Rarely are you aware. Can you list again all the reasons MSU was going to kick our ass?

I can't predict W/Ls, although I did predict us to beat MSU by 5-9 points.

But I know a thing or two about 'crootin.

Lol, boom.

I've said for a few weeks I don't think Burton will come here, and it's never had anything to do with academics.

People say have said for a while he's a lock to commit pending his scores, and I don't think that's true. His scores are in.

We'll see.

He wants ND. ND is going to play waiting game.

I'm aware.

Your first quote is hinting that, since his scores are in he should be committing. dwshade then tells you it is ND playing the waiting game which means they won't accept his commitment right now. You respond with "I'm aware". Doesn't appear you are if your stance is that he won't come here by his choice and not by ND's choice.

Re-read. I'm saying if his test scores were the hold up (which people started saying all the way back to his summer visit), he'd be committing now/soon.

I'm saying that won't happen, because it was never an issue with test scores. ND hasn't been that high on him and he doesn't have the green light. It's as simple as that.

And I guess you can take that as a good sign. Either the staff thinks they can get 3 corners better than Burton... OR they're simply crazy. I don't think the entire defensive staff is crazy, so this is probably a good sign.

You don't need any corners if all of your players are rovers, and tackles

This sucks. I hope we can manage to get at least one Cornerback this cycle. I can't believe how hard it's been the last year or so.

As it stands, this was by choice. He would've committed to ND, if they were willing to accept it.

my questions are, we seemed to put quite a bit of resource to this kid, So now that the staff has determined he isnt a take (and not because of grades/coursework), are we to believe that A) they feel better about CBs A, B, C... or B) he wasnt good enough on the field?

If its A, great, but who?

If its B, i understand we're not going to bring in players that cant play at the championship level. But then where did we miss along the way in identification process that we dedicated more resources than needed for a player of a lower caliber?

was that because our staff was out of town at Bob Elliott's funeral?

its even more puzzling he wouldnt work out for us if given a chance when you read how "he wants ND."

Couldn't have wanted it too bad if he wont even lace em up for the coaches.

Entered the transfer portal.

https://www.buckys5thquarter.com/20...-transfer-portal-donte-burton-quan-easterling

Looking back, we were pretty big players in his recruitment. Although, it may have been a situation of him wanting ND more than ND wanting him... ? IIRC, we were looking at a lot of CBs during the 2018 recruiting cycle, and were playing the waiting game for a lot of "smaller fish".

Anyways, he played sparingly in his UW career, but did have an interception this season. He could be a valuable depth piece as a graduate transfer for next season, or maybe not... a lot of younger players will be entering their third or second year, maybe another upperclassmen will just be an extra body that isnt needed.

Thoughts?
