Sign me up. I think it's been 7 years since I started to follow recruiting, I believe this kid would be the first CMA kid that Notre Dame has recruited. You're right, very athletic for a kid thats already 240 pounds

Love the film. I think he is agile enough to play drop IMO

Now, at 240 lbs, probably. He'll probably be at least 260 lbs when he steps on a campus as a college athlete. To me, he looks like a future SDE with good pass rush ability and will slide inside in obvious passing situations.

No doubt and like NaNa, the frame to be a swing in case ND ever lands another Okwara type (Trice).

His footwork/quickness is evident on the third play. Quickly gets off the snap, makes the OC whiff on the attempted block goes around and gets a TFL when the play is run away from him. Very impressive.

He's 15-20 lbs bigger than last season too. Easily a 250+ lb prospect IF he focuses on FB only his Sr. year. Problem is, Culver's the basketball state champs in 3A and he's one of the stars. He'll play as long as he's in HS so if ND's in his future, hopefully CMA allows early graduation and he EE's. He says he hasn't made up his mind what he wants to play in college. I don't know what offers he has (if any) but I know Valpo's recruiting him and feels that he can play the 3 at 6-4/225ish. No doubt in my mind he'll play football or better I say, he should.

Had 9 Tkl, a FF & a Sack in his first game of the season vs LaVille... who Jack Kiser and Pioneer plays tonight. CMA won 28-6. Pioneer will probably be more like 46-6 or 46-0.

Deontae Craig* was at Notre Dame for a game last fall and the 2020 Indiana defensive end was back for more on Saturday night.

The Irish’s 24-17 victory over Michigan on a primetime stage did not disappoint.

“It was really good,” the Culver Academies standout said.

Craig especially enjoyed the atmosphere inside Notre Dame Stadium for the contest.

“That was great,” the 6-foot-4, 240-pounder added. “I don’t think too many people left at all. They stayed basically the whole game and they were loud the whole time, so it was great.”

And he was impressed with the Irish’s performance.

“They played pretty well, especially being against Michigan the first game of the season,” he said. “I was really impressed with how they played.”

But another highlight took place well before the game.

“When I first got there, they had the guest panel, so Justin Tuck and DeShone Kizer and all of those guys were talking to all of the recruits,” he explained.

“Then the coaches came in and started talking to us a little bit. We went onto the field for pregame and then just sat and watched the game. I had a good time.”

The former players keyed on a theme for the recruits.

“How much bigger it is than football,’ Craig said. “They were talking about how everybody is there supporting you academically and socially for anything you’re trying to do besides football. That really impressed me a lot too.”

Craig already has offers from Tennessee, Indiana and Indiana State.

“It’s pretty cool,” he said of the early offers. “It’s motivating. It makes me want to work harder so I can get bigger and better offers.”

He didn’t get too much one-on-one time with individual Notre Dame coaches on Saturday, but is excited about remaining on their radar.

“I’ll definitely try to get back up there and keep trying to perform and keep impressing them,” he expressed.

He’ll be at Indiana’s home opener against Virginia next weekend and expects to be at Purdue’s game against Missouri the following week.

Craig knows what he’s looking for in a school.

“Honestly, academics comes first. I want to go somewhere I can contribute sooner in the process. My family is going to be a big part of it as well.”

CB's will roll in for him if they already haven't. Any family that sends their kid to Culver, even if he's on a full athletic scholarship, is going to push their kid to ND. The fact that ND is the closest P5 to his family is the closer.

So let me be the first to throw. CB to ND.

Surprised? Not really, it's a better ND when it comes to recruiting but it's still BK's ND. I'm more surprised only two offers went out total. (reported). Strike while the iron's hot.

There's no info yet that they offered JJ McCarthy and he's the most important offer they haven't made in any class.

As Lucci posted in the master thread, he was offered by OSU. He's quietly racked up offers from both good academic schools and now football factories. I wouldn't mind if Notre Dame offered.

Offered. Think McGregor is gone if they offered him. Waiting on the commit . . .

After following recruiting closely for 8 years now, this is probably the thing that irks me the most. If you offer someone almost a year before NSD, the offer should be committable. I think a "non-committable" offer would do more harm than good.

I am glad they offered though. Assuming its committable.

I think this kid is severely underrated. I said before I think he could play either end position.

On a side note, Culver had four kids make IHSAA State in wrestling. Wasn't that long ago, you'd be hard pressed to see a Culver fan in the stands let alone a wrestler make it to state. Anyone know if Craig wrestled?

Nice freebie from Allen Trieu. Give it a read.

https://247sports.com/Article/Coach-Speak-Deontae-Craig-special-on-and-off-field-130304023/

He plays in the 3A Basketball State Finals this weekend. He should be on campus soon afterwards. They've beaten SB Washington, Hammond & MARION in the playoffs this year. That just doesn't compute with me. Things sure have changed.

sign of the times. CMA must be recruiting and offering free tuition to athletes. From places like South Bend, Hammond and Marion.

Something is definitely going on. They had several kids make the state finals in wrestling this year. Cathedral of Northern Indiana?

They've always had good wrestlers, no? Was there a time when CMA kids couldn't wrestle in the IHSAA tourney?

They had a wrestler win state in 2009. They had four make it to state this year with one champ. Getting four to state is fairly hard to do, which makes me wonder if they haven't put some additional focus on athletics?

i thought this guy was a slam dunk commit when offered??

Maybe 2-3 spots left on the DLine and you want him to commit? I wouldn't want him to have a commitable offer right now. Staff is still recruiting Darrion Henry (OSU lock), Phillip Webb is getting some heavy contact according to the BGI Podcast, Jay Hardy might get on campus soon enough, Rylie Mills is a strong probability to end up in South Bend, Kedrick Bingley-Jones restarted communication with the staff since his decommit from UF and is teammates with Osita Ekwonu, Myles Murphy included ND in his recent top 10, Braiden McGregor might be the number 1 priority on defense right now (maybe overall), Xavier Carlton has tons of interest in ND and wants to visit, and Jaheim Thomas might be ND's to lose if OSU doesn't take him. Lot of if's, and's or but's, but ND is in pretty darn good position to have an excellent recruiting class with a lot of highly coveted recruits. I don't think Deontae Craig is high enough up the board for me, but that's just my opinion.
