Is he the real deal, or is this the staff starting to feel the top of their WR board fade....

seems pretty early for "just back up plans"

In the 2019 cycle, the staff offered 32 WR targets for 2 guys. This cycle they might need 3 or even 4 guys if roster changes happen. That doesn’t automatically mean they offered 80 dudes, but they had only offered 17 guys to this point which means they needed to expand the board to get other guys on campus this spring. One of the best ways to tempt your Plan B guys to get on campus is to offer them a scholarship and let them know your interest is serious. Although they have offers out to 4 3* recruits and I don’t think they will be 3*’s at the end of the cycle. Maliq Carr is a wanted man and has an incredibly unique skill set that will probably see him rise in the ranking significantly. I still hope they end up with Jordan Johnson, Jalen McMillan, AJ Henning, and Daniel Jackson but what happens if Johnson is recruited heavily by some of the football factories that he has offers from (Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Michigan, Oregon, LSU), or McMillan never makes it to campus (hard to commit somewhere without ever having been there), AJ Henning decides to be a Buckeye (it’s neck and neck), and Daniel Jackson never fully heals from his ACL. ND doesn’t want to fall into the problem of not having backup plans to losing their Plan A’s and only have Plan C’a and D’s. They’ve been burned by that in the past. There is timing to all of this and the longer ND goes without a WR commitment, the more likely they continue to throw darts at the dart board with other prospects. If ND hits on all of their Plan A’s then they’ll stop their recruiting mostly at the position like the TE position for 2020.

No clue, but ND is loving the position of being down to 2 guys to chase in January this cycle. I think they’d like to continue that for as long as possible and keep expanding the board until they can find the right group of guys to fit ND. There’s a double edged sword to this because sometimes you take a Brandon Tiassum in the middle of the summer thinking you need to fill spots soon when you have actually several months to continue to recruit DT’s, but for the most part ND should continue to push for the high end guys and sprinkle in some other good recruits to have as many eyes on ND as possible.

Also they guys they have offered up until this point are all quality WRs. Still waiting in Jadon Thompson though . . .

Just watched his Jr. year hudl film. Reminds me of Cam Hart a little, but is much more polished as a receiver. Runs clean routes and blocks really well. He is athletic but not at the Jordan Johnson and Macmillan level. Looks really thin like Hart but plays physical. Plays corner as well and likes to make hits. Comes from a good school in Atlanta. He is a very good plan B.

We just took a kid out of Georgia this year who started as a low 3 star but is now our highest rated recruit and a 5 star. I'll hold judgement on low rankings off until the dust settles before NSD and I see the kid in his senior year.

If he's offered, he's good enough. Top of the board? We'll find out.

I thought the same in relation to Hart. Quality size and athleticism that gives him position flexibility.

From the program in which the Irish pulled Isaac Rochell out of – Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy – Robinson comes from the same division and area in which the Irish added Kyle Hamilton, KJ Wallace, and J.D. Bertrand.

At 6-foot-4, 200-pounds with fluidity and quality ball skills, it makes sense that Florida, Florida State, Kentucky, Georgia, South Carolina, and others have joined the Irish in his early offer list.

Robinson is already set to visit Notre Dame soon.

Talent: Adding the premium pass-catchers in Jordan Johnson, Jalen McMillan, and A.J. Henning is clearly the goal. But finding big-target receivers to fill the void left behind from the departures of Miles Boykin and soon, Chase Claypool, could be another important project. And Robinson could help fill that gap.

Joseph is recruiting him at Safety. Lists himself at 6-4/206.

ISD noted: Robinson's father is a die-hard Notre Dame fan". Ok, fine but what about mom?

Since ND offer, he's been offered by:

WVU
Tenn
UCF
GT
PSU
UF
FSU
UK
SCar
Wake
Ball St
Coastal Car
So Bama
And unofficalled to a UGA recruiting weekend and watched a BBall game with Kirby (was offered back in August)

And his ND offer is still pinned on Twitter...

I like that they offered him at S. He could end up being a freak type S/Rover. We’ll see if he wants to play that. UGA is recruiting him at WR.

Seems like Team Robinson is all about the Irish. Wouldn't surprise me if he popped soon.

I think he could be a freak WR, his highlights on that side of the ball are some highlights

I am guessing they want him because he is freak athlete. They probably would want him at WR but I feel like ND is pretty good with WRs for 2020 that he could switch to WR after the fact. Wonder where he is on NDs board?

Per his interview with Freeman, he will be visiting Clemson in two weeks and will take OVs in the Fall. Notre Dame will get one. Sad face.

I think the DB version of Tosh Baker could be an awesome addition. He's huge and definitely has some positional flexibility down the road (Safety, Rover, Buck). He had 3 offers before ND came in and in the last 4 weeks he's received 14 offers which is pretty damn impressive. Too bad he'll be shutting it down recruiting-wise until the fall, but things change fast in recruiting.

I think Robinson outgrows S pretty easily. He's got that Kam Chancellor thing going on.

Damn, that’s interesting. Clearly position was much more important than people thought. I’ll be interested in reading about this.

Me thinks this may go the way of JD Bertrand towards NSD. We will honor the offer . . . but you may sit the bench forever so, up to you. Not saying he ends up ND, but NSD is still almost a year away.
