, while 247 is getting the goods from Buckeye reporters, as you said. Loy isn't burning ND bridges if they info is coming from elsewhere... he doesn't even need to ask an ND source for the scoop on this one.

Read down through this tweet thread. Kid is punching back at Loy.

My .02: I’ve been talking to Cameron a long time now and have written several stories about him. He’s been just about as consistent as any prospect that I’ve seen. He knows what he’s looking for and has been pretty meticulous in his process to make sure he finds the right fit. https://t.co/U5PdpaCs0g
— Louie Vaccher (@WildcatReport) May 21, 2019

Loy had public issues with this kid before....would he really be posting clickbait about him now?

Yeah, they wouldn't even release more of the possible attending to next months Jr Day because it might hurt ND's chances at signing them. Besides John Dirksen & Pete Skoronski, these kids LOVE the hype. Send out a... Will prospect X be at ND's Jr Day?... and 99.9% retweet it in 1 minute. Surely not every recruit besides Jaylin Smith is on the down low creep when it comes to having interest in ND.

Can't imagine he would. Most likely scenario is Martinez talked to the 247/OSU guys and he's passing them some smoke so it gets back to the OSU staff (to let them know he's serious af about looking for a place the will let him do what he wants... or simply for the free social media status?) He didn't sign early now it's time to be important, build brand and see who has the most love for ya. He does it his way, Pete Skoronski does it the other way.

Or citing "multiple sources"? Or doubling down?

That's the beauty of working for one of the two networks... you have multiple sources on every prospect.

The interesting dynamic there is, some analysts are covering a team they don't care about and some are doing their dream job. Both have a completely different way of looking at what they do and therefore MAY not operate in the same manner.

Worse... an LA kid/SC fan growing up (I think) who went to FSU.

He should just get a Masters from The U and his oil changed in Ann Arbor and I'll pay for his ticket on Musk's first attempt to Mars.

Its resurfacing now but Cam's father's side are huge ND fans. And I've read it played a huge part in his early up bringing with football. So, it wouldn't surprise me, if he's truly open to other schools, that ND gets in the mix. However, I would've thought we'd been more in the mix before he committed to OSU. It was a weird recruitment and I'm not sure I know what really happened here. I also believe that part of his family is Catholic and that played a role in his up bringing. But that part of the story is more foggy as it was a long time ago I was reading about him.

Here's an article where he briefly mentions it to Wiltfong. The articles on the first page have some mentions of it as well.
