Sounds good, he’s 20 lbs. lighter than last years Rover at the same stage and that has nothing to do with it.

and almost the same weight as JOK (197 lbs) at the same stage, who may end up being this year's starting Rover.

His current weight is irrelevant as it pertains to playing Rover. Elko & Lea targeted 6-2ish, 185-195lb ATH's (WR/DB) for the position at Wake. JOK was their first Rover acquisition at ND. He's right in their wheel house for a Rover target. But unless he has a change of heart and sees himself as a LB in college and beyond, I hope this completely falls apart if it hasn't already.

Seems obvious to me he wants to play safety for the Washington Huskies but wants to go to school at ND.

Seriously, we already went over this in another thread. Both Marist and JD were told ahead of time that there may not be a scholarship this year. There was no promise of a scholarship and then at the last minute that promise revoked. Both accepted what ND had to say and still committed because ND is where they want to be regardless. Completely different scenario.

I don’t care if the players are ok with it. It is hypocritical to bash other schools for doing this and then ND does it. I would rather be at 83 then 88. I don’t like now and and won’t like it later. This isn’t ND style. Not mention it’ll cost us next recruiting cycle.

Thomas Brown would be a fairly identical frame to Turner. He played at 6’3 225. At no point has it been said he couldn’t get to that weight, it’s whether he wants to. If people think a 30 lb. weight gain isn’t playing into the position switch, you’re kidding yourself.

Let's say your kid really wants to go to Notre Dame to play football.

Option A: Notre Dame says "sorry, we really like you, but we don't have room in this class."
Option B: Notre Dame says "we may not have room on the fall roster, but if you really want to come we will definitely have room in the spring."

Which option would you rather have?

The problem with grey shirting was always that they would spring it on kids the night before NSD or after they had signed telling them they couldn't enroll. The problem was never the idea of someone enrolling a semester later if that's what fit everyone's situation.

Surprised how empty the stadium is. Figured this would be a bigger deal.

CBS coverage leaves a lot to be desired as well.

Clark entering the game for Mauka. Sacked on first play (not sure why his first play was 3rd and long).

Are all of Loy's write ups that rough? And Loy kinda seems to contradict the earlier talk in this thread.

I think the kid wants ND but is finding it hard to tell UW no given he had gave his commitment before. While he doesn’t have to commit on NSD I think NSD will be the day.

He’s been pretty open that it’s really coming down to the position he’ll play. If he wants S it’ll be UW and if he wants LB it’ll be ND.

Showing up at 190-195 lbs. per his weight at the AA game, probably didn’t help the LB talk.

I’m getting to the point where I think we should take Foskey and call it a day. And that’s coming from someone that really likes the player.

Yes, as UW is about the only school who targeted him as a safety while everyone else is projecting LB, which is why I made my statement. He gave UW his verbal as a safety and prefers safety. After getting more input, I think he's fighting the idea (internally) and pressure (external) of playing LB.

So, everyone sees him as a LB. UW prob sees him as a LB, but says "hey kid, you can play safety if you would like, just sign right here".

Has one foot on the curb, one still in the car. " We have decided you fit better at LB"

Over under?

The old, "we're going to use you as the next Percy Harvin" trick, aye?

Ryan Day probably can still get another 2 years use out of that line.

"You know while Urban was still here, he took one look at your film and said that kid is Percy Harvin 2.0"

Do the kids coming out now have much memory of watching Percy Harvin?

Staff visiting him this week trying to put a bow on this. With the pressure UW has been putting on him, I wonder if he tells the staff that he's coming, will he wait until NSD to tell UW?

anyone know if they are actual cousins, or just "cousins"?

While I too tend to be pessimistic, the crystal balls seem to still have moved to ND with no trend back as of yet.

The experts don't know any more than we do IMO. I don't think anything has change CB wise since the flips when he decided to take more time. Hoping he and Rutherford hit it off. The Marist connection is good if they are cousins, but the whole Marist GSing thing doesn't exactly give me any comfort from a Turner-connection perspective.

I don't believe they are actually cousins. Marist and Asa hit it off and spent a ton of time together at the Poly Bowl.

Makes sense. People is Hawaii use the term “cousin” as a term of endearment. Kind of like homie.

same with Italian Americans. I have 200+ first and second blood cousins. I have many more endearment "cousins".
