Have to find a way for Botelho to impact the game with Both Justin and Isaiah coming back. Maybe Justin moves to SDE full time, I don’t know but Botelho can’t be getting just a handful of snaps/game next season. Have to be more creative than that.

Given that ND only got half a season of KH this past season, does the defense project to be better at all three levels in 2022?

Per Irish Breakdown the staff is supposedly really really high on Ryan Mills being the starter at SDE and taking a big big jump next year.

I think Botelho can play Rover on 1st and 2nd downs, then come up to the LOS on 3rd down to rush the passer. I think the 3rd down pass rushing package is really going to be something next year.

Yes, in my estimation. Cam Hart is a known commodity. We've built up depth in the secondary. LB will be stronger with Bauer back, Kollie, Kiser and Liufau. Maybe a true freshman can push for minutes. And we kept nearly the entire DL outside of our two 5th/6thyear players in Hinish and MTA.

Sure seems like we should be very, very strong defensively. I just hope someone supplants Bertrand, I love what he brings but I don't think his limitations are good for a championship team.

Love Mills, look forward to seeing more of him. 5T might be his nfl future so wouldn’t be surprising to see him play Big End.

With that said, I hope they get back to moving guys down and in versus back and out. If we’re going to have Big Ends like Mills and MTA, then those guys need to move inside in obvious pass rush situations so we bring the speed to the edge. Bring back the stunts.

Agree. My initial worry with Foskey coming back is do we lose Botelho. Dude needs more snaps.

Marist would be supplanting Bertrand. Remember Bertrand would have been 3rd team if not for Marist and Simon get injured . Saying that I still think Bertrand gets a decent amount of reps as the as 2nd string rotating in for Marist and Bauer, which is fine to get those fresh legs. Say what you want about Bertrand’s athletic limitations, he still lead the team
in tackles and puts himself in the correct position due to his IQ.

Looking at the 2022 schedule we shouldn’t be any worse than 10-2. Ohio state is the only team where I’m nervous. Their defense isn’t going to be that good. Clemson is a toss up but we should win that one comfortably. USC is another toss up but I feel like we should win as well

Who knows what their coaching will be like, but I think Clemson bounces back next year. It should be a tough game still I think. USC probably will be a year or two away still, we should pull away late with depth. I wouldn't overlook BYU either, although we do get them after a BYE. It'll probably be a night game in Vegas.

You all aren't giving USC enough credit. They are going to be a big12 style offense. Yes Brandon Joesph will help some but they are going to air the ball out.

The core of the Lincoln Riley offense, through all the Heismans and 1st Overall Picks, is the run game.

Yeah, I think it’s hard to say how dangerous USC will or won’t be this year because it really depends on what transfers they do or don’t get. I’m not afraid of their current roster, but I’m very afraid of their roster + a couple elite playmakers on offense + some hole pluggers on defense. I don’t think we will know until fall camp what we really have to expect or not.

I undersatnd that. But until he can get teh offense fully installed he will probably have more weapons in the WR dept.

The offense doesn’t work at an elite level in that case then. They struggled all year when they were pass first this year and his WRs were studs. Their offense is really OL based.

The one thing that's for sure is they will have it figured out by the time we play them.

Foskey returning is like a very early Christmas 2022 present. Huge for the team and D. Captain Isiah! Agree we need to see more Botelho.

I think they'll put up some points, but they're still pretty weak in the trenches. They'll hang around for 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 quarters scoring points with skill positions, but near the end of the game I expect them to get beat as depth starts to hurt them.

SIAP, but if you want to support Foskey from an NIL standpoint for returning you can do so here — https://if-factor.com

Thanks for posting this. I had never made it to his site. Thankfully his green jersey comes in 3XL. Score!

That's hot, and I would love to support Isaiah's venture. I just can't justify a $150 jersey purchase when I have other mouths to feed lol
