We can all agree Kelly made the right call.

Anyone still bagging on Phil is either spiteful or bitter or both. Should just leave this thread alone going forward.

Old enough to die for your country, old enough to be a man and held accountable.

Book is the man. Phil is still growing up. BK made the right call. Glad we won. Time to let Phil play in his sandbox with his new friends.

Jurkovec completed 15 of 19 passes for 203 yards before the pocket collapsed around him in the third quarter and knocked him out of the game. The Notre Dame transfer spent the rest of the game with his left knee wrapped on the sideline, joining Bailey, who had an unspecified injury

Backup Dennis Grosel replaced Phil, throwing for 2 TDs. BC won 34-27.

hmm Dennis Grosel is a red shirt junior... wonder if there is any chance he can grad transfer into ND? :)

Nothing would surprise me.

All kidding aside, hope PJ isn't hurt bad. It's never a good thing when the starting QB gets hurt in the 2nd half after throwing no TDs, and the back up come in and throws 2 for the win.

This was coming. Jurkovec is very strong and doesn't want to go down, even to the point of putting his body parts in risky positions post-contact. He's not in HS anymore --- lots of guys are stronger than he is now.

BC was leading the entire time. The backup didn't come in and win the game.

BC was indeed in the lead when he went out. PJ had zero TDs though, and had a turnover. Grosel came in up 20-13, and immediately led them on a long TD drive with him throwing a TD. Louisville scored the next drive, and Grosel again led them on a TD drive. Louisville then scored another TD. 7pt win, but Grosel put it out of reach. If Grosel doesn't do those things, they lose..

Any word on PJ's injury?

I had this irrational vision when he signed with ND.

As PhillyIrish stated, the coaching staff saw things that we didn't. That's their job and obviously they made the best choice in going with Book... not only the best choice but the right choice!

Hope PJ is okay but I'm fully invested in Ian.

Cheers and Go Irish!!

The only issue I have with Ian is that the last 2 years he struggled in the first part of each season. He takes several games to get into a groove. If he came back next year, does that happen again?

We were lucky this year that it didn’t cost us.

Doesn't matter, he's gone. Already signed up for the senior bowl

What does that mean, exactly? I don't follow professional stuff and drafting.

If you accept the Senior Bowl invite you waive your eligibility. With him accepting, he has waived any opportunity of returning. ND is now in the market for a tenured QB to help next year :alcohol:

they get paid to play in the Senior Bowl. Not sure how much but enough to make them "professionals".

I know, a pay cut for many, blah, blah

I've heard some debate about that. The only thing I could find was "according to a source, accepting an invite, locks them into the draft"... Not saying it's wrong, but doesn't really give me total confidence either.

Hmm. They said Thursday he'd be available.

Tough break. The backup shined last week.

You still pushing that narrative?

There were articles everywhere pushing the same "narrative"

Still on the crush? lol

Dude just ignores the 4 scoring drives Phil led them on because he handed off for touchdowns instead of throwing for them.

Sorry man. PJ did fine, so did Grosel. He's looked pretty decent today again (400+ yards) despite the 2 INTs. If BC had their RB, or anything better than -7 yards rushing, they might have stood a chance on the road.

Yeh. Both of these guys are doubtless good athletes and someday will be good QBs. Neither are yet. Jurkovec shows more potential star power at this point (i.e. the famous higher ceiling) but it's easily possible that neither will be a top shelf college QB. How about waiting till another year goes by to try to judge the careers of either?

Plus, these guys play for BC.
