Personally I don't think the kid is an ND fit. Not saying he's a bad kid by any means at all. I don't know him. But he doesn't seem to be the kind of kid who would be successful at ND.

I agree. ND isn't meant for everyone and I think this is the case with Kalon Gervin.

I'd rather ND pass on a kid with character issues than deal with a transfer a year from now.

Apparently he's telling the VT guys/staff that he is taking an OV to VT the weekend he was supposed to be at ND for the USC game. So more of the same with this kid.

As much as we need cornerbacks, I'd take a pass on this kid. Sounds too wishy washy to me.

Agree, I questioned going after him again when he came for UGA. I'd spend a little time and see if he finally comes around, just because he's a pretty good prospect, but not much more than that. Spend more time on the guys on the board and identifying a couple of guys to offer after USC weekend depending on how we feel with Wilkins, Bracy, and those visitors that weekend.

If I am the staff I only take him if he is 100%committed!

My guess is at this time, no one in the '18 Class would commit to ND and still take OV's.

ASB is probably the only one who could get the staff to allow it and he has no need to save a roster spot. They would simply trim an extra GS next year to make room if it was that tight... and it's never that tight.

Coach D was a little salty about this one lol

I don't understand why CB is horrible it's starting to become concerning.

he wasn't a good fit and wouldn't have lasted here.....we just offered 1 tenn commit and smith from georgia...we are speaking with a duke commit and a few others..that's not including the others we are squarely in it with

but as i always write...why would a db want to come here besides almost immediate playing time? we haven't had anyone worth noting developed here in quite some time....are we finally seeing something sure...but our backend has been the weak link thus far on defense...love and watkins haven't been anything but avg

This is like the fourth time we've heard this. "Okay this guy is gone, but we're really pushing for A, B just got offered, and I hear C and D might be silent flips."

*A commits to football factory, B's grades suck, C and D reaffirm their commitments.*

"Okay, so D isn't coming here. But E..."

and this is like the 1000000x of db recruiting is puzzling or a mystery or any other adj
so what do you suggest the coaches do? gun to their head and force them to commit...we might be striking out right now but not for lack of effort on the recruiting trail

Exactly this... Sometimes we just aren't a fit.. Hopefully we land a couple and next years elite CBS are a better fit and we land them..

Cb recruiting is officially worse than DE recruiting a few years back. And I don't think it's even close.

This kid alone doesn't make that true, but just the amount of head scratchers the past 2 cycles is insane. You'd think we're 0-6 with 14 corners on the depth chart the way its going.

I bet the late decommits really burned us. I would not be surprised if we had shut down recruiting last year before Adebo decommitted from us and went to Stanford. That probably hurt ND big time, unfortunately.

He will go to MSU

The pity commit. Reports about recruits MSU had at the ND game were stellar. If this worked for ND, they'd have a .9500 team APR today

Taiyon Palmer, the Duke commit you mentioned has taken all of his Duke info off his Twitter page. He's gonna make a move. Question is, is UGA the one pushing the move?

Other targets I'd look into:

Travian Blaylock - TX - (Wiscy)
Kenneth Dicks - GA - (WF)
Jarius Brents - KY
Benny Sapp - MN - (Minny)

look at the hot garbage we had on the field last year, was that going to get recruits interested? kids want to be on a team that wins and gets them to the league...and very few really care about academics...so these relationships weren't being forged last year as BVG didn't really recruit, db coaches hands were tied and finally we are starting with the 19 class....this year we are digging out of a hole and trying to make headway...as the sixers say..."trust the process"

I don't buy that. Every other position on defense is recruiting well. BVG was just as much part of those groups as corner.

There needs to be some major movement this week, as we have 1 big recruiting weekend left, and we're on a bye week with plenty of hs film to view 6 weeks in.

Good to hear that the bridge isn't burnt. I heard some bad feedback out of Chicago when ND passed after the first go around. I always like the kid. He has been playing well at IMG splitting time at CB and Safety.

As long as Bracy comes in, they can take longer guys who aren't burners.

db's are a different breed...they are usually the flashy type.....that doesn't typically fit w/ ND

There are some other blue blood programs that have similar or worse history than ND in recent drafts. ND has had two CB's drafted since 2014. UGA.....1. Oklahoma....2. Stanford......1. Michigan.....2. Penn State.....0.

I buy what your selling when comparing to Ohio State, Florida State, Bama, UF or LSU. But we are losing guys to more schools than just those.

For an uncommitted player his offers are real bad. What's the story here?

Shhhhh! His bio is legit. Well spoken kid, Plays good comp in the Bay, Good film, Big production on both sides of the ball, ballhawk on D - gets INT's - 13 career / 2 - P6's, 4.5's 40, I don't even like checking up on him because I figure each time I do, there will be Washington, Oregon and SC offers and his OV dates. So far, so good.
